Edits to call-ups/send-downs - Daybe - 09-19-2017

I've noticed lots of people are unhappy with the way call-ups and send-downs work. I've brainstormed a couple ideas of what could benefit the DSFL teams who lose their players.

The first idea is that if a DSFL team loses one of its players due to a call-up, they immediately get moved to the front of the waiver claim order so they can immediately find a replacement.

The second idea is a bit more complicated. If an NSFL team sends down a player and calls up a player, then the DSFL team should get first dibs on the player the NSFL team sent down.

I think this is a good idea. Feels bad screwing over DSFL GMs but we've gotta do what we can to try win in the NSFL

The first idea is okay, but it's not something that I foresee being a long term problem. As NSFL players get better and better they won't have a spot for a 150-200tpe player. Those types of players will be very low impact, and teams will likely send them down for two reasons. First reason being that an active player would likely prefer to be sent down to be an impact player instead of coming up and hardly contributing to the team. Any good NSFL gm will discuss being called up or being sent down with his active prospects and it should be a decision that the player has some say in. Second reason, I guess I already touched on, but teams will be better as we get further, so even an inactive player may still be better than the prospect.

The thing about the second suggestion is, this is only an issue for one season. Since every player will have to start their career in the DSFL now, their rights will already be owned by a DSFL team before they enter the NSFL draft. So if an NSFL team calls up one player and sends down another, that sent down player will already have a team who owns his rights and that's where he will go down to.

I don't want to make changes that are band aids for a season or two just to be changed back after we get to the points we are anticipating and preparing for.
