An old Buccaneer hangs up his hat - Thor - 04-24-2023  Good morning, good afternoon good evening or g'day.  When I stepped in as GM of the Buccaneers for the second time a season ago, the intention was always to help right the ship and set up the team for success in the future. My goal was always to step down after a couple of seasons once we had a solid plan in place for the future of the team. As many of you would know, the Buccaneers recently brought in a new GM at the beginning of the season. During this hiring process we had a few outstanding applicants, and the recommendation of our hiring committee was to hand off both GM positions instead of the one that we had advertised. The other aspect they suggested was that we stagger the hand off so that the two new GMs weren't thrown in the deep end during the offseason. So here we are, it's week 2/3 of the DSFL season and the Buccaneers are in a place that I'm truly happy with - so it's time for me to let go and help usher in the next era of the Buccaneers. I'd like to take this opportunity to quickly acknowledge all of the work that has gone into getting the team back on track, and all of the people in the BBB War Room that have contributed to the worst - first turnaround. I'd also like to say that coming back to GMing during the S41 class was a really fun experience for me, and I'm so glad I got to be around for it - so shout out to everyone that came into the league with that group (and the smaller yet still excellent S42 class). Alright, so it's probably the leagues worst kept secret but I'd like to welcome the new Bondi Beach Buccaneers GM onto the team - @aeonsjenni! We knew from when she first joined the league that Jenni had what it would take to become a GM, and we were very happy to see her application. During her time in the league so far, we have seen consistent kindness and a measured approach towards helping others and having a bit of fun banter along with it. Over the last couple of weeks, Jenni and Akou have been outstanding in their contributions to the team and I can't wait to see what they do together to create their own legacy as GMs. Thank you all for the opportunity to reignite my passion for the league, and good luck to Akou and Jenni - you guys will always have the full support of the war room and myself. You've left Akou and I a great foundation to work from, and it was fantastic to step into such an active and exciting team for my rookie DSFL season.
