*Octavion Speedings - CeeKay - 04-11-2023

Octavion Speedings is African American and from the hoods of Houston. From a young age, he loved to run. He participated in and demolished, if I may add, all track and field competitions in elementary, middle, and even high school. Even though he never had any desire at all to play football at the professional level and actually had Olympic track runner aspirations all the way through his junior year, his discovery of football is quite fascinating, and one might say it was MEANT TO BE! So what happened was that one day he was performing a 40-yard dash at his high school. Having run a 4.31, he was looking to break into the 4.2 threshold. Coach Ariel Johnson, who was the high school football coach, happened to be in the vicinity scouting another track and field athlete, and I think it's safe to say he stumbled on something special. So as he ran the 40-yard dash along with his competitors, he easily came out on top with a 4.29 40-yard dash, breaking his previous 4.31 and achieving his goal. Second-place Kenny Bruvvan (who Coach Johnson came to scout) came in and clocked an impressive 4.36. To say that his speed attracted Coach Johnson's attention is an understatement because he nearly begged him to join the football team, forgetting who he came to scout.Although coach Johnson wasn't the first to encourage Octavion to join the team, something about the coach's persistence made him believe that he might actually become a pro. Octavion went on to play high school football and track, earning several awards such as: A gold medal at the World Junior Championships represents the USA.
Now on to the good stuff! What are Octavion Speeding's strengths and weaknesses?

Strengths:
Speed: Pretty self-explanatory, Octavion is literally built to be a speed receiver who threatens to take the head of the defence constantly. With 4.2 speed and 218 pounds, he's not just fast and skinny. He can really put his head down after the catch and fight for those extra yards or two. Another thing about Octavion is that he competed in the junior Olympics in high school, just like Tyreek. who also runs a 4.29. The difference between him and Tyreek is that he's about 2-3 inches taller and around 30 pounds heavier. His speed really makes him a freak of nature and, honestly, very versatile on the field. Having played on the defensive side of the ball as a safety and corner, he used his elite recovery speed to constantly make plays on the ball.

Agility: As an Olympic runner, you need elite agility to win gold medals like he did. His ability to move so quickly and effortlessly and to go from 0 to 60 is really unprecedented. After vigorous training for his already otherworldly agility, he managed to even improve it, as he can not make cuts while running routes without even altering his speed or pace by much at all. It goes without saying that agility is his second-best quality.

Endurance is another important quality to have as a runner, and as Octavion is a runner, he possesses that quality. His endurance wasn't always his best quality though, as he could destroy his competition in more sprint-like races, He usually struggled with marathons and cross-country running, getting tired and exhausted quite easily. The guy Octavion is he wasn't going to have that. Thus, he had a trainer come in and help him vigorously train on his endurance and cardio. He did activities like walking, jogging, running, cycling, swimming, aerobics, rowing, stair climbing, hiking, and cross-country skiing endlessly, and the hard work paid off tremendously. Octavion now competes in marathons and cross-country races alike, and his ability to run for long periods of time without exhaustion has also helped him on the football field. Octavion can now go through whole games without having to sub out. He also used to play both sides of the ball for entire games at times. Endurance has to be one of his best qualities.

Overall Athleticism: As I mentioned before, his god-given athleticism is truly unprecedented. From the speed to the agility to his improved endurance, it's really looking up for him. He might even be the next American Bolt! Anyhow, his pre-draft measurements were actually ridiculous, almost video game-like. Almost as if he were a prospect built in NCAA 14 tailored just for football. *wink wink* For one, he stands at 5'11" and 98 kg, which is 218 pounds. But it doesn't stop there; he has 4.2 speed, ridiculous agility, and very impressive cardio, as aforementioned. He really has no comparison, but he's definitely in the realm of Megatron, Vernon Davis, Primetime, and DK in terms of just pure freakish athletics, hence why his nickname is literally "freak."

Weaknesses: I'd be lying if I said he didn't have any weaknesses. As he is quite new to the sport of football, it took some time to get the feel of the game. Understanding schemes, route trees, and just the rules of the game was a big struggle, but in the end he got it down. Anywho, let's get into it.
Intelligence:
His football brains, to put it bluntly, aren't all the way up to par. Heck, his brains in general aren't up to par, as he had a 2.3 GPA. The only reason he got offered into such prestigious colleges was obviously his God-given abilities as an athlete. But knowing Octavian, he could really do anything if he put his mind to it. The thing is, he couldn't care less about watching film! He's dominated everything he's ever graced in sports, and he doesn't think that's going to end soon, so why bother?
Hands: When Octavion was newer to football, this would definitely be at the top of the list of weaknesses, because, good lord, was he a drop merchant. But it's understandable as all he knew how to do was run, run, and run some more, so being a newbie to football, this was what he struggled with the most. If you watch his earlier high school highlights, it looks like Cam Newton in 2015 throwing dots to Tedd Ginn Jr. just for him to drop it. Although he's definitely improved on it a lot, Butter Fingers still has a ways to go.

Route Running: Damn Octavion's weaknesses are literally the fundamentals of the sport! Nah, his draft stock might tank with this one! On a real note, this is probably what least affected his game, as he was able to mask it with otherworldly speed. See, what he did was just run go routes and burn the DB. (Kinda like that bum on the Seahawks, DeeKay Metcalf)The only thing is that Octavion doesn't really feel the need to train on it as much as he found success with a limited route tree; hopefully he changes his mind.

And that's really it when it comes to the major weaknesses, but to round this part out, he still has some major character issues. One of them being that he's kind of a diva or cocky individual. Not listening to coaches and threatening to leave the school if things didn't go his way were some things that only got worse as time progressed. Can you blame him though? He grew up constantly getting praised, and it's admittedly hard not to let it get to your head.

Overall, it's looking great for Octavion, as the last we saw of him in the prospect bowl, he had a great week where he was the newest addition to the "Prospect Bowl Studs" list. His superior combination of athletic physique, speed, strength, endurance, and agility in comparison to the rest of the league is at the top 1% mark. Although it'd be good to make it known that a position swap is not something he has planned in the professional ranks, Octavion is going to stick at wide receiver for his career, hopefully. The projected top three wide receiver in the upcoming DSFL draft is expecting a call to be drafted by either the Seawolves, the Birdogs or even the BBB. not meaning that he wouldn't want to play elsewhere, but that would be his preference.

Wow, you’ve written more media in one post than the entirety of media that I’ve done since S13.  Big Grin

Speedings is high on my WR list of prospects. He did great in the last set of prospect bowls. Had him in my standout players. Looking forward to seeing how he does today.
