*S40 Host City Submission - San Juan, Puerto Rico - slate - 02-27-2023

I would like to submit for your consideration for S40 Ultimus host city: San Juan, Puerto Rico! While this is a solo submission, please give @Mojojojo 15% payout of this media piece for consulting on the logo.

Why San Juan?
As far as I am aware, this is the first Ultimus host city bid submitted for a city in the Caribbean. The region is world famous as a tourism destination and has lovely weather year round, meaning that many will flock to watch the largest event of the ISFL season and enjoy the sun, sand, and surf while in town.

San Juan is a well established city with a population of over 300,000 people and a metro area population of 2.3 million residents. This gives it a larger metro area population than Yellowknife, Honolulu, Sarasota, and Austin, and is comparable in size to the Denver or Minneapolis areas.

Puerto Rico, and San Juan in particular, also provide many qualities of an international city while staying a bit closer to home for many American ISFL fans. The city is the oldest European founded city under the jurisdiction of the United States, and the predominantly Spanish speaking population opens the Ultimus up to the vast Spanish speaking world that is currently left out of the ISFL with zero teams located in Spain and Latin America.

Where in San Juan?
San Juan is no stranger to hosting large sporting events, having held events including the Latin American Special Olympics, the first ever edition of WWE's New Year's Revolution, three World Baseball Classics, the FIBA World Championship, and the Pan American Games.

The event would likely be held at the biggest indoor arena in Puerto Rico, the José Miguel Agrelot Coliseum. This stadium was used to host an arena football developmental league championship in 2006 (!) meaning it would definitely be sufficient for the ISFL's needs as a playing field. Its capacity of only 18,500 could be an issue but I'm sure people will be able to find other ways to enjoy themselves, whether at the beach or in the city itself, if they are unable to get a seat.

What is the logo?
Look at it!! (Thanks a million to @.simo for iterating on the original and helping me with the final, updated version)

The logo prominently features the famous landmark, Castillo San Felipe del Morro (more commonly known as "El Morro"), a citadel built on the northwestern point of Old San Juan to guard the entrance to San Juan Bay. The silhouette of the citadel's tower is combined with a sunset color palette and a setting sun backdrop to evoke tropical beach vibes in conjunction with an appreciation for the history of the city. A prism-like beam of light refracts into the colors of the sunset inside the silhouette of the tower. Because I thought it looked cool.

Thank you very much for reading, and I hope you consider voting for San Juan in this season's Host City competition! Bring the Ultimus to the Caribbean!
