*S44 Swansea Ultimus Bid - Aleris - 10-03-2023

As hopefully many of you know there is an SHL player named Conner Snooks, who is nearing the end of a long and illustrious career in sim hockey. Conner was drafted to the Philadelphia Forge and during his time there, he fellow in love with American Football and went to as many games of the Philadelphia Liberty as we could. He even became a bit of a celebrity as the broadcasts would constantly show him partying in his suite. This was, of course, before they were ripped away from him (prior to his trade to Edmonton). In the twilight of Conner's career he has been looking to get involved more with his hometown of Swansea, Wales. So together with his sister Eirlys (retired journeyman SSL defender), Conner got involved with trying to bring the Ultimus Bowl to Swansea!

Swansea is a small sized city on the idyllic coast of South Wales. It's a great tourist spot with beaches and beautiful hiking nearby. Unfortunately not home to any sim league teams (yet), and the most important sport is soccer in the city. But I think in line with the ISFL's initiative to spread the game of American Football into every nook and cranny of the globe (like the Everglades or Easter Island) Swansea would be another important place to host an Ultimus Bowl.

Swansea is home to a soccer team (in real life) and the 21,088 capacity Swansea.com Stadium would be the perfect venue for the Ultimus Bowl. The stadium is relatively new having been built in 2005 and there are also plenty of places to set up fan zones so that overflow capacity can enjoy being part of the celebration of the Ultimus Bowl if they are unlucky enough to not get into the stadium.

Would it surprise you that the swan is the animal heavily associated with Swansea (it surprised me!), so for the Ultimus Bowl logo I decided to try and use a swan as the main part of the logo. I really wanted to keep the logo simple and easy and I also wanted to invoke some of the simple style from the the old (from like 2019) Swansea City FC logo. I also wanted to use the colors of that same soccer club in the logo, which are black and white, really bring together a minimalist and clean logo. I really messed around with text placement quiet a bit wanting to follow the curves of the majestic swan, but it never really worked out. So I instead opted for making the Roman numerals of the Ultimus as big as possible and I fell in love with it. So I present, the (hopeful) logo for the S44 Ultimus Bowl in Swansea, Wales.

and a background free logo as well, I'm happy with both, but I wanted to show it against a white background for those in dark mode

Thank you for reading! There's already 3 other awesome submissions so far that are killer. I love that the ISFL does this competition. It's really cool to move the game around as a community every year and that the Ultimini and WFC also get use out of it as well!
