I had a roommate who f*cking RUINED Metallica for me. Before I met this guy, I liked Metallica just fine, even saw them live once. Then I lived with someone who F*CKING cranked NOTHING BUT Metallica. Injected every conversation about music (or popular culture in general) with Metallica. WORE METALLICA SHIRTS DAILY. QUOTED LYRICS WHILE DOING THE DISHES!!!! I never made a big thing about it, but all the while I’m thinking … THERE ARE OTHER F*CKING BANDS! There are other THRASH bands! Does your most private and personal inner monologue sound like James Hetfield’s voice?! JESUS F*CKING CHRIST!
To this day, I can still appreciate the talent of their playing and song writing, but I just can’t listen to them without thinking about the stupid f*cking musical obsession of this one asshole I knew long ago.
