*S41 Host City Proposal - Dublin, Ireland - Akoustique - 04-17-2023

Aw yeah, here we go again, baby. It’s Ultimus Host City time!

Can’t wait to see all the submissions. It was a blast to venture into making these for the first time last season. I was torn between quite a few cities for this time around… do I go back and make a brand new logo for Paris and play into the XLI theme? Do I go for the poll-winning South American cities, even if I don’t personally have any relation? Or do I just swing for the fences and see what hits?

The latter option won.

Presenting, for your consideration: hosting the S41 Ultimus in Dublin, Ireland!

The city itself is known all over the world. When you hear Ireland, your mind rushes to old fortresses and castles surrounded by grassy, emerald-green fields. Rushing oceans slam against rocky walls, and the cities are alive with festivities and merry people. Let’s bring more festivities to Dublin. Let’s bring them even more opportunities to be the Fighting Irish by picking an ISFL team to root for in the Ultimus!

Besides the culture that has permeated through Ireland since prehistoric times, Ireland is rich in football history. Many of those football matches, alongside other various sports, such as the Gaelic Games, take place in different stadiums throughout the city, but the one we want to focus on for the Ultimus is the biggest one of all. Croke Park.

Croke Park is the national stadium of Ireland, and is designated as the Gaelic Athletic Association’s headquarters. Able to seat upwards of 80,000 spectators, Croke Park is the perfect place to hold an Ultimus game. In 2003, it was the venue for the Special Olympics World Summer Games, and in 2014, Penn State’s college football opener against UCF was held in Croke Park. If any stadium can handle the Ultimus, why not the third-largest stadium in Europe?

Now, the proposed logo. Really, the reason you’re all here.

The logo is filled with Ireland’s flag colors, and the iconic Samuel Beckett Bridge serves as the centerpiece, with the prestigious Ultimus trophy becoming the support of the harp-like structure. Underneath, the XLI numbers are large and in charge, while the Ultimus font gives off a flair that’s regal, yet reminiscent of Ireland.

Thanks for reading my proposal, and I can’t wait to see what the rest of you come up with!

May take the luck of the Irish to win this Ultimus!
