17. Your team has announced that they will be laying ground on a new stadium next season. What additions would you like to see included in it. No graphics option available here.

So there will be a new stadium built in Yellowknife. Honestly, what a big waste of money, you have this tiny ass village of yellowknife, i mean theres not even 20k people living in the entirety of yellowknife, the stadium literally never sells out and they want to build a new stadium? my preffered addition to the new stadium would be to just cut the old stadium in half because thats honestly enough for this tiny ass town. Other than that i think customary beer helmets distributed upon entry with free refills should be a great addition to any new stadium, given the size of the yellowknife wraiths fanbase this should not be all too difficult. Also the 16$ disgusting looking hotdogs from this years superbowl seem to be a very easy way to make some money off of people without taste buds. Any sort of TV screen inside the stadium would also be great

19. If your player had a show starring them, what would the plot be? Graphic Option: Create the cover art for your player’s show

So my player actually already has a pretty popular late night television show on german kids television, where he basically does nothing but talk and sometimes perform some random things. Bernd das Brot is pretty damn popular in germany and the his groupies actually divide about 50:50 between actual ISFL football fans and kids loving his television appearances.
On another note however, i think he should definitely also be featured on a more adult themed television show (no not in a sexual way) something similar to like hells kitchen where bernd d. brot is going to insult future chefs, but the twist is that they are exclusively allowed to cook meals with bread. I dont even know what u can do with bread other than like sandwiches, but hes definitely going to insist that the main ingredient in every meal is going to be bread. ALso insulting people should be pretty fun it looks fun when gordon ramsey does it

21. What are your thoughts on the sim engine? Do you think that it is better than DDSPF16?

All in all id like to first up say that I think that the new engine is overall quite a bit better than the old 16 sim, however there are quite some issues i do still have with the new engine.
The first issue is time - While its fun to see dots do dotty things, its also a bit frustrating sometimes having to wait an hour for your game to be played (thanks for atleast not making YWK the last team to play every singel week).
Another issue is still player balances to me. Safety used to be quite a popular position, however they appear to be a dying breed as of now, i swear theres like the same amount of OL as theres safety's... Tight ends also seem to be getting the shaft even more than they used to get in the 16 sim but that might be wrong and its just an obversation with no actual data to back up

26. Football is a game that has been going on for a while, loved by fans all over. But what if you were able to make some rule changes? Talk us through your new version of football, and what would be different and why?

I think the first rule that should be changed is for kick returns. Just dont have them, i mean nfl already kinda tried to remove them by moving touchback on kickoffs to the 25 yard line, but its quite weird to just remove them partially just for the sake of keeping the game "the same".
The second rule change i would make is the defenseless receiver rule. I mean come on, a receiver coming across the middle trying to catch a ball is simply going to get murdered, and thats how god intended it. is it the defense fault the receiver is defenseless? fuck no, its the quarterback/wide receivers job to make sure they dont get murdered. TO make it clear i dont condone any dirty hits or anything, but a linebacker getting flagged for making a clean hit just because the wide receiver is running across the middle looking towards the ball should not be a flag.

4.

Sim gonna sim, ouch. It's not even that we were favorites this year in any sense of the word. We don't have the strongest roster, we don't have the strongest offensive weapons or defensive pieces, we don't have the strongest depth, hell we were underdogs most of the season. But good lordy did the sim gods smite us down as if we slept with their daughters.

We spent hours brainstorming strategies as a group and coming up with game plans. Moving offensive weapons around the formation to get good matchups against the opponents' weaker players, tinkering with blitz percentages, shifting the D to be run heavy focused against ground and pound teams, anything you could think of we left none of those stones unturned. Each and every week, save a few here and there against juggernauts, we had a game plan we were confident in running out there that would get us a win. Hell, even I personally developed a strategy for a week this season that had a 90% win rate in sim testing and we lost that game by 23 freaking points. If there was an award for a team who's sim testing performance was the furthest off of their real game performance, it would probably go to us in San Jose. Perhaps we failed at anticipating our opponents' gameplans, perhaps we had a setting or two off in our tests, perhaps we weren't working off of the most accurate information in the sim, but I don't buy into that, I buy into the theory that we were smote for the sins of our past. Why do I say that? Let's take a walk.

Before I even dive into any specifics, just look at our point differential compared to most other teams in the league. At a record of 5-11, we had a point differential of -36. Yes, it's negative, but it is not the differential of a 5-11 team. New York, who won 1 more game than us ended up with a point differential of -119, who did they have to sleep with to get that lucky with their record? Yellowknife, our fellow 5-11 team, was -98. Philly (6-10) was -76, Honolulu (7-9) was -26, Orange County (9-7) was -2. One of these things just doesn't belong here and yes it is us in San Jose. Now, to get more specific with some of the smitings.

Week 1 against NOLA, not to mention their QB racked up 37% of his season long rushing yards in just 2 games against us, we score a tying touchdown with just 53 seconds to go and NOLA proceeds to march down the field in just 30 seconds to kick a game winning FG. Heartbreak in week 1.

Week 3 against BAL, we are punting from our own 40 with 2 minutes left in a tie game. Our punter shanks it and it only goes 30 yards. The Hawks proceed to march down the field on the back of a couple penalties and score the game winning TD int he final minute. Heartbreak in week 3.

Week 4 against ARI, lord do I have to? He said yes, so here we go. ARI finds the end zone with 3:27 left to take a 4 point lead, giving us plenty of time to go down and score a game winner, right? Well that's mostly right. We put together a good drive and go the length of the field and score a TD with 1:24 left to take a 3 point lead. 3 straight incompletions for ARI and we are a single 4th down away from winning, alas they convert. On the next set of downs, an 11 yard sack and a couple positive plays later and ARI is facing 4th & 11 from their 46 with just 1 second left in the game. You betcha, a bomb TD to win. Utter heartbreak in week 4.

Week 6 against NYS, they score the go ahead TD with 2:50 left. After a decent drive, we throw a late pick to seal our defeat. Heartbreak in week 6.

Week 9 against COL, the Yeti score a go ahead TD with 3:00 left to take a 4 point lead. In response we drive all the way down and have a 3rd & 5 from their 6 with 1:11 in the game and what do we do but spike the ball. On the proceeding 4th down we throw an interception, likely a forced throw by our QB trying to make a play because we had to on 4th down. Heartbreak (and questionable clock management) in week 9.

Week 10 against ARI, they score a go ahead TD with 1:43 left. Our potential game winning drive falls short after another 3rd down spike. Heartbreak in week 10.

We tacked on 2 more 1 score losses before the season was out to total 8 1 score losses, with most of them ending in sim gonna sim fashion.

I'm well over the word requirement and frustrated with recounting our season, but another recurring theme in our bullcrap season was Zach Crossley, our #1 WR. This man allegedly has 95 speed, but with the way he got caught on deep passes you would think he was an offensive lineman. He had 7 40+ yard receptions and only 3 TDs, one of the only WRs in the league to have more 40+ yard catches than TDs and definitely the only one to have that egregious of a ratio. Perhaps Crossley was the one that slept with the sim gods' daughters.

13. Expansion Expansion Expansion! Tell us why you think the league should expand / not expand or include any ideas (in words) for team branding ideas you have or team locations.

So in all honesty, with people's lives going back to "normal", we are going to see a decline in user activity. The last few draft classes have not seemed to have large number of first-gen creates so that leads one to believe that contraction may be necessary. However that is a boring answer to such a fun question. So No they shouldn't but we are going to pretend they should. Now onto expansion teams. We need to consider location. Not just one location but two. If we look at the current teams, we have one team in Europe and one team in Canada. Being the INTERNATION Simulation Football league there are a few options that come to mind. Both Montreal and Toronto are good North American locations for a team. I think Toronto would be better as if one designed a team in Montreal, one would most likely need to do something brand-wise that pays tribute to the francophones while also being digestible to an English audience.  Do you have to? No. This is for a fake league with no real bearing, but I think we need to make it make sense. So I vote Toronto out of those two. The brand? Well, part of me would just rip off the Tigercats of hamilton. Probably a steel, black, yellow color combo.  Next we can pitch another European team, but we could also pitch a team somewhere else. It doesn't have to be in Europe, and I really can only think of good ideas for like a few countries in Europe anyway. That said, I would vote for Australia or New Zealand. I think New Zealand could evoke some great designs but Australia can also. As for what their branding could be? Thats a harder question. Brand decisions require a lot of work. For New Zealand Id look more into Maori culture and their history. Something similar to HON and how they did their branding. New Zealand Im picturing something akin to Portland's colors but replacing the black with a navy blue. Australia you could do a few things, but part of me wants to get a teal, orange, white team in the league. No kangaroos tho. The Australian Roos does sound good though.

14. Describe your player and/or team’s journey through this latest season. What were the highlights? What were the lower points? What might you have done differently? What are your expectations for next season?

Portland has experienced what many would consider a low point. Its a fresh team with a lot of key positions locked up by rookies. Current management is out the door also. Even their quarterback, star of the future, Boone McCoy is only in his first year. For Portland, the baseline was low. The epic highs of the season were the few wins followed by cratering back to the baseline. On McCoy's part, he started out as most rookies, going along the middle of the pack. He was jokingly deemed a clutch player as he seemed unable to make a play until the third down of any given drive. However, he soon showed intermittent sparkles of brilliance. Soon he was completing a pass on the second down and, hell, even a few first downs too. Soon the seven-week losing streak that started this season would come to an end. It was a long and hard climb but for three glorious weeks, Portland won three straight. This caused McCoy to lead the league in passing yards for a short time, a fact of which he gloated to Buckshank, the Norfolk Seawolves' rookie quarterback. Like was said, Portland's rising would crater. Their win streak crumbled to Bondi Beach in week 10, Portland would only string together one more win to Dallas before the season would end. As far as what can be improved? Well Portland, as most DSFL teams, just need everyone to both earn and not get called up. With the DSFL players having such a short average career in the league, it is really just luck. If Portland keeps a majority of their players for a few seasons then they'll bounce back. With a new GM coming in, this is the perfect time for a down year like they have had. So just keep earning, and keep doing your best.

10. Write a short biography or story about your player. This could include background about how they came to the ISFL and how they’ve done so far, a story about their role in an exciting game, or anything else related to their experience in the league.

For one of the two ultimus week tasks, I am choosing to do two Tier 2 options to get all of my points for TPE. The first one that I am writing about is a short biography about my player, Sal Ami, and including all of his background and stuff up to now. Sal Ami was born in Scranton Pennsylvania. He was always an athletic kid growing up, and had a love for all sports that could only be rivaled by his love for food. For a while he ate himself into oblivion basically. But as he got older and in organized team sports, that is where his life changed and he really started to shine. Sal played football for the School of Hard Knocks in college. He always idolized tightends such as Tony Gonzalez and Antonio Gates while growing up, so tried his best to mimic his game after them. On the DSFL level, Sal was used as a 3rd string tight end and rarely, if ever got to see the playing field. This all changed once he was drafted to the ISFL. To his surprise, he was called up year one and was a day one starter for this team. Once He got to the ISFL, the speed of the game was fast, so he did not have a great rookie year. Sal did have a breakout 2nd year where he recorded one of the highest catch percentages in league history. This most recent season proved to be his best where he amassed over 1 thousand receiving yards and 13 touchdowns. This was a monster season that surely will lead to Tightend of the year honors for Sal. Sal hopes to continue this elite level of play into future seasons, and if this most recent season was any indication, he certainly will.

14. Describe your player and/or team’s journey through this latest season. What were the highlights? What were the lower points? What might you have done differently? What are your expectations for next season?

For the second writing prompt I have chosen to write about option #14 – talking about our team and players journey this season. This one is an easy one and will have some similar stories to tell as I did in the prompt above. Anyway, Our season this year as a team was far off of what we expected going into the year. We came into the season with the highest average TPE by position in the league. The casino had our win total over / under at I believe 10.5 . However as the season began rolling, we started out a brutal five losses in a row. At this point we all pretty much new that our season was going down the drain with little hope of actual recovery. I think this shocked and really let everyone in our locker room down. Ice Bear began testing around this time, and this helped turn our season around. I think we went like 7 wins and 4 losses once Ice took over and began testing this year. As the season came to a close, we had a small chance, however just could not get over the miserable start that we had and missed the playoffs by a game or two. So while we underachieved on the team side of things, my user had a completely different experience. This was probably the best season that my player will ever have on the football field. He finished with over one thousand receiving yards this season and had 13 touchdowns which tied him for 3rd in the entire league. This type of season should lead to one that results in a pro bowl appearance and possibly an off season award like tight end of the year. I hope to build off of the season and hopefully have some successful ones in the future that are similar.

Quote:17. Your team has announced that they will be laying ground on a new stadium next season. What additions would you like to see included in it. No graphics option available here.

Well, it appears as if the home for the Bondi Beach Buccaneers is getting demolished in favor of a new home. While the current stadium offered fond memories of loud crowds, major events, and big plays on the field, it was bound for the team to get bored and seek to move to greener pastures. As an owner, one may have their ideas of what the stadium should look like; comfortable seating, accessible amenities, high-tech media viewing, high-end food and drink options, etc. But as a player, I have my own ideas of what a new stadium may hold; I'm talking about expensive locker rooms with excellent interior design and technology everywhere at a moments notice, the ability to summon snacks or amenities with the push of a button, the ability to hold practice whenever one may want, and many other things that may make me come off as selfish. Overall, there better be something for the players in the stadium, otherwise, I'll be sad.

Quote:19. If your player had a show starring them, what would the plot be? Graphic Option: Create the cover art for your player’s show

Able Archer 83 may be unknown to most people, but the overall definition of it is more or less the following; It was a series of war games done in November of 1983 to simulate a DEFCON 1 situation, with military exercises, participation of heads of government, and new usage of radio communications. The concept of a show starring Able Archer is that he is an ordinary person, living an ordinary life in ordinary society; but coincidentally, he has the same name and general features as a military general that has the same name. It is with that that he is taken in the middle of the night by the government of the United States and is forced to be a commander and a member of the Joint Chiefs of Staff, making tough decisions and getting his country out of trouble, while meanwhile having little to zero clue what he is doing. While eventually he is found out to be some random person who has no military experience and is some random dude who had some random life, he is still kept around for his quick thinking, charming wit, and clever military tactics.

Quote:22. You’re in charge of entertainment for the Ultimus or Ultimini half-time show. What would you do?

As a connoisseur of music myself, and one who believes that I have an almost impeccable taste in it as well, placing me with the opportunity of creating the halftime show is a true privilege that shall not be screwed up. I'll be doing my best to mix contemporary pop artists with blasts from the past, as well as groups that may add a sophisticated touch to the entire program. As an intro to the show, I'll have 2021 pop sensation, Olivia Rodrigo, reel the audience in with her current hits. With that, we'll transition into the classic rock group and pioneers of progressive rock, Genesis, with Phil Collins at the helm with his own classic songs from his own discography and songs that he made as the bandleader of Genesis. Lastly, I'll tie it all together with orchestral groups in the home city of either the Ultimus or Ultimini, and they may all sing/play a song together, making it all one nice package.

Quote:26. Football is a game that has been going on for a while, loved by fans all over. But what if you were able to make some rule changes? Talk us through your new version of football, and what would be different and why?

In the omnipresent venture to further humanity, one must, sometimes, unfortunately, always ask the question of what we can do to certain things to make them quote-unquote "better" than where it was before. I personally believe that football is already in a good state at the moment, but sometimes I ask what one could do to football to make it appear fresher and more palatable to certain audiences. With this in mind, I have a couple of things that I want to do to the sport that may make it better. 1) Perhaps increase the team size to 12, allowing more flexibility to sub players into any position that a coach can want, whether it be another receiver, another lineman, another defender, a designated blitzer, and many other things. 2) Allow and encourage more exotic formations to keep teams and players on their toes so that they don't know what they are looking for and make the audience more invested in what happens in the game, and 3) Relax certain rules that unnecessarily gum up a game, such as roughing the passer, taunting, etc.

6. Write 600 words or more on something about anything in the league that interests you. It could be related to statistics, a league issue that you take seriously, or a niche part of history that doesn’t fit neatly into either of the above categories. This must be directly related to the league, so don’t wax 600 words about your team’s participation on a Werewolf server or something.

Alright then, time for my patented random 600 word rant on any league issues that interest me:

-My player Saleem Spence had a very interesting narrative this year. In his first bite at the apple as Sarasota's de facto number one receiver, Spence set career highs in a season for receptions (118, 3rd in the league), yards (1456, 6th in the league), and receptions going for over 20+ yards. A fine season to be sure, and an unexpected one. Saleem Spence's pre-season predicted fantasy ownership probably bordered on fringe FLEX option, as Sarasota's passing attack was predicted to struggle with rookie QB Carter Knight at the controls. While Knight's TD to INT ratio was mediocre, he did finish 3rd in the league at completion percentage with a solid 66.1%, and he led a competent Sarasota offense backed by a stellar defense to a 12-4 record and the first seed. Unfortunately it all went belly-up in the Conference Championship against the Baltimore Hawks, but it was a good strong effort from Spence, and it will be interesting to see what he accomplishes over the final 3 years of his career, helping Carter Knight along his development cycle by giving him a reliable target to throw to to keep his bad numbers down.

-Speaking of Baltimore thought, what a turnaround they had. What a team, and what a story this is. Baltimore had not had a .500 season since Season 25 when they went 8-8, but after nearly a decade in the darkness losing 10+ games every year, they finally burst into the limelight, and are now in a showdown for the Ultimus against Orange County in a final game that no one expected. A key man in their run has to be Gimmy Jaroppolo Jr., who gave the franchise much needed stability at Quarterback. He elevated his completion percentage up 5 points from last year to 63.6%, and kept the defense honest enough with the passing to unleash the league's best RB tandem of Busch Goose and Dante King. Linebackers Sheriff Woody and AJ Lucas were also key to Baltimore's success, combining for 35 sacks. Its a heartwarming story of what happens when a management team sticks with it, and now Baltimore looks to be among the NSFC's elite for some time.

-I'm really hoping the awards committee is paying attention to the ridiculous season that Colorado Yeti Linebacker Melvin Murder-Moose had. Guy forced 12 fumbles and recovered 8 of them, as well as racking up 18 sacks and 14 pass deflections. So the guy was 3rd in sacks and forced more turnovers than just about anyone else in the league. Pretty fucking dominant if you ask me. Unfortunately, Colorado missed out in a tough conference on playoffs with a 9-7 record, so that might affect his stock in the awards race, since he didn't elevate Colorado to a playoff position.

-Really though, when you look at Colorado's stats, it is astounding that the team finished 9-7. Caliban finished 2nd in the league in passing yards, Raphael Delacour had a banner year, racking up over 1500 yards and 13 TDs. Cole Maxwell had a strong year stretching the field, averaging 14.4 yards per reception and catching 12 TDs, and rookie wideout Bud R. Fingers also chipped in for 11 TDs. Drip Dad contributed 4 yards per carry on the rushing side too. The defense can come in for some blame, but despite allowing a lot of yards they didn't actually allow a lot of points. Ultimately, the team did lose 4 games out of 7 by fewer than a touchdown, so I guess it just wasn't their year.

RE: (S33) Ultimus Week - Troen - 02-16-2022

Prompt 2 Wrote:2. Tell us about your draft class. Is there anything that makes it special in comparison to other classes? Where did your fellow draftees land, how are they doing? Did anyone turn out to be an unexpected steal of that draft based on what you know today? Do you think anyone in your draft class will become a hall of famer? If you’re new to the league, how do you think your class will do? Where do you think people will get drafted to?

While my active player is from S35, I still have a lot more conceptual association with the giant S22 class. With those players' careers hitting their ends, I'm going to try and put that aside to focus on my recreation class.
My brief perusal of the TPE tracker shows 43 S35 players so far, with 17 having broken the fairly typical new player mark of 57 TPE. 5 of those 17 players created their accounts in 2022 with the other 12 being older recreates. All of them (along with the 26 other players) were claimed on waivers but naturally haven't show much of what the future is going to look like otherwise.
Besides the natural interest from being in the draft class, I'm especially interested in what it's going to look like since we're exactly at the 2 year anniversary of the r/nfl recruitment post of 2020 that led to the giant S22 draft class. I said in my article on the S22 draft class retention that circumstances seem well-aligned to post another recruitment post and try to pull in a bunch of new members. I have no idea if that's the plan of the recruitment team or not, but the weekend after the super bowl being right after the conclusion of the ultimus and kicking off the ISFL offseason seems like it might be able to strike while the iron is again hot. It's entirely possible that I'm too optimistic with my guesses though - the covid lockdowns of early 2020 were doubtlessly a factor in the activity of the S22 class, but it's also a factor that's hard to measure or predict. I feel that it has to be unlikely that we see another 200 players recruited for my new draft class, but I have to say that it isn't impossible given what we've seen in the past. I think that it would probably be good for league health to get an influx of new accounts who are interested enough to stick around, but I admittedly don't keep a close enough eye on the ISFL competitive balance to know if that would be a good thing or not at this point. The last giant draft class led to two different expansions and a resulting shakeup in which teams did well, but the activity check posts have been showing a downtrend in the last 2-3 months in terms of posts. I am definitely quite interested in seeing what would happen if the league could pull off another 150+ player draft class for S35, but I have to assume that it's not likely to happen.
If there isn't a giant influx of recruits, where does the S35 class end up going? Well, S34 had 70 players in total with 59 of them getting past the 57 TPE mark. Only 6 players in the class are at or over the DSFL cap so far, but another 13 are in the 200-249 TPE range. That is a really solid first round in the draft with a good second round behind it. S35 is potentially setting up to be weaker unless we pick up a lot of offseason recreates who perform well (and this is an area where entirely new players can take advantage of rookie tasks to catch up a bit with the trade deadline recreates), but I honestly don't know what the typical balance of trade deadline recreates vs. offseason recreates is. If it's usually something like 1:3 then the S35 class could end up being huge. On the other hand, if it's more like 2:1 then we're looking at maybe being the same size as the S34 class. At this point I'm leaning towards optimistic thinking that we'll be a bigger total size and subsequent impact than the S34 class, but part of that also ends up requiring an evaluation of the ISFL teams and seeing if they can draft impact players rather than backups. Doing that kind of evaluation effectively is looking months into the future, but I'm going to be optimistic and think that the S35 class has the chance to be the most impactful to the overall ISFL in a number of seasons.

RE: (S33) Ultimus Week - icnamu - 02-17-2022

16. Mr. Desoto is a big man. He's always been a beefy guy and he was pushed to play football by his parents at a young age. He couldn't do much because he wasn't that agile or fast, but he was definitely very strong and had good balance. His parents moved from Spain to LA at a young age, and he always wanted to back. His dream was to play football and to earn enough money to go back to his home country. Ignacio Desoto has a story and is a hard working player that would be a valuable addition to any team. He wants to contribute right away and do whatever the team wants him to do. Ignacio is a team player and willing to do the dirty work in the trenches. All he wants is to win and get money and become a coveted world champion. Watching the ultimate bowl from home each year has been difficult for him because of seeing others live his dream.

17. If I had a new stadium in it, the first thing I'd like is some real grass. Turf is too dangerous, and there are way too many injuries on it. Not to mention the negative environmental effects. Grass is just more natural and safer for all football players. If there's any way to prevent injuries, we should focus on that. Another thing that I'd like is a retractable roof. Playing football outside is the best, but when it's raining or really hot or really cold, sometimes it's okay to olay in a domed stadium. Especially if you play in the trenches constantly and have to be pushing around 300 lb men on your feet for 50 snaps a game. Additionally, I wouldn't mind if we had a massive jumbotron, one that spans around the entire field so everyone can see it super easily. Allegiant stadium and SoFi stadium are both great examples of hi-tech stadiums with nice cool jumbo trons.

19. If Ignacio had a show about him, it would definitely be a murder mystery where he was the detective. Ignacio was a fan of Agatha Christie's work, and frequently watched Poirot episodes with his parents when he was a child. Class "whodunnit" shows have always had a place in his heart, and starring in one would be his dream. It would have to be football related as well, so definitely a murder mystery where one of the players on the team dies suddenly would be cool. It would be in the locker room and the players would be locked in there until the murderer was found. It would be similar to Murder on the Oriental Express, and it turns out that EVERY player was in on it to kill that other player since they blew the onside kick recovery at the end of the last game so they all decided to team up on him. Poor guy.

20. Scouting Report for Ignacio Desoto
Position: DT
Type: Interior Rusher
Skills: Has a burst off the line of scrimmage, can shed a block very very quick some times. Very muscly and toned, not much fat. Extremely strong for weight. Has good finesse moves. Middling endurance.
Negatives: Gets stuck with a guard sometime and can't get out. If pure speed doesn't work at first, Ignacio has a hard time breaking through. Has a smaller frame. Low awareness, gets fooled by play action and end arounds and sweeps occasionally.
Good Stats: Strength, Tackling, Speed
Bad Stats: Endurance, Intelligence
Overall report: The good thing is that Ignacio has the potential to be a future hall of famer. He looks very easy to coach and talk to, and with a few years of development he will be a key starter on any ISFL or DSFL Team. He is one of those rocks that can hold the line down for years and years. A solid sleeper pick for any team, will be a loyal franchise player to build a defense around.

RE: (S33) Ultimus Week - stein - 02-17-2022

Heads up: I've been informed I'm marked as a re-create even though this is my 1st character in this sim and I've never played another sim before. I'm going to do the non-recreate prompts since I'm not actually a re-create.

Tier 2, Prompt 7:
I think I'm having a somewhat atypical starting experience. I didn't create my character until February 10, 2022 in the mid to late season. On the one hand, this has minimized the number of things I need to learn at once. I'm free to browse the forums and discords and learn what I can. By the time the draft happens, I'll have been poking around for a few weeks at my leisure. This has undoubtedly decreased the confusion I would have experienced if I joined right before or during the draft.

On the other hand, the engagement is really low. I feel unequipped to answer most writing prompts, and I must have misunderstood what makes a gradable graphics submission. This has made it more difficult to afford weekly training, but getting picked up by the Royals on waivers has eased that burden a bit for now. If I'm lucky enough to get my rookie point task stuff graded soon, I might not miss any weekly training so my transition into the DSFL might not be so rocky given my strange starting time. It's entirely possible that none of that matters. I'm mostly worried about not wasting my idle time while I wait for the draft, and trying to maximize the amount of TPE I have when the next season starts so that I can hopefully provide some value to my team.

And speaking of the Royals, they've been a fun and chill part of the community to hang out with while I wait for the draft. I was having some difficulty figuring out where I should be putting my stats in the very early game, and the Royals helped me get my starting build back on track. And the DSFL GMs that have been reaching out have been really helpful in answering questions I've had.

All things considered, my simulation football start has been decent. I'm looking forward to the chance to really participate in the league.

Tier 3, Prompt 16:
I'm lacking in applicable knowledge, experience, or expertise but I might be able to make up for it in flexibility. I don't have dreams of being a star quarterback, wide receiver, running back, etc. I've typically played supporting roles in role playing games, mostly healers or buffers. This is because my main goal in team-based games is to provide support for my team as opposed to putting the biggest numbers up on the board. In terms of the DSFL, this means my only real goal at the moment is to provide meaningful value to whatever team drafts me. If I had my pick of position, it would be any sort of defending role, whether that's defending our endzone or our QB. While I created my character as a cornerback, I'm not married to the position. If the team that drafts me would get a more meaningful impact from me in any other position, I'm down. Aside from that, I'm capable of staying active and participating (mostly on the weekends).

Tier 3, Prompt 25:
I picked cornerback as my starting position but already had a few other choices lined up if it didn't work out. If this was unavailable, my next choice would have been offensive guard. I'm not really attracted to putting the biggest numbers on the board, having the most yards, touchdowns, tackles, etc. I'm mostly attracted to defensive positions and while this one is technically on the offense, I'm interested in it because of its role in defending the quarterback. Given this reasoning I would have picked left or right guard depending on which of the quarterback's sides was the blind side, but either would have been fine. My next choice would have been some sort of safety because the idea of being the last line of defense to prevent the other team from scoring is also pretty cool. My final fallback was any other position on the offensive line. I like how their role is to defend their teammates from the advancing defensive players, and because pancakes sound like a really fun stat to track.
