*First Game Film Analysis - Austin Morley, WR - soevil - 04-14-2022

Good evening everyone. I have been in the film room studying my performance in my first DFSL game. I was fortunate enough to be signed to the Norfolk Seawolves for the regular season finale against the Portman Pythons. I wanted to break down key moments in my debut and give you my perspective.

1. Although I didn’t receive the start, I got my first snaps pretty early in the 1st quarter. I can genuinely say I was not nervous at all. Those who know me know that I live to play and that I thrive under pressure. No moment is too big. Unfortunately, my first play in the DFSL resulted in a botched snap. No big deal, there’s always next play to make an impact! Wait; a false start! Turns out those two plays were enough of a breather for Kemp to get back on the field.

2. Mid 1st quarter and I get my first target! The read was a quick slant as the defender was playing 7 yards off the ball. The play resulted in my first career reception and I gained 6 yards. Nothing to write home about, but I am proud of the accomplishment.

3. Back in the game in the late 1st. First read on the play was to the TE in the flat. My assignment was to block the corner. I’m a willing blocker so it shouldn’t have been a big deal. Unfortunately I failed my assignment on this play and missed the block. It happens, but I cannot make a habit out of it. I need to clean that up.

4. 2nd quarter, had the corner (Upshar II) beat on a stop and go. My man better have bought his DL a steak dinner because if not for a sack that would have been a touchdown.

5. Still in the 2nd quarter and I get my second target.  I ran a crispy 5 yard curl and made the catch. Now I’m not the biggest guy in the gym, but I was juiced on adrenaline at this point and carried my man #6 for another 4 yards for a 9 yard gain.

6. Early in the 3rd quarter and much to the dismay of Suggs Upshar II I’m back on the field. 3rd and 3 and I had him LOST on the sluggo. Beat him for a gain of 37 yards. I definitely need to get the parachute back out because I CANNOT be out here getting tracked down from behind.

7. Somewhat insignificant but my first endzone look was a fade route from the 7. Unfortunately the pass was actually well defended for once by 6 and it fell incomplete.

8. 4th quarter means it’s time to put the game away. Fancy footwork off the line on the speed out gets me and the team 14 yards. You already know who was in coverage.

9. Nothing fancy here but a simple hitch against #6. Easy pitch and catch for 8 yards.

10. Final target of the game here late in the 4th. Glad I got to show off some of my route tree with a wheel route that went for 19.

It might not seem like much, but I’m happy that I got to the opportunity to get picked up for a week to showcase my talents before the DFSL draft. I’m excited to get to work in the offseason and continue to build my skill set. Any scouts please feel free to reach out. I have a lot to offer an organization on and off the field.
