*PMoney's Mock Draft - PMoney - 12-01-2022

Hey everyone, we all love mock drafts so I decided to throw one together quickly after a few seasons of not doing one. I take no responsibility for your first rounders TPE task but hopefully a few of these players should be useful finds for you if you have no idea who to pick. I had a quick look at needs but with position switches available and no regards for in draft trades to occur, there will likely be a few large misses in here (so please don't pretend I'm competent either @infern8)

#1 HON - Needs: Yes                                                                                                                                                                                                                     (WR, DT, DE, LB, CB, S, K)
HON @voxaroth - Seth Leavitt - CB  HON

Honolulu absolutely gutted their roster at the end of their championship window. They maximised their chances and it paid off big time now but it leaves a lot of holes to be filled. Thankfully for them they have 3 first round picks in this draft including the #1 overall pick and they take the highest earner in the class in Voxaroth. While he can’t play every position on defence for them, he’ll be a true shutdown corner for them as well as just being an incredible user who is highly involved in the league already. While Honolulu have 3 picks in this round and a lot of holes, CB is always a need for good prospects so Honolulu wont leav-itt until later in the round. Unfortunately they won't be drafting @IceBear32here as funny as that may have been.

#2 COL - Needs: RB, DT, LB, CB, S
COL @JuOSu - Maxwell Jacob Friedman - LB COL

Colorado have an excellent offensive future with LLL at his peak currently but the defensive side of the ball looks more like Honolulu’s current defence than they would like. For a team that had 5 LBs rostered last season, they only had Grayson Yates as an improving player as Jason Waterfalls starts to succumb to regression so they may select Maxwell Jacob Friedman here. While there are several LBs on the board that could all easily go here, JuOsu is as much of a veteran in this league as they come after several max-well earning players and can hopefully provide some stability in the heart of the Yeti’s defence while the look to other positions later in the draft.

#3 OCO via PHI - Needs: QB, DT, DE, LB, CB, S
OCO @FTR - Mo Gago - DT OCO

How this is the higher of the 2 picks Orange County own in this topsy turvy season we may never know but Orange county end up drafting very highly still in their own rebuild and select
Orange county will fill in their greatest need in the second round with their new QB, Smokin Jay so fill in one of their other needs here with Mo Gago. Orange County were running a DSFL quality DL last season and Gago should provide some stability at the position going forward if they go that direction. Promising LB Sim Sunigh could also ga-go here but that’s spoilers for later.

#4 CHI - Needs: QB(?), RB2, WR2, CB
CHI @Void_DCXI - Donte Darius - LB  CHI

Chicago’s roster looks fairly well set with depth all around even if not everyone is quite maxed out. They end up with a much higher pick than expected after aging Quarterback Kazmir Oles Jr. threw 22 picks but it should help them reload. Send down QB Brock Landers Jr. hasnt applied his TPE yet so hard to know exactly where he will stand once he assumedly gets called up, but I think he’s earning enough to take over. The one position where they could use some help is at CB, with both current CBs under 300 tpe next season. Without any top tier CBs on the board, they’ll be looking to someone who can switch positions and Donte Darius fits that bill. After a rocky previous draft for Void, he showed his worth as a user for New York and Chicago will be thrilled to have a max earning flexible player, so the donte need to pick strictly a position of need.

#5 SAR - Needs: QB, RB2, LB
SAR @Sebster - Willier Miller - QB SAR

Sarasota finally ended up outside of playoffs due to that bozo Carter Knoggt. Due to this, Sarasota will be desperate to find a new QB and will even play a player out of position if it means not having to start him so Willier Miller will throw some passes in the future for Sarasota. On a more serious note, Knight’s career is coming towards an end as an S31 QB and Willier Miller will be position switching to QB to take over from him when the time comes. While he has several seasons left, Miller will be ready just in time once Knight decides to say knight-knight to his career.

#6 BAL via NOLA - Needs: RB, WR, TE, DT, DE, LB, CB
BAL @dude_man - Jake Williams - RB BAL

Baltimore are in a similar position to Orange county in this draft. They’ve had a season they were thought to be tanking in alongside a 2nd first round pick from the team they traded with and that pick ends up higher than their own pick with them making the playoffs. With this pick Baltimore should select Jake Williams and solve their ageing RB problem. The only real question is whether he goes here or at their later pick at #9 but Baltimore's future will be “generally” positive if they “manage” this draft well. A max earning RB to soon take over from one of the greatest max earning RB duos of all time in Baltimore will continue on the trend.

#7 AUS - Needs: RB, LB, CB, S
AUS @"Rekkr" - Frank Dux - RB AUS

Austin have a couple of minor needs but none more so than at RB where Buckshank continues to be trotted out at frankly mediocre TPE. It’s working for them but they’ll be keen to add a true RB1 in Frank Dux. Rekkr’s last player was around for an incredibly long and productive career so they’ll be hoping for more of the same from Dux in this small RB run of the draft.

#8 OCO - Needs: QB, DE, LB, CB, S
OCO @SimmiZ - Sim Sunigh - LB OCO

As mentioned earlier, LB is a big need for Orange County and they get their guy here in Sim Sunigh. Sunigh is a bright and eager player who could well be a rock in the tough rebuild that Orange County face back to max activity and playoff games. While they’ve had a good season, the sim giveth and the sim taketh so it could be a rough few seasons for the team still until the new QB but Sunigh should be a top defensive player then.

#9 BAL - Needs: WR, TE, DT, DE, LB, CB
BAL @Lowkey - Johnson Lovehammer - DT BAL

One of the themes for most of the teams in the draft is a need for DT and Baltimore decide to sure up that front for many a season to come with Johnson Lovehammer. Aside from an excellent name to fit in with the current Baltimore DL theme of Sledge Hammer and Jack Hammer, Lovehammer would be a lowkey steal at this point in the draft being a veteran sim league user in the ISFL for the first time. While Baltimore still have positions to fill, they’d have found 2 very strong answers in this round to push to stay in the playoffs next season.

#10 HON via SJS - Needs: WR, DT, DE, LB, S, K
HON @fnordypsyduck - Waylan Greene - DE HON

Just like Baltimore before them, Honolulu look to add a difficult to find position in a DL as Waylan Greene becomes their second pick of the round. The DL for Honolulu last season had 1 player retiring and 1 with 54 TPE so Greene will become an immediate impact player for them, even if it might take a few seasons for them to make the long way-lan back to the Ultimus.

#11 NYS - Needs: QB, TE, DT, DE, LB, S
NYS @Tayjay - Blaine Falco NYS

None of New York’s needs are drastic currently with plenty of usable players in all positions listed. However QB of the future will be a need for them this draft with Savage hitting his second season of regression. For this reason New York should go ahead and select their next franchise QB in Blaine Falco. The former Yellowknife HoF defensive end is someone I know well and will be a great pickup for the Silverbacks once they eventually move on from Savage and the timing should allow Falco to be up and running by then. Tayjay wants to stay at QB and has history with the team as his brother Rekkr played there, so this is the blaine and obvious destination for him.

#12 YKW - Needs: WR, TE, DE, CB
YKW @124715 - Mario Moloka'i - DT YKW

Yellowknife are another team with a fairly complete roster but have a few areas that could do with strengthening soon. With the retirement of corpse player Miles Weperom, they need another DL and they add one in this pick in Mario Moloka’i. Numbers is an ISFL legend after several max earning recreates but is looking to take this create a bit more chilled so could slip down from where he would otherwise be drafted (#1) to the back end of the first round. Along with the next pick in the draft, these two players could end up anywhere from the top of the round to falling out of the round altogether due to the difference in how well respected the user is vs the potential for the player. I’m not going to attempt a Moloka’i pun here folks.

#13 HON via BER - Needs: WR, DE, LB, S, K
HON @"Laser" - Geralt - S HON

By pretty much any measure, laser the user should go #1 overall. But Geralt cares not for a team as a witcher rides solo and has already stated that he will be testing FA which could scare a lot of teams off. However his old team in Honolulu could roll the dice with hoping to keep him through his FA pitch due to their history, but also knows how invaluable a WR member he is after having him QB the team to 3 straight Ultimus games after trading for him, when he also went to an Ultimus game on his previous team. It’s fair to say Laser seems quite good at this game as well as being commissioner and every other sim league job under the sun so Honolulu will be thrilled to have him back. This would be a risky pick even still for a rebuilding team but I couldn't bring myself to leave Laser out, so Honolulu may look for some ger-alternatives as there are still some Good Player’s on the board.

#14 AZ - Needs:  QB, DE
ARI @zeagle1 - Donovan Winters - QB ARI

Another team with an S31 QB and another Arizona lifer to slot into the team. Zeagle played his previous career at Arizona and will be the future for Arizona. Only potential for him to fall out of the first round is if Arizona trade down to pick up some extra picks while they draft a player they know is a shoe-in to end up on the team. Even when drafting at the end of the round, Arizona find a win-ter of a draft pick.

That's all folks, comment below if you've got any strong opinions or I spelt your name wrong and don't forget to like and subscribe for more content like this!
