*S36 Champions and Their Stories - IceBear32 - 08-11-2022

After BACK2BACK championships, I wanted to give a shout out to the guys that put in the work and took this journey with us. Here is your Season 36 champions and their stories…

QB: Dexter Zaylren - Laser

Dexter was one of the first moves I was involved in after taking over for Sid as GM. Dexter was acquired in a trade during the S34 draft. This was a long deep discussion as we had a maxed out QB in Joliet Christ JR at the time. Ultimately we knew Laser’s league and sim experience could elevate our chances in our pursuit for an Ultimus.

Berlin receives:
HON S34 R1 Pick 6
Joliet Christ Jr.

HON receives:
Dexter Zaylren BER
S35 3rd rounder

Dexter is now 35 - 13 in the regular season with Honolulu and a 5-1 playoff record. This includes 2 ultimus championships and 3 Conference Championship Titles.

RB: Buffalo Hunter - Boom

Buffalo Hunter may be one of my most favorite trades since my time in Honolulu. Buffalo has had a journeyman career playing for many teams. Buffalo was on the last season of his contract in Philly during the S35 season. Just before the trade deadline we had traded for Buffalo Hunter to be our starting TE and give us that edge to finish that S35 season strong and give us that extra push to go win an Ultimus. We were happy to give Boom a home as we were able to agree on a new 2 season deal after the expiration of his contract that we traded for. With this resigning we transitioned the top tier TE to our new franchise RB.

PHI receive:
S36 HON 4th

HON receive:
TE Buffalo Hunter

Buffalo Hunter has since retired but will have one final season with the Hahalua. Boom is an Ultimus Champion both from the TE position and the RB position. We look forward to giving Buffalo one last great run to end his career.

RB: Goat Tank - Eldorain

Speaking on one last run to end a career… We were fortunate enough to receive Goat Tank at the trade deadline this season. Goat Tank, who has had a Hall of Fame career, was missing just one thing and that was an Ultimus. We were able to trade for Goat Tank from Berlin has he gave one last push to get a ring before retirement. Goat Tanks presence was huge in us securing the top seed in the AFCS and competing once again for the championship. Being able to play running back by committee would prove to be beneficial down the stretch.

Berlin Receives:
S37 5th round pick

Hon Receives:
Goat Tank

Goat Tank has since retired riding off into the sunset with his Ultimus Championship. We are excited to be a quick stop on his Hall of Fame career.

WR: Bayley Cowabunga - JK

Bayley Cowabunga was another trade. This trade took place in the offseason between the S34 and S35 season. After a tough Ultimus loss to the Chicago Butchers we sought after increasing our WR core. This trade included Joseph Radetsky who was a mid S34 trade for long time Hahalua Lalo Salamanca. Bayley did not line up with AUS timeline and wanted an opportunity to secure a championship.

AUS receives:
WR Joseph Radetsky
S36 HON R2
S36 HON R3

HON receives:
WR Bayley Cowabunga
S36 NOLA R4
S37 AUS R4

Bayley has been WR1 for the Hahalua in both of his seasons with us and has two rings to show for it. His stats may not be something to write home about but he has played a key role in both championship seasons.

WR: Sal Ami - Beck

Sal is our first drafted player on the list. Sal was an S30 round 2 draft pick for us. Sal was an immediate callup for us and played a handful of dominating seasons at TE before making the switch to WR. Sal is surrounded by a great group of offensive performers but is always able to find his way into the endzone. Sal is someone I advocated for hard during that S30 draft. I do need to thank Chicago for passing on him and taking Nick L. Back and giving Sal the motivation to prove them wrong.

Drafted 15th overall in the S30 draft

Sal Ami is finishing his 6th season with the Hahalua. In that time he has been able to help win 3 ultimus’. Sal looks to take over the WR1 position next year as the Hahalua go for the three peat.

WR: Leek Mai-Heinous - Br0_0ker

Back to back draftees! Leek was our first pick in the S35 draft. Leek just completed his rookie season as WR3. Leek looks to continue to be a focal part of the offense in the future. If this season is any indication he looks to have a very successful career ahead of him. Leek had this season’s biggest touchdown as he scored a 35 yard touchdown with just over a minute left in the ultimus. This touchdown would end up being the game winning touchdown. We look forward to many more of these clutch TDs in the future.

Drafted 19th overall in the S35 draft

Leek won their first (of hopefully many) Ultimus in their rookie season. Leek looks to play an even bigger role as we go for the 3 peat.

TE: Defo Not Leroy Leroy - Kobefromthefrobe

DNLL was this season Locker Room Captain and has been one of the leaders of the hype train over the past few seasons. DNLL was originally a WR that would then replace TE Buffalo Hunter after his transition to RB in S35 season.

Drafted 50th overall in the S30 Draft

DNLL looks to be nearing the end of his career but will play a key role for us as he remains TE1 for this season. DNLL currently has 3 ultimus championships between WR and TE.

OL - Beniri T'Chawama - Dex

Beniri has been a staple and leader of this OL since S32. Beniri was drafted as a RB in the S31 class but knew his true love was on the line. Beniri is a quiet hero but a hero at that. As one of the highest TPE users on the line in the league we look forward to the continued success of Beniri!

Drafted 6th overall in the S31 draft.

Beniri is a two time champion with the Honolulu Hahalua and we look forward to continued success for the big guy up front.

OL - Lane Frost - Lanefrost

Lane was a FA signing before the S36 season.

Free Agent Signing in S36.

Lane is a part of the S36 Championship run.

DT - Cade Williams - Dude_man

Cade was a mid season trade during the S35 season. Cade helped secure that D line as we moved into the final stretch of the S35 season. We traded both picks and our S34 draftee TMosura to secure Cade. Cade was a maxed DT at the time and created a new monster on an already scary D for teams to have to work around. Cade was a big part of strengthening our defense for the championship run.

HON receives:
DT Cade Williams
NOLA S37 R3
2M S36 NOLA Cap Space

NOLA receives:
LB Spot Robodog (TMosura)
S37 HON R2
S37 HON R3

Cade is now a 2 time champion with the Hahalua. Cade is near the end of his career but hopes to get us another great run before he hangs up the cleats.

DE: David Frank - Icebear

Everyone’s favorite player. David was an S29 draft pick. David was originally a LB but moved DE to get some long term consistency to this D line.

Drafted 8th overall in the S29 draft

David is a three time champion with the Hahalua. David will finish out his career as a Hahalua and hope to become one of the most decorated players to never actually be good.

DE: Stewart Hellraiser - Olilmandan

Stewart is another quiet hero among us. Stewart was a S 36 FA signing. Stewart was key in filling in for retired DE Bean Beanman.

Free agent signing in the S36 season

Stewart will continue to play a role for us. This was Stewart's first championship in the ISFL, but we hope to bring him many more for his help and flexibility with the teambuilding.

LB: Xavier Walls - JustTitan

Xavier was a much needed trade before the s35 season. Xavier played a huge role in our S35 championship and continued his success in the S36 season. Walls was one of the main reasons for the Defense's success over the seasons. Walls instantly made us contenders after this trade in the S35 offseason.

Philadelphia Receives:
HON S35 R1
HON S35 R2

Honolulu Receives:
PHI S35 R2
LB Xavier Walls S28

Walls is a 2 time champion with the Hahalua and the S35 Defensive player of the year.

LB: Big Slammu - Moonlight

Moonlight has been the heart of this defense for most of my career with the Hahalua. Slammu was a S31 Free agent signing from YKW. Then after a couple of rough season in Honolulu he looked into a career change and took a 1 year deal with Baltimore. But after just one season he knew where his heart belonged and returned to Honolulu where we would then go one to win back to back upon his return.  This one year vacancy allowed HON to go out and get Walls. So upon Slammu’s return the Hahalua would have one of the deadliest LB cores in the league.

Free agent signing in S31
Free agent signing in S35

Slammu is now a three time champion with the hahalua and looks to extend his career to break some franchise records while also pursuing some ISFL defensive records.

LB: Hex Aqua-Key’Kiann - Hexify

Hex has been the glue that holds this LB core together. Hex has not been one to seek stats but has been a great support role during his career. Hex has had many clutch plays over the year. Mostly in the form of PDs vs sacks. But when sandwiched between two DPoTY caliber players over his career what can you expect?

Drafted 26 overall in the S31 draft class

Hex is a two time champion and has been in a starting role for the Hahalua D for the past 4 seasons. Hex looks to wrap up his career over the next few seasons but hopes for the continued success of a top tier defense.

CB: Lip Gallager - Fever

Lip is one of our biggest free agent signings as of late. Fever joined us for the S35 season to team up with the rest of this dominating defense. Lip had a successful career with Baltimore and carried that success here as well. In that S35 season we were able to have both Free Agent signings of Slammu and Lip to really put us in the driver's seat for the season. Lip has been remarkable as CB1 and we look forward to his continued success.

Free agent signing in S35

Lip is now a two time champion with the Hahalua but also has one championship with Baltimore. Lip has now won 3 of the last 4 Ultimus. We hope we can keep his streak alive!

CB: Modern Nazgûl - Vulf

Modern was a draft pick we knew we wanted. At the time I was his GM with the Minnesota Greyducks and was very persistent in moving up to get our guy. Hon was deeply in need of a CB at the time and we knew Modern would fit with both our LR and our team needs well.

BER gets:
HON S32 R2 (Pick 28)
HON S33 R1
HON S33 R2

Hon gets:
BER S32 R1 (Pick 8)

Modern Nazgul is a 2 time champion with the Hahalua and looks to move to CB1 this year. The Nazgul and Gallager combo will continue to be one of the best CB combos in the league over the next few seasons.

NB: Ray the Manta Ray - Sid

RTMR was originally an OL GM pick during the S31 season. RTMR shed the pounds and moved to CB before the signing of Lip Gallager. This allowed for us to slide RTMR to the NB position and give us a key player at CB and LB support. RTMR was always gonna be a Hahalua and will remain one as long as he wants.

Drafted 20th overall in the S31 draft

Ray The Manta Ray is a 2 time champion with the Hahalua. He was there in spirit via GMing in our S31 championship run.

FS: Eleven Kendrick Watts - Numbers

Long time WR decided it was time to stop catches rather than pull them in. EKW was drafted 1oa in the S27 draft and has been a key player in the rebuilding of Honolulu. Both in EKW knowledge of the game and his his ability to stay relevant, EKW has been a contributing factor. EKW is another player who has won a championship in multiple positions. EKW transition to FS opened the door for the successful season of LMH.

Drafted 1 overall in S27 draft

EKW is a 3 time champion with the Hahalua. He has 2 Ultimus’ as a WR for the Hahalua and most recent won as our starting FS.

SS: Mile Weperom - MMFlex

Miles was our first round pick in S30. Miles was destined for leadership and quickly became leader of the Defense and team in S31. Miles has a great view of the entire field and has the killer mentality. Miles has been the heart of this league leading secondary over the past few seasons. We look forward to seeing what this group of ballhawks can do this season as well!

Drafted 2 overall in the S30 draft

Miles is a 3 time champion with the Hahalua both as a player and as a GM. We look forward to where the future can take us with this guy on the field.

On top of the great success of the players on the field I have a couple others that weren’t on the field that played a huge role in our success.

Cobra Kai - Orbiting Death
After being released on bail Corba played a big role in our WR

Guy Fields - R0tz
After celebrating the S35 Ultimus Guy was not seen again, but a letter was found in the back pocket of former GM Atto that read “I’m always here and I’m always watching”

Octavio Perez - Raven
Bean Delphine Jr. - Seymour
A couple of guys that just aren't big enough to play yet but have been great with bringing in the donuts and grabbing the coffee. (Isn’t Raven like the oldest ISFL guy here?)

Waluigi Gronkowski - Rickymartin_irl
Our current Waterboy who is also our biggest fan. “Stinger up boys”. We look for Waluigi joining us in the future but he has been great to have on the sideline during games and will be read to jump in when called on.

Atto
The Spirit still lives among us of Atto, sometimes in the midst of a tough decision we can even here his voice echo the halls.

The fans!

We have been fortunate enough over the season to have a great locker room presence with players from all over the league. They let us know if they did (or didn't) choose us for the weekly / playoff predictions. We have even gotten some HON after dark that I'm not legally allowed to write about. But thank you all for hanging out with us over these past few seasons. They have been an absolute blast!

Thanks for such a fun start of my GMing career!
