It's draft day, and the energy is electric! For most players, that is. Crestfallen might be the only way to describe the feelings of Theo Lariat today, as he didn't quite make it to town in time to be draft eligible. The eager prospect is trying to make the best of his situation, though.
Lariat provided comment on the situation earlier this afternoon, "You know, I'd like to think there's a reason I missed the draft window - if I do get picked up by a team before the trade deadline, I'll get to serve as extra firepower on top of their incoming draftees. I've missed the opportunity to connect with scouts, but that just means I'm in for a pleasant surprise, right?"
We asked Theo about his strengths as a player, and he had this to say: "Any player can put up rookie stats like I have so far, I know that. What I bring to the table is my work ethic and attitude. I'm in this league to play the best version of my game every time I'm on the field. To do that, it takes a lot of work off the field, too. You have to do your homework, stay connected with management, and take care of your teammates. We succeed or fail as a team, not individuals. I don't think of myself as a historian, but there's an African proverb that I think on a lot - if you want to go fast, go alone; if you want to go far, go together. I want to go far in this league, and I'm going to go together with whichever organization will have me."
Special teams are a vital part of every team, but they're woefully underrepresented in the league. Lariat could quickly find himself competitive against the top K/P in the DSFL. He's shown solid growth even just since making it into town, this could be the unexpected twist that changes the outcome of the entire season. At the very least, this report calls Lariat a safe choice for any team looking to improve their K/P situation.
