*S48 DSFL Draft Grades - AustinP0027 - 05-21-2024

The S48 DSFL draft is complete, so let’s take a look at the teams and see how they graded out!

NOTE: Grades are based on call ups, IA, and draft only. Position changes or waivers since draft are not considered.

BBBBondi Beach
Losses to Call Ups:
CB - 1
LB - 2
WR - 2
Total: 5

Losses to IA:
FS - 1
LB - 1
RB - 2
T - 1
TE -1
WR - 1
Total: 7

Draft:
R2 - P9: Slam Dunkinson, DE
R3 - P21: Joe Brewer, QB
R4 - P29: Julian McMorris II, RB
R5 - P37: Thaal Sinestro, DT
R6 - P45: Nathan Bodie, DE
R7 - P53: Hal Taylor, OL
R8 - P61: Bishop Milloy, S

Bondi lost 5 defensive players and 7 offensive players. In return, they drafted 4 defensive players and 3 offensive players. Fairly equal return, but their defense might be a little challenged given they only have 1 linebacker and 1 cornerback. That’s really the only gap in their lineups, though.

Grade: B+

DALDallas
Losses to Call Ups:
DT - 1
G - 1
LB - 2
RB - 1
T - 1
Total: 6

Losses to IA:
CB - 3
LB - 1
RB - 1
TE - 1
WR - 2
Total:  9

Draft:
R1 - P1: Alexander Rockstone, CB
R1 - P5: Zimm Triumph, S
R2 - P13: Tony Chazz, DT
R3 - P17: Zack Vega Jr., QB
R4 - P25:Sweet Sweet Ganjasmoke, RB
R4 - P31: Nathan Abel, OL
R5 - P33: Darius Fasttrack, WR
R7 - P49: William Metzler, K
R8 - P57: Gabriel Finley, TE
R9 - P65: Elijah Williams, RB

Dallas lost the second highest number of players with a total of 14. That’s a huge hit across both sides of the ball, 7 for both. Offensively, they lost both running backs, and 2 wide receivers. They were able to replace the running backs in the draft and pick up a wide receiver. Defensively, they lost all their cornerback and linebacks, but only managed to grab a cornerback in the draft. They did pick up a safety though, which they didn’t have before. The main knock to their draft was picking up another QB when Qiller was still there and not capped yet. If that pick had been a linebacker or another wide receiver, their draft grade would have jumped up.

Grade: B

KCCKansas City
Losses to Call Ups:
CB - 2
FS - 1
WR - 1
Total: 4

Losses to IA:
CB - 1
LB - 2
Total: 3

Draft:
R1 - P3: Devin Mace, OL
R2 - P11: Douglas Capybara, CB
R3 - P19: Jonah Wallis, CB
R4 - P27: Tua Domine, LB
R5 - P35: Marshall Von Hildebrand, K
R6 - P43: Bauce McSauce, WR
R7 - P51: Klaus Reinhardt, OL
R8 - P59: D Foo, TE
R9 - P67: Michael Knight, WR

Kansas City had the second fewest total number of players lost with 7 (4 call ups and 3 IA). The hit landed mostly on the defense losing all their cornerbacks, 1 safety, and 2 linebackers. In return, they draft 2 cornerbacks, a safety, and a linebacker to build their defense right back up. They also managed to grab 2 OLs and 2 WRs to expand their offense further. KCC filled all their position needs perfectly during this draft.

Grade: A

LONLondon
Losses to Call Ups:
CB - 1
DE - 1
DT - 1
LB - 1
QB - 1
RB - 1
SS - 1
WR - 1
Total: 8

Losses to IA:
WR - 1
Total: 1

Draft:
R2 - P14: Ajax Sakarias, WR
R2 - P15: Kim Yeon-Seok, CB
R2 - P16: Dexter Morgan, QB
R4 - P30: Lakin Makin, TE
R4 - P32: Hot Dam, DT
R5 - P38: Snoop Hogg (now Secret Squirrel), WR
R6 - P41: - Baymax, OL
R6 - P44: Richard Johnson, OL
R7 - P52: David Carson, K
R8 - P60: Jobin Dean, CB
R9 - P68: Matt K, WR

London lost 9 players to call ups or IA, 5 on defense and 4 on offense. In return, they drafted 3 defensive players and 8 offensive players. Still, because their losses on defense were 1 per position, they end up with a decent looking coverage of the defensive positions while gaining back the wide receivers they lost along with two offensive linemen. The London grade would be better, but I’m subtracting points for that first round trade which I think we can all agree didn’t make a ton of sense.

Grade: A-

MINMinnesota
Losses to Call Ups:
CB - 1
DT - 1
FS - 3
G - 1
K - 1
LB - 4
RB - 2
WR - 1
Total: 14

Losses to IA:
WR - 3
Total: 3

Draft:
R1 - P4: Joe Blaze, S
R2 - P6: Benny The Jet, WR
R3 - P22: Duke Silverback, DT
R5 - P36: Kool Kyle, RB
R6 - P46: Makoa Mahi’ai Jr., OL
R7 - P54: Aaron Youngblood, DE
R8 - P62: Cage Beers, OL

Minnesota lost 17 players. 17! 14 of those were call ups. They lost all their linebackers, all their safeties, all their wide receivers, and 2 of 3 running backs. They needed players in the worst way. You can see it in their draft, as they grabbed players all over the place position-wise, bringing all 3 positions with 0 back up to at least 1. Given how bad they were in the linebacker and wide receiver space, I would have wanted to see one of those grabbed instead of two offensive lineman, however, so I think that drops their grade a little. Hard to fault them based on just their end roster state, though, given how many players they lost.

Grade: B+

NORNorfolk
Losses to Call Ups:
CB - 1
FB - 1
FS - 1
WR - 1
Total: 4

Losses to IA:
LB - 1
QB - 1
RB - 3
WR - 3
Total: 8

Draft:
R1 - P: D’Squarius Green Jr., TE
R2 - P: Frosty Steele, LB
R3 - P: Billdozer Dauterive, LB
R4 - P: WW Jatt, DT
R5 - P: William Eaton, RB
R6 - P: Kevin Finnerty, TE
R7 - P: Anthony Stover, LB
R8 - P: Trae Jones Jr, TE
R9 - P: Ralph Johnson XXVI, RB

Norfolk lost 11 players to call ups and IA, losing 4 wide receivers, all their running backs, and 3 defenders. Their draft return was all LBs and TEs. Well, not actually but taking 3 LBs and 3 TEs is certainly an interesting choice. Amazingly, their roster still looks solid, so basing it only on the draft doesn’t actually match what they will produce this year. But it’s hard to give a high grade for taking a 2nd and 3rd TE when you only have 1 WR on your roster. Waivers/Position Swaps are in their future.

Grade: B-

PORPortland
Losses to Call Ups:
CB - 1
FS - 1
LB - 2
RB - 2
TE - 1
WR - 1
Total:  8

Losses to IA:
DE - 1
LB - 1
T - 1
Total: 3

Draft:
R1 - P: Katya Zamolodchikova, QB
R2 - P: FTBLLCMR4D RUS-KCKR-001, K
R3 - P: Harvin Marrison, WR
R5 - P: Ci Brez, DE
R5 - P: Trey Daniels, RB
R6 - P: Chad Broksi, K
R7 - P: Walter Melon, CB
R8 - P: Kentrell King, CB

Portland lost 11 to call ups and IA. Including all their linebackers, 2 of their 3 running backs, and 3 other players on both offense and defense. So, their needs were everywhere. Their response was drafting 2 kickers, 2 cornerbacks, a second QB (yes, I know position swaps mean it’ll be only 1), plus WR, RB, DE. They end the draft with no linebackers, 2 kickers, 4 running backs, and only 1 wide receiver. Position swaps and waivers again, but not great for a draft.

Grade: C+

TIJTijuana
Losses to Call Ups:
Dt - 1
K - 1
WR - 1
Total: 3

Losses to IA:
LB - 1
QB - 1
TE - 1
WR - 1
Total: 4

Draft:
R1 - P7: Bazooka Nuttingham, RB
R3 - P20: Liggy Jiggy, CB
R3 - P23: Otto Wolff, K
R4 - P28: Connor Craig Jr. Jr., OL
R6 - P47: Oliver Harford, WR
R7 - P55: Kharmoni Woods, DE
R8 - P63: Jordan Carter, RB

Tijuana lost the fewest players with 6. The only real hits were losing 2 wide receivers. You would think they would prioritize that higher, but instead they took RB/CB with their first two picks. Taking a kicker makes sense, they lost their only kicker. They didn’t have much they needed to replace, but I think getting more WRs would have helped them more.

Grade: B+

RE: S48 DSFL Draft Grades - wetwilleh - 05-21-2024

in PORs defense, we use RB and TE in the WR slot so only 1 WR is fine. Our defense is in shambles tho

RE: S48 DSFL Draft Grades - g2019 - 05-21-2024

TE and LB go brrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrr

RE: S48 DSFL Draft Grades - roquefort - 05-21-2024

Good luck covering Norfolk TEs when Norfolk owns all the LBs
