HIRING: Sim Balance Team Interns - slate - 06-23-2022

Hello ISFL users!

The Sim Balance Team is once again hiring! This time we are looking for most likely 1-2 interns to join the team -  currently consists of just @Pat, @Swanty, and myself - on a season-long basis to help us analyze the balance of current league gameplay, identify areas for improvement, and work to develop and test potential fixes to these issues.

We are looking for candidates who:
- Take an interest in overall league health and making sure that gameplay is fair and balanced even when that interest runs counter to maximizing your own team's performance.
- Have experience with sim testing for DDSPF21. Bonus points for understanding how to edit and import roster files.
- Are comfortable analyzing data and extracting conclusions from it to guide decision making.

If you don't meet all of those criteria, but you think our work sounds cool anyway, I highly recommend you reach out and apply anyway! We would love to talk to anyone interested in our work about potential ways to contribute.

For the following season, the hired intern(s) will be eligible to be promoted to full Sim Balance Team analysts. Note that interns are not bound by the current agreement that Sim Balance Team analysts are limited with regards to sim testing for their ISFL and/or DSFL teams!

If you would like to apply, please DM me on Discord at slate#4532 with answers to the following questions:

1. What is your experience in terms of sim leagues, both the ISFL and others, especially with regards to other league jobs and sim testing?
2. What aspect of the Sim Balance Team's work would you be most excited to work on?
3. What is an area of the league that you feel is currently unbalanced, and what would you propose as a potential course of action the Sim Balance Team could do to address it?

Applications will close Monday, July 4 @ 11:59pm EST. We will aim to make hiring decisions within the next week or so after that. If you have any questions about the position or the Sim Balance Team in general, please feel free to DM me.

Department Information
The Sim Balance Team is tasked with taking a long-term view on league health and guiding decisions regarding what I call "sim infrastructure". This includes player archetypes, the playbooks that teams choose when submitting gameplans, and rules regarding valid depth chart and game plan submissions. Those interested in the team's work should take a look at the S36 Sim Balance Newsletter that we just released discussing our current thoughts on league balance, as well as the Sim Info subforum which contains much of our previous work in terms of notes for our roughly yearly balance patches which make changes to this aforementioned sim infrastructure.
