*S46 Efficiency Stats - caleb.grim - 03-07-2024 Throughout the regular season, I have been compiling the box score stats available in the index to come up with some efficiency metrics for each of the 14 ISFL teams. The design is to come up with a better lens through which to understand the success (or lack thereof) beyond the usual point differential and total yards gained or allowed. Through the compilation of data, maybe you will be able to come up with narrative’s as to why your team achieved what they did in S46. Stats Gathered Each box score provides us with some good information. Will I gathered all the information that was readily available, the fun metrics that I was able to use this information for include: 3rd down success rate, yards per rushing attempt, yards per dropback (including yards lost on sacks, something that the sim doesn’t take into account when calculating passing yards or total yards), turnover differential, and time of possession differential. With these “advanced stats” at our disposal, let’s take a dive into each team’s profile for season 46. If you are interested in pursuing the raw data which include some additional information that I will not be highlighting in this article, please take time to look through the google sheet here. Before we get into individual team data, we should establish the league average for certain metrics. That way we can get a sense as to how well each team did. It’s worth pointing out that the league average for offensive stats would be the same as the league average for defensive stats so each statistic will only be listed once even though we will compare team’s offensive and defensive stats to the average. Any differential stat will average out to 0. 3rd Down Conversion Rate: 35.6% Yards Per Dropback: 5.58 Yards Per Rushing Attempt: 4.20 As we look at each team, we will use a radar chart to plot percentiles (a rating of 0 to 100) for 8 different categories.
