New York City offers no shortages of opportunities for community outreach. From homeless shelters to soup kitchens to something as simple as picking up litter from the many dirty and disgusting sidewalks and alleys scattered around the block, which is exactly what Mandrews found himself doing the day after his 65-yard game-winning touchdown reception in overtime against the Austin Copperheads. The overly-populated situation found around every ISFL stadium just about always leads to massive amounts of trash that needs to be cleaned up after game days. In order to encourage the fans to keep the stadium and its surrounding areas clean, Mandrews hosts a “Win the game? Clean your seat.” event that encourages fans to clean their surrounding area after a Silverbacks win. If every single person cleans a little bit up, then as a whole the trash is taken care of and is not left in the seats or dumped outside the stadium.

Beniri T'Chawama is often in the shadow of some of the better players on the team and definitely at his age now he is more of a supporting character to the stars in the league. However, the team has for some reason decided to market him and get him some exposure as he is in his last season of his career. To do so, the Berlin Firesalamanders brought Beniri to a local pancake place where he went undercover as one of the employees. Knowing little about how the place is operated and fiddling his way through the experience, a couple of people started to notice him and his pranks as he would intentionally provide bad service and mess up orders. In the end, people started to catch on that this large worker is a little bit too big for the pancake place and looks oddly familiar as he messes up orders and offers to pay for customers. After a quick reveal, fans flock over for photos and autographs.

To give back to the great community of New York I decided to do a can food drive. Hosted in a local park near where the New York Silverbacks play their home games, I and some members of the New York Silverbacks organization set up a booth to get anything you wanted to be autographed by yours truly with a canned food donation. I'd say the event was a great success we had a long five hour day, signed lots of autographs, took plenty of selfies with fans, you know shook hands kissed babies that whole schpeel, and at the end of the day we ended up collecting fifty thousand canned goods for the New York City Helping Hands organization, they were very excited and thankful for our assistance in these tough times, and I really encourage everyone to do the same, these fans do so much for us, they basically pay our salary but coming to these games and it's the least we can do by giving back to those in need in the community.

Sailor Moon being the second string running back means that she is not quite as well known as the first string running back on her team. Figuring that she would need some more exposure to the community, the team set up her to help out at a local homeless shelter. First she got a bunch of clothes and food to be given out as donations before she headed into the shelter to meet the people there. She gave the food to the kitchen and helped start to cook some food there. She got a lot of soup for them, but also got a few whole chickens they could roast and serve as pieces to the people there.

She took a few pictures with some people while she was there, and the homeless people did appreciate the chicken peices. She asked them to tell her their life stories, and discovered that a lot of the people there have been there for quite a while. She even got the contact information of a guy who used to do a lot of lawn work with the thought of having him help maintain the field at Norfolk as a job.

The Chicago Butchers held their annual Community Cookout event last weekend. For rookies like Rico Savage, this was the first time they were able to take part in this experience. Rico started the day early as it is customary that the team’s rookies help set up the event. Rico was in charge of driving around the city picking up meat from various local butchers and buns from local bakeries. Once those were rounded up, Rico helped set up canopies and then tables and chairs to go underneath them. Once the event started, Rico, whose dad is a self-proclaimed ‘grill master,’ threw on an apron and started churning out burgers and bratwurst for the rest of the day. When all was said and done, Rico had served 500 hungry fans, a number his dad would surely be proud of. After partaking in leftovers, Rico and the rookies were once again called into duty, this time as cleanup crew. By the end of the day, Rico was exhausted but had a fulfilling day meating the local community and couldn’t wait for next year’s BBQ.

Over the weekend, Tijuana Luchadores’ rookie cornerback Dino Nuggets flew back home to Portland, Oregon to give back to his community. Setting up shop at the homeless shelter in downtown on Saturday and Sunday, Nuggets and his friends and family prepared Tyson ™ Dino Buddies and handed them out to out to locals. Each person received 10 dinosaur-shaped chicken breast nuggets, which contain no antibiotics, artificial ingredients, flavors, colors, or preservatives. They are also made with white meat only and contain omega-3. The best part is they are already fully cooked, so Dino Nuggets’ questionable cooking skills could not cause any harm. To go along with the chicken nuggets, people had their choice of dipping sauce: ketchup, ranch, honey mustard, and BBQ sauce were just a few of the options available. It is safe to say Portland was eating good this weekend. Nuggets is now back in Tijuana where he prepares for a pair of games tomorrow.

Josh Patterson spent his Saturday at the local children's hospital meeting young fans, signing autographs, and bringing cheer to those in need. He arrived at Evelina London Children's Hospital at 8 am followed by his personal assistant Emily both carrying sacks of footballs and pockets full of sharpies. They made their way into the NICU first. Greeting parents and extended family members with hugs and high fives. Emily was quick with the sharpies and Josh made sure no one in there left without something signed. Next he moved onto the cancer ward. He met with several young children bedside, spending as much time as possible getting to know them and their dreams. He finished his day meeting his biggest fan, Make-A-Wish Survivor Bailey Scruggs. Bailey was diagnosed with leukemia at 5 years old. Josh brought her a special gift today though, the 7th touchdown ball from his game against Dallas. He wanted her to keep it, and know he was pulling for her just as much as she cheers for him every week. It was truly a special day for Josh, one he will never forget.

Luigi Numberone decided to do what he does best: give little kids joy. To that end, he acted out in a play with his older brother and a couple of friends for the local Dallas Life homeless shelter. He remains really bad at picking parts, as he ended up giving himself more of a bit part compared to his friends and family. At the very least, unlike some other possible plays he could have put on, he did not end up trapping himself in a painting, getting insulted and talked down to by a door, or getting himself stuck in the air suspended by balloons. He was pleased to note that the play had been a roaring success, far beyond his wildest hopes, and believes that he has given Dallas Life a massive financial boost for the foreseeable future. As a final activity for the day, he also played soccer against all the kids at Dallas Life at once, ending the game 4-5.
