Sapp's Season 38 ISFL Mock Draft Version 1.0 (Part 1)

Welcome everyone to Version 1.0 of Sapp’s Season 38 ISFL Mock Draft. This is the first Mock Draft of the season, and potentially one of the only full round mock drafts that you will see (Until V2.0 :eyes: )! Thanks to the help of Zayn, this project didn’t take me three weeks to complete and instead only took a week and a half! Some things to note on this Mock Draft:
- Some data is old. Again, we took a week and a half to compile this data, so # of topics, # of posts, Bank Account amount, etc. will be out of date.
- Draft order is based off the ISFL week 5 standings. Half the teams were like 2-3 or 3-2, so it was really fun choosing who is on top of who.
- DSFL stats are based off of the fourth week. The stats are relatively easy to fix, however, more than half of the writing is based on week 4 or earlier, so I thought it’d be best to leave it as is.
- Some people like to have their activity on the sight hidden... with that being said, the activity level formula had to change, so please take that wording with a grain of salt. If you are using this for scouting, you may just want to visit their profile to confirm their activity level.
- Some players were just added to the bottom of the draft. I realize that these players may already be over 100 TPE and be deserving of a round 2 or 3 pick, but I am not going to change the draft order to accommodate them when I have already written about why ‘player x will be picked at this draft pick’.
- Please excuse the two parts in this mock draft. Due to the amount of characters, this needs to be split into two parts. The site’s character limit is set to 65,535, which we have exceeded
- If you are interested in writing for Version 2.0, please inquire with me on discord. The more people, the faster we can churn these things out and the less money I make. Wait…
With that being said, please enjoy!

In this first mock we have the Yeti drafting 1OA, and with that pick we have them selecting a user they know very well in SchwarzNarr. Schwarz was both a former GM of the Yeti and also has been know but many to be one of the most important users for the Yeti locker room ecosystem. It would not be surprising to see Schwarz go 1OA to any team but the fact that it’s the Yeti in this first mock, makes it almost too obvious a pick. The Former Rookie Mentor Head goes back home to Colorado. The Yeti, with many holes on their DL will be thrilled to add another solid earner and amazing user to their roster.

With the 2nd overall pick I have Berlin taking a former Salamander in Exilizer, while one might argue that taking a linebacker again after taking Hardline is a weird move, we felt that Exi was one of the best users and a someone DeWalt knows very well and trusts and would be able to replace the inactive LeDamian Beck. Exi is a former HO member and will be someone that the fire salamanders would love to snag for their roster in our opinion.

With the number three pick in the draft, the Austin Copperheads duplicate the act of the Salamanders and take another linebacker in the top three. Caleb Hayden has stormed onto the scene with his first ISFL player, but has made waves with his activity level, ranking number two for the rookie class in terms of TPE earned up until the end of August. The Coyotes drafted him number two overall in the DSFL draft, and although he is technically dropping here in this version of our mock draft, it goes to show you that the Coyotes picked right when taking the linebacker out of Boston College. The Copperheads are lacking in a lot of areas, so this pick goes part to picking one of the best players remaining, but also someone who fills a needed spot on their roster. With three of their four linebackers below 600 TPE, the copperheads desperately need someone who can co-anchor their defense with Spicy Ron, and Caleb has shown he can do that so far with the Coyotes after racking up 17 tackles and 2 sacks through his first three games with them. Only time will tell if he can resurrect the woeful Copperheads defense in time for an Ultimus run.

Zavier Perkins is someone I see SJS being very interested in. While he is a newer user in PBE and ISFL, there’s a pretty clear connection between him and SJS GM CKRoyal as he was drafted by the team CK founded in PBE the Outer Beach Aviators. With many PBE connection on that team like Gordon, Net, and AW I would not be shocked to see a Perkins as someone who is high on SJS radar and he will able to help bolster SJS aging LB Bam Bam McMullet.

With the Silverbacks first pick in this year’s draft, they go with our number one wide receiver in this draft class in Teenie Hodges. Teenie has put up some monster stats to start the season, racking up over three hundred yards and a touchdown in just his first three games, including the longest touchdown so far this season in the DSFL. The user, BillyBolo53 has been a regular in the league since his first created player, and despite not currently holding a league job, he is one of the most sought after users in this draft class to join a locker room. The Silverbacks hope that he can continue his high TPE gains with this player and round the Silverback’s offense that a bit older than most teams in the league. Hoping he can bridge the gap between the current team and the future team is a tall order, but one that the Silverback’s GMs believe he is totally capable of. Teenie would likely line up in the slot for most of his career, but that is where he thrives the most on the field. If he can have similar success in the ISFL as he currently is in the DSFL, the Silverbacks will welcome him with open arms to their team.

The first defensive back in the draft goes here at number six to the Chicago Butchers, and it fills a big hole for them in their secondary. Reshad Morris has been a staple for the Buccaneers so far this season, racking up a forced fumble and two sacks so far through four games. Even though he does not have any tangible stats to show in defending the passing game, he also hasn’t seen many passes come his way, and he is anchoring a top three defense in terms of yards allowed so far this season. Even though there are only eight teams in the league, that is mighty fine when you have the number one offense in the league in terms of yards, as well as the only undefeated team remaining this season. The Butchers have two strong Safeties that are in the latter halves of their careers, as well as one cornerback soon on his way out of the league and another who is a promising star in the making. If the Butchers want to have the number one defense in the league, they know Reshad is the player to take at this spot in the draft. As a teammate of Zavier Perkins, who went number four overall to the San Jose SaberCats, as well as another Buccaneer defender showing up later in the first round, Rashad has definitely cemented himself as an early pick in this draft and will hope to contribute to an ISFL team sooner rather than later. Any team that drafts him should expect him to want to play in the ISFL immediately as the DSFL will likely be too low of competition for him very soon.

This is a user that’s honestly a steal at 7, while RB isn’t a massive need for Nola, it is one that they could look to bolster long term to free up their GM to recreate slightly earlier into regression. I wouldn’t be shocked if they tried to bring Star back and figure out what they will do with him. Star is a great LR presence and good friends with several people in the Nola LR.

The first of two Orange County Otter picks here in the first round sees the second defensive back go in three picks with the Dallas Birddogs standout corner, Jimmy Jeeta being picked up with the eighth pick in the draft. Orange County has players that can contend at every position, but if they want to make an impact in the playoffs, they need to find star players like Jimmy Jeeta to take over. Jimmy is ranked third (first for DSFL Rookies) in pass deflections so far through four games, and has one interception on the season to pair with his 23 tackles. For a Birddogs team that is struggling to break past .500 this season, Jimmy has definitely been a highlight for them on defense. The user, QuirkyTurtle, has made some great impressions in his time so far in the league, especially with the opening of his sig shop, however, some may say he has slipped a bit in the draft as he has not been as active with this player, despite the high TPE values. Being ranked as the number two defensive back is both due to his high potential of a player, but also his ability to falter a bit as his career starts to gain traction. The Otters have the luxury of taking a chance with Jimmy here at the eighth pick, and may double down with their following pick if they do not have full confidence that Jimmy will reach close to his maximum potential.

Based on pure TPE this might be considered a surprising pick, however Eldorian is a super well known user who also created late so that is why his TPE is lower. He was a former long time member of the Otters and would be a welcomed addition to the otter Defense. Goat Tannk is a huge addition to any war room and I would not be surprised to see go to the otters due to the fact Otters GM Slate hold Eldorian opinions about the sim and war room Expierence in high regard.

The Outlaws get a steal of a pick here at number Ten in the draft, and they could not be happier taking the player with the highest total TPE. A first time user in Caravaggio has taken the league by storm with his player, Walrus Jones out of the University of Florida and the DSFL team, The Minnesota Grey Ducks. Walrus has been a force for the team as he has held up the left side of the line to allow for the best passing attack so far in the DSFL as well as the second best total yards gained for a team in the DSFL. Over the last three games, the Grey Ducks have outscored their opponents 96-54 enroute to three consecutive wins. The Outlaws have one of the most complete teams in the ISFL, which allows them the luxury of drafting an OL without feeling guilty that they are leaving a more stat-padding position on the board. Walrus should be able to slot right into the Arizona offense within a year or two of being drafted and will fit in nicely with the other three user linemen. Despite falling from his fourth overall pick in the DSFL draft, I do not think teams view him any less than they did when he came into the league, and if anything, view him as a more impactful user, just in a position that many teams cannot pick at this time due to having other positional needs to fill. Walrus is one of my top three prospects in this draft, and the Outlaws would be fools to let him slide any further than tenth overall.

The second defensive lineman to come off the board is one of the pair of phenomenal players from the Dallas Birddogs defensive line. Sledge Hammer, likely named for the impact he makes on the field like a sledgehammer to a nail, just eeks out the lead in front of his lineman counterpart in Jack Hammer. Sledge does have the favorable stats so far through four games compared to those of Jack, and many scouts say that he is a better fit for most teams despite lacking the TPE that other high end defensive players have in this draft. The User H0ppy75 has had a few players in the league so far that have not gone longer than 8 seasons, but general managers are hoping that this is his turning point in the league. With the lack of defensive line players, it is always a safe bet to take a player of that position and caliber at this spot in the draft, and even if he does not live up to his potential, he should be able to find a nice spot on the Hahalua’s roster or maybe some other team’s roster as well.

As mentioned in the previous player’s blurb, Jack Hammer, also a defensive lineman for the Dallas Birddogs, is the next player drafted here in the tail end part of the first round of the S38 Mock draft. Jack has been showing out more than Sledge has, but the on the field stats show that he is lacking. Maybe this is the case of positional bias within the stats? Or maybe this is a telling story of what to expect in the ISFL. Regardless of what answer is true or not, like mentioned before, defensive line is always a position of need for teams regardless of activity level. NamelessNate is working on his fourth player in the league after starting in Season 10. Similar to the user H0ppy75, NamelessNate has had trouble keeping one player around for an extended amount of time, but again, we are hoping to see something differently this time around. It would be nice to see these two players continue to play with each other as their careers progress, but unless a team decides to trade up or the Otters want to reach at their picks, it is likely that the duo will be split to start their careers.

With two players already in the Hall of Fame and a third player likely to be nominated at some point, JBLAZE_THE_BOSS is putting together a resume unlike any other in the ISFL. At this point a General Manager has to ask themselves, “what is the earliest pick we’d use on a guaranteed Hall of Famer, despite the position?”. You’d think that answer would be the first overall pick, but I have a feeling that General Managers will continue to doubt the greatness that is JBLAZE_THE_BOSS. Through four games so far, Johnny Blaze Jr. has racked up 25 receptions, Ranking him in the top eight in the DSFL while also being in the top ten in receiving yards so far this season. As just the second Wide Receiver off the board so far in an absolutely deep wide receiver class, Blaze makes his mark on the outskirts of the first round, and the Hawks should be thrilled to have him fall this far thanks to a lot of position fits for earlier picks. If General Managers start to wise up, the Hawks may need to spend additional draft capital to snag this soon to be star from the grasp of the other teams.

OL is a position that is hard to place for most teams since usually teams have bigger holes in more obvious places . However a user of 37thchamber caliber should not fall out of the first round. …Unbelievable! At the sixteenth pick in the draft, the Fire Salamanders finally get to choose a defensive back, and what better way to do that than to take a player named after a defensive back getting burned for a touchdown? Wait… scratch that. That is probably not a good thing. Anyways, Diggs has shown so far that he is one of the least likely players in this draft to be burned for a touchdown in a crucial situation. With 16 tackles through four games as well as an interception, Diggs has been a great addition to the Grey Ducks defense, a team that has given up less than 25 points a game and likely will never give up more than 40 this season unless their offense absolutely collapses during a game. Despite everyone knowing that this pick will undoubtably happen unless there are some trade shenanigans going down in the draft, this is quite a good fit for a team that is struggling defensively. If Diggs can continue his hot streak, he will likely see playing time with the Fire Salamanders some time in the next year or two, depending on how the defensive roster is affected by regression in the coming offseason.

Well I guess you could say, the Copperheads wanted you back! The Copperheads use the number three pick in the second round to take their GM player Carly Rae Jepson from the London Royals and the University of Austin. The Vancouver product has not quite shown the ability to dominate on the line of scrimmage yet, but has been putting in the work on the site as a top 15 TPE earner in this draft class. As the second defensive tackle taken so far, Carly has some room to move up in the draft board, but will need to surpass the likes of Jack Hammer to claim that prized number one defensive tackle designation in this draft class. I don’t see that happening mainly because Carly will not increase their draft stock past the second round due to the General manager Drafting rule.

Symmetrik is a well known user in sim leagues, and is someone who SJS would be thrilled to land at this spot. With Jaycee Higin entering regression and Sam the onion man not a viable long term WR, it would not be surprising for SJS to grab a sim league vet who is also on the sim team meaning they should have a long term passing option to pair with Lois Blodin to help Owen Ferrell transition into a better QB in the league.

“If I had a nickel for every player named ‘Tank’ that plays linebacker to be drafted in the first two rounds of this mock draft, I’d have two nickels, which isn’t a lot, but it’s weird that it happened twice.” Yes, you hear that right, Tank McGibbons is your nineteenth pick and fifth of this second round. As already the sixth linebacker taken so far in the draft, the Silverbacks wanted to make sure they snagged a position of need here before waiting to see who was all left for their third round pick. Tank McGibbons has been an enforcer for the Dallas Birddogs so far this season, averaging five tackles per game over his first four, and even racking up a tackle for a loss. Teams are hoping he can continue this trend once he hits the ISFL, but maybe even add more to his arsenal, such as the ability to blitz. If he adds that before the ISFL draft, he may see his name called a few spots higher and maybe sneak into the first round. There is only so much that his farm-made work out equipment can prepare him for the league, so he may need to focus on some training in the DSFL if he wants to shine at the next level. User MikeWhiskey has just started in the ISFL as of July, and is hoping that his first player here is a success. As the number five ranked first time user, he has a little bit of ground to make up, but Tank has many seasons in the ISFL to make him and his user proud.

With the twentieth pick in this Mock Draft, we see the Painted Penguin go to the Chicago Butchers. This pick is quite obvious as the user, Painted, is one of the current General Managers for the Chicago Butchers, but being an offensive lineman helps make this pick make sense. Like what was mentioned earlier, every team needs linemen, but only a few teams can afford the luxury of drafting a lineman rather than a position that interacts with the ball on a consistent basis, i.e. every other offensive position. Painted is just on his second player in this league after joining during the 27th season. And Painted is not just the GM of the Chicago Butchers, but also holds THREE (!!) other positions in the league, including the Twitter Team Head, Part of the banking team, and a rookie mentor. He would be a great fit for any team and no doubt a first rounder if not for the GM drafting rule. Now if he steps down from being a GM for the upcoming season, you may see some shenanigans happening closer to draft day…

BaconBrother is a sim league user who has been away from the isfl for a good bit of time, however he is back now and we have him going at this spot to NOLA. A good user who will be able to help the OL offensive Line long term. Nola does not have too many blatant holes so a OL who is also a strong LR presence would be more then welcomed! Welcome back Murtsi.

With a Runningback going as early as number seven overall in this mock draft, the Philadelphia Liberty were getting a little anxious to see if Aiden Frost would fall to them in the latter half of the second round, which in this Mock Draft, he does! Aiden has been a force so far through his first four games. With an average of 4.6 yards per rush and two rushing touchdowns, its no wonder that Aiden is the second runningback taken in this version of the mock draft. The user, LANEFROST, is working on his second player in this league and has definitely put his mark on the ISFL, with a whopping 83 created threads so far and a respectable $56 million in his bank account. Whoever has the pleasure of drafting Aiden will likely get a player and user dedicated to the league and willing to put in work to make himself a candidate for the Hall of Fame.

With the Liberty’s second consecutive pick in the second round, they go with another offensive stud in Bastian Weichselbraun, Tight End for the Portland Pythons and from the University of Oregon. Bastian has had a quite first four games in the DSFL, scoring only once and averaging just under three receptions per game. He has the size to be able to play the position, but many wonder if he will actually switch over to Offensive Lineman later in his career as he is a formidable blocker. The User, PDXBaller, is well known by veteran players in the league as a multi-time General Manager, but currently holds zero league jobs and is coming off of his fourth player, someone who retired after seven seasons and not even reaching the DSFL TPE threshold. If people want to know his potential in the league, look no further than his player Eli Kamaka, Who dominated all offensive lines during his time between the third and twelfth seasons of the leagues inception. PDX is a name that many new users should read about as he helped make the league what it is today, and could be the future for someone’s offense.

The outlaws have been searching long and wide to find a good player at this point however something went wrong and they picked Sherwin Blue Jr. in all seriousness Kotasas is the Zona GM and I’m sure his player will help lead Arizona too many more crushing playoff defeats.

Big Newff is a pretty solid user across sim leagues. While there have been a few issues with him playing deep into careers, I’m sure austin is more then willing to take the chance on a very positive user who hopefully can be a key contributor on their defense!

With this pick we have YKW select their former alumni and QBoTF in Gore Done Ram Say. Dead Lunatic is someone who played a very key role on the Wraiths for his entire career and looks to do so again. I would not be surprised to see him be the Wraiths pick in the first round since there are a number of teams who might consider sneaking a QB from YKW but for now we have him at this spot.

This user is TheSparkyDee, who is on the sim team and an all around well known user. Baltimore at the moment currently have a lower TPE IA player as their kicker and Sparky could come in and be an instant replacement at kicker. I would not be surprised if Baltimore picked a kicker in the draft and with a sim head on the board it would be wild to see him slip too much farther even if he is a kicker.

Jeff Newman is a player that has slipped farther then he should have. This is mostly due to the number of Wide Receivers in this class. However with a few aging members of the Sailfish recieving core. They will happily take a user who is super well known across leagues as an amazing user. I would not be shocked to see him go much higher then this however the depth of WR vs other players has made him fall to this spot in this mock.

I’m a WFC Team Member in name only. Mostly that means CC asks me to do stuff and I do it at the last minute.

But I wouldn’t mind going in the top 10 tbh
