*Krumbling Newspaper:DSFL Prospect Kal Summers Jr - MrKrumz - 07-06-2024

In a tense Rookie Class that's talked more then they've played, a WR tries to stand out against the rest.

Kal Summers Jr, an interesting prospect out of USC has already made a statement at the prospect games. Walking away from the first game with 4 catches on 6 targets netting him 45 yards, and 2 TDS.

This performance earned a Direct shoutout after the game from his QB Jack Cannon a great praise for a prospect currently just trying to make a team.

Like his time in USC he's already become a QB favorite in the Redzone. He's show that silky smooth route running with a mixture of height and strength that leaves Corners on the ground more often then not. On the second drive for the Mexico City Aztecs they'd driven themselves to the 9 yards line where Summers was put on the field. Summers shot off the line hitting the corner with a stutter step that made his knees buckle, as Summers dashed past him to a wide open endzone fellow prospect standout Jack Cannon hit him with a nice touch pass. Summers secured the ball with not a defender in sight thanks to his buttery route running. He hit his signature move with a superman shirt tear into a flex. I think whatever team that drafts him will being seeing this celebration a lot.

On the next Drive for the Aztecs Summer once again found himself in the Redzone on 4 yard line where once again his dicey move set gained him leverage on his corner, seeing the small opening Summers created Jack Cannon rockets a ball low and fast that Summer completely laid out for trapping between his chest and arms. Standing up and hitting his classic Superman flex, and jawing it out with the corner who was missing his ankles. Once again showing that Summers is a Dream for a QB, a guy who you know is coming down with the ball.

Overall Summers Jr showed that he's still deadly in the Redzone his unique combination of Speed, Height, Weight, and route running make him a Defensive nightmare at the Goal line. I would like to see improvement in his "Between the 20s" game. He seemed to not have much action thrown his way when there isn't a scoring opportunity at hand, or a short 3rd down. He's proven he can catch touchdowns, but I wanna see him put more yards in a game getting his team to the Redzone. He had a catch in the second game of the day where he didn't see nearly the same amount of action that I think we need to see more of from the young prospect.

Late in the third quarter Summers used a nasty joke move to break free and catch a 23 yards pass that for a moment I thought he was taking to the house, but a CB missing his ankles caught back up with him. This catch helped break a stagnant 3rd quarter, and set his team up for a field goal. You could see how his passion, and trash talking rallied the team in the second half as they came back to beat the Guardians. This is the Kal Summers Jr I wanna see more of. A man that rallies his team when games turn into slugging matches, but we'll have to wait and see if that emerges.

I think that Kal Summers Jr is one of the more intriguing prospects in this year DSFL draft. He has all the making to be a WR that can take over games, but he needs to find ways to get open more in the open field, and not just open for Touchdowns. Keep an eye out for the possible future star in tonight's games.
