(S42) PT #5 - What Could Have Been

Complete the weekly Point Task to earn 3 TPE! All written responses must be at least 150 words. PT's may be submitted in another language, if you mention what language you are translating into, to make the job of the grader easier.

Do not claim this TPE until it has been graded and posted to the S42 claim thread. This task is due next Sunday, July 16th, 2023 at 11:59 EST. Have fun and get writing!

Written option: Reflect on one moment in your player’s career (childhood, college, DSFL, or ISFL) where they faced an important turning point - perhaps a season-ending injury, unexpected trade, position switch, or a difficult decision. How did your player’s reaction change the way that their career has unfolded? What ramifications has their choice or circumstance had on their future or on the league?

Graphic Option: Create a graphic demonstrating both the turning point and its consequences.

Affiliate claims from SHL, SSL, and PBE are accepted; link directly to your post and add a note if your username is different there. Make sure the week of the affiliate PT matches with the week of this point task.

Written and graphic responses must be posted solely in this thread and not for additional media credit. Also, if you try to build your word count by being super repetitive and rambling on, you will not get full credit. If you are caught plagiarizing/stealing someone else’s work, you will be punished as HO sees fit, including the potential loss of TPE or money. Do your own work please. If you have a non-full PT pass and would like to use it this week, make sure to post in the thread. No need to post in the thread if you have a full PT Pass.

If you have ideas for future PTs, visit the link below, and your idea may be used next week!!

(S42) PT #5 - What Could Have Been

What could have been with Norman Smiley with him is the transfer from wrestling to the gridiron. Norman grew up with the idea I'm life that he was going to go to America and wrestle in college. Of course his dad kept him in the books and he wanted him to go to a prestigious Ivy League school. Norman excelled on the mat in high school and got hom sent to Yale. Which he was excelling there as well. A shoulder injury ended his freshman campaign. As he didn't have to much to do while he healed he went to activities on campus and started to go to football games. He watched as he saw a sport where he could apply his wrestling skills and pure athleticism into a career. He tried out and showed the same talent he showed for the mat. The transfer was not something his father immediately accepted. But he saw how well Norman was doing and gave his full on Support. Norman knows he can make it in the league. He feels like he is faster then most players on the field and only hopes to get faster and stronger. He know this has changed his career and outlook. Going from a professional wrestler to a football player is a change that Norman knows he has the talent for.

La'Fluke has always loved to play football. Ever since he was a kid, he'd always played in leagues, in school, etc. While La'Fluke is a wide receiver, he was a safety in high school. As a freshman, he had started 12 out of 13 games and had racked up 53 tackles, 9 tackles for loss, 19 pass deflections and 6 interceptions. In his sophomore year, he had 69 tackles, 14 tackles for loss, 24 pass deflections and 8 interceptions. He was a very good defender when he was a safety. On his high school team, there offense didn't have any wide receivers the following year because they had been called up to college. So he had stepped up and because a wide receiver, and in his 1st season he had racked up 72 receptions for 1,256 yards at 10 tds on the season and had a little over 850 yards on the return game. Ever since then, La'Fluke has been playing wide receiver and now is a starter on the Dallas Birddogs.

4 catches
189 yards
3 touchdowns

This was the stat line for Mandrews McHollywood’s Season 36, week 13 game against the Dallas Birddogs. This was, and probably still is, the biggest game of his entire career. This game would go on to guarantee him a spot on the first-team all-pro team for the DSFL’s 36th season and won him the offensive performance of the year award during the awards show held in the offseason.

This game took place as his penultimate game in his DSFL career during a 5-9 lost season in his first year as a speed receiver, and although he ended the year as the Coyotes top receiver with over 1300 yards and 11 touchdowns, for most of the season he struggled with the change, falling behind both Zaphod Beeblebrox and Octavio Perez. In fact, before this game took place Mandrews was questioning whether the change was a wise one, and even contemplated switching back after the season had ended. After that week 13 game however, no more questions remained, and Mandrews has stayed as one of the leagues best speed receivers ever since.

RE: (S42) PT #5 - What Could Have Been - Thor - 07-09-2023

Thor's career in the ISFL is yet to begin in earnest, though he was picked up on waivers by the Kansas City Coyotes, he whas not yet played in a game for them. Instead we're going to focus on the decision he had to make when accepting a college sponsorship where it came down to two schools which Thor had to decide between. On one hand, the institution of Old Valhalla University which would provide him a home to play the sport he loved on the highest level alongside his brother Loki, or on the other hand Asgard College where he would have a much greater focus on academics alongside his football career. In the end, Thor decided to go to Asgard College and showed that he put a high value on his education over family - this set off a deep seated rivalry between the two brothers which has had effects felt across the Asgard and even spilling over into Midgard.

The hardest turning point in Wing Gundam's career thus far was during his high school career. Until then, he'd been able to have easy success on the football field thanks to his naturally large build and inherent athleticism. The day came when facing their team's most bitter rivals during an away game.

Gundam lined up against the largest, most aggressive offensive lineman he had ever played against. Wing had encountered his kryptonite - he was stifled entirely. No matter what he tried, his technique was too weak to overcome the physical disadvantage. Is this how people feel playing against me?

Blanked on the stat sheet, the bus ride home was a quiet one for Gundam. The team gave him some consolation pats on the back, welcoming him to the world of mortal men.

Wing Gundam learned the value of practice and study that day. From then on, he has been dedicated to improving his overall ability, not just his physicality. A bitter lesson learned early has resulted in great success on the field later in his career.
