Texas A&M 1st round NSFL Draft prospect Marcus Boyd was arrested this Saturday for misdemeanor assault following an altercation at the local Sonic. According to public records, the massive offensive lineman was arrested following a verbal altercation turned sour with a group of high school students who reportedly attended the Bishop Neumann high school in North East Wahoo, rivals to Boyd's Wahoo Warriors alma mater.
Witnesses stated that there was verbal altercation followed by a quick scrum after Boyd received verbal harassment about his Wahoo Warriors sweatshirt. Witnesses state that Boyd's cheese fries were hit out from his hands. Shortly following a scrum ensued, Sonic employees called the Wahoo Police Department. Upon arriving to the scene officers stated Boyd fully complied with police. Boyd's BAC was 0.00. Both Boyd and three other Wahoo minors were arrested for Breach of Peace. It is unknown at this time if alcohol was involved in the minor's arrest.
Character Concerns?
Marcus Boyd received his nickname "The Mountain" following three knock-out seasons at Texas A&M allowing the fewest quarterback hurries and knockbacks at his positions in the SEC. Boyd was the centerpiece of an unstoppable offensive line that racked up highest Standard Downs Line Yards per Carry as well as the highest Opportunity Rate in NCAA for the 2016 season. Despite losing two solid pieces the year before to the NSFL Draft, Boyd maintained his poise for his Senior Season. His impressive performance and high draft stock make this incident leave a giant question mark over Boyd's head. What was Boyd doing here that forced him to brawl with highschoolers?
"The better question is what high schoolers would pick a fight with The Mountain?" Adam Schefter told TMZ Sunday Morning. "This will hurt his draft stock significantly but Boyd dodged a bullet with a 0.00 BAC, which would have made this horrendous situation worse. He likely would have been charged with assault, which still begs the question why he wasn't."
There have been numerous incidents of draft prospects getting into trouble, even domestic violence issues such as this. It is likely that Boyd will fall from the first round and even be pulled off draft boards by some GMs. TMZ was unable to obtain police records of the minors involved, although reports suggest they were taken to the hospital. Boyd was left uninjured and cooperated with police. He was let out on 250$ bail from the Wahoo Police Department Early Sunday Morning. Boyd was officially charged with misdemeanor breach of peace. The max penalty in Wahoo, Nebraska carries a hefty 3000$ fine and up to 25 hours of community service.

TMZ has reached out to league sources and there is no evidence Boyd will be barred from competition in Thursday's game. Missing the game Thursday would not bode well for Boyd's ability to sell himself to likely GMs. It should be noted that in the 2014 season, prospect Willie Buttafuoco was granted access to the Senior Bowl despite a DUI. Buttafuoco was drafted in the 5th round by the Denver Grizzlies.
Boyd refused to comment. TMZ is awaiting a statement from Boyd's agent.
