Notice anything? Besides Berlin’s shockingly good standing?

No? Let’s see something else.

1. Arizona-100
2. Sarasota-84
3. Yellowknife-82
4. Chicago-75
5. Austin-72
6. Berlin-70
7. Colorado-69
T-8. New Orleans-67
T-8. San Jose-67
T-8. Cape Town-67
T-8. New York-67
12. Orange County-64
13. Honolulu-63
14. Baltimore-57

Well that’s certainly a bit more illuminating, but just to be sure let’s see the averages!

1. Arizona-6.25
2. Sarasota-5.25
3. Yellowknife-5.1
4. Chicago-4.6
5. Austin-4.5
6. Colorado-4.3
7. Berlin-4.3
T.8-New Orleans-4.1
T.8-San Jose-4.1
T.8-Cape Town-4.1
T.8-New York-4.1
12.Orange County-4
13.Honolulu-3.9
14.Baltimore-3.5

Now that certainly puts things in perspective doesn’t it? From the top 7, every team with the exception of Austin and Berlin are in the exact same spot on the average home wins chart as they are on the rankings of total wins over the past 16 seasons, and the bottom of the chart is also very similar, which makes sense. Teams that win a lot will obviously also win a lot at home, and the same goes for teams that lose a lot, as you’d expect. However, there are 2 teams that, despite ranking middle-of-the-pack in total wins, are near the bottom in home wins per season.

The Silverbacks and Hahalua are both shockingly mediocre at home.

But why would this be the case? Why should 2 teams out of 14, both that have gone to and won multiple championships, turn out to be so…pedestrian in front of their home crowd?

Unfortunately I don’t have an answer to that question. Outside of “sim being the sim” there’s no real way to find whatever the cause is, but I thought this was something that deserved to be pointed out.
