BALTIMORE, MD

Busch Goose has finally had it. After a gut-wrenching loss to the Sarasota Sailfish earlier this evening, the star running back stormed out of the locker room and officially demanded either the firing of the Hawks special teams coordinator or an immediate trade off the team.

Speaking through a translator, Goose had a very specific complaint.

"Honk honk honk honk honk honk honk honk honk honk honk honk honk honk honk hooooooooonkk honk honk honk, hooonkk honk honk honk honk honk honk. Honk hoooonk honk honk honk honk honk honk honk honk honk honk honk honk, honk honk honk honk honk honk? Honk honk honk honk."

("This is the second straight week that we have taken a small lead into the final 90 seconds of a game, 31 yards away from the endzone. It's fourth down and we expect them to send on the field goal unit, but what do they do? Punt the ball away.")

("In a juncture where a very makable 49 yard field goal totally changes the dynamics of how our defense plays the next possession, why would we punt the ball straight out of their endzone for a net gain of 6 yards?! Last week our defense was able to stand tall, but after having to do that all over again I don't blame them. I just feel sorry for our fans.")

Goose would go on to say that the decision making of the team's special teams coordinator should be in the spotlight. Daybe Downbad, the team's kicker, has already been tasked with attempting 4 field goals of over 50 yards this season and in his career has gone 70% from long. Many fans have questioned these punts as ultra conservative and surrendering the game - though others will say that the defense should have stepped up in a critical situation. In the end, a field goal would not have won the game for the Hawks, as the Sailfish scored a touchdown on their final drive - though Goose is probably correct in his assumption that the defense would have approached the situation differently up 4 instead of up 1.

While Goose struggled against the Sailfish this evening, he is having his best statistical season in his arguably disappointing career. He has threatened to leave the team before and never has - and so some Hawks fans may be more willing to get rid of the "drama chicken" before he destroys the locker room.

If only there were a way to program common sense into the video game instead of punting. Philly's last drive was three checkdowns with less than a minute and no timeouts remaining vs Colorado instead of any deep passes.

I haven't looked at Philly's strats but teams can decide what playbook they use in the final 2 minutes of each half when leading/trailing.
