*DSFL Week 13 Preview - kckolbe - 10-10-2017

Chicago @ Portland
We end week 13 with the uncannily lucky Chicago Blues on the road, where they will attempt to hold on to their home field advantage in the Relicum Bowl (I hate that name so much. Of all Noble's sins against sim leagues, this is easily the worst). The Pythons, meanwhile, are out to do far more than play spoiler. This is the first of two conference games for them, both at home, and winning both would actually get them into the playoffs. For a team coming off a four game losing streak, that sounds like a tall order, but this team has been written off before. It doesn't help that in three prior meetings this year, the Pythons are 0-3 with a 33 point deficit.

Marshals @ Luchadores
This game may not be particularly important to either team. The Tijuana Luchadores are the only team eliminated from playoff contention. The Marshals, meanwhile, have only a slim hope of taking home field from Chicago. Despite being on the road, the Marshals have fared pretty well against the Luchadores, winning both games in San Antonio and finishing the three game series with a 16 point lead.

Kansas City @ Norfolk
After that, we continue our break from important football. This is not an insult to either team, as this might actually be the most exciting offensive match-up possible. Shawn Brady and Christian Adams are two of the top 3 QBs in passing yards, and both Kansas City and Norfolk are still very much in the playoff hunt. The problem is that this game means almost nothing to the Coyotes, whose conference advantage rides solely on their week 14 match against the Marshals, though a win in Norfolk AND in Kansas City could give them home field all through the playoffs. For Norfolk, this game could mean even less. If Portland wins against Chicago (which good money is on), then this game is irrelevant. If Portland loses and Norfolk wins, though, their Week 14 road trip becomes irrelevant. The SeaWolves and Coyotes have met once this year, and the Coyotes won 19-6. You can bet that Norfolk wants to return the favor.

Should it be named the Alex Jones trophy after we win it?
