Changes to Mock Draft and Ultimus Week - Swanty - 03-22-2022

Hi ISFLers!

Coming to you today with an update regarding the seasonal mock draft task and Ultimus Week tasks.

Starting from this season, the mock draft task will open one week earlier (after the regular season finishes) and close one week earlier (the start of the Ultimus stream). This is being done to address a number of issues, namely:
  • The task in its previous form could not be completed by anyone who had access to the pre-draft results. In S33, that ended up being more people than actually completed the task.
  • It required over 150 users to keep the draft results private. If a leak did happen, other users could earn more TPE than they otherwise should have, or the task could be ruined for everyone in the league, as was the case in S28.

Going forward, because the task will close prior to the pre-draft starting, it means that it will be open to all users.

One thing that we would love your input on though is what exactly the task should look like. If we keep it as a true mock draft where you pick the players who will be drafted at each position, a slight issue is that the teams picking at #13 and #14 (the Ultimus contenders) will not be decided by the time the task closes. So this is also an opportunity to explore alternatives.

At the top of this thread, you'll see a poll where you can have your say as to which of the three options below you like the sound of best. The options are:

Option A: Mock Draft
- Pick the player who goes at each slot in the first round
- 5 TPE for participation, 0.5 TPE for each correct answer
- Entries will be PRIVATE, and will not be revealed until the claim post goes up

Option B: Draft Predictions
- 10 multiple choice questions related to the draft (Eg, will there be more offensive or defensive players taken in the first round?)
- 5 TPE for participation, 0.5 TPE for each correct answer
- Entries will be public

Option C: First Rounders
- Name the 14 players who will be taken in the first round (order doesn't matter)
- 2.5 TPE for participation, 0.5 TPE for each correct answer
- Entries will be public

The TPE outlined for each option are illustrative and may ultimately change, so please choose based on the task you think would be the most fun rather than the task you think will give you the most TPE.

With all three options, we'll be introducing a PERMANENT 2X media multiplier on ISFL / DSFL mock draft content.(No longer a thing) Everyone loves reading mock drafts and we want to encourage more users to share their predictions on who might go where, especially if we decide to stick with Option A where the submissions will be private!

Another change we're announcing is a shifting in the timing of the Ultimus Week task. Going forward, this task will now open the Monday after the Ultimus and close the Sunday before the season kicks off, giving you 2 weeks to complete it instead of the previous 10 days.

This is being done for a number of reasons:
  • To make it so that all UW passes can be confirmed and posted before the task completes. Currently, some UW passes won't be confirmed until a few days before the task closes, which may result in a difficult situation if a user is expecting to receive a pass but doesn't.
  • To give more new creates a chance to complete the task. Currently with the task closing often before our recruitment push happens, it's a big chunk of TPE that a lot of users permanently miss out on.
  • To avoid the task spanning across seasons and to space out the task workload a little more, given that the mock draft task is moving backwards into the playoff week.

With this change, it means that the name 'Ultimus Week' doesn't really fit any more as the task won’t open until after the Ultimus. So we're open to suggestions for a new name! If you have an idea, please post below!

And as always, if you have any questions, please don't hesitate to reach out to a member of Head Office.

Tldr
- Mock draft task will open and close 1 week earlier
- Possibility of changing the task. If not, submissions will be hidden.
- Ultimus Week moving fully into the offseason, will last 14 days

“With all three options, we'll be introducing a PERMANENT 2X media multiplier on ISFL / DSFL mock draft content.”

This part isn’t a thing. HO should be consulting the media head before making such promises.

24 hour warning! The poll will close at midday tomorrow.

Please ignore option A, it's down to B and C.

Also confirming that we will not be going ahead with the 2x mock draft modifier.
