Has has become the norm, we are supporting two charities during this drive, with a similar area they cover, but one focusing on the US where the large majority of our users are, and the other being an international alternative for those that may wish to go that route in their donation. The choice of charities and focus was a no brainer following June and Pride Month. All people deserve the ability to be themselves whilst being safe, and in an extension of that celebration and commitment to make sim leagues a safe space for all, we are excited to announce the two charities we are supporting to be the Trevor Project and Outright International.

The Trevor Project is the top suicide prevention helpline for members of the LBGTQ+ community in crisis. In many cases, resources aren't always available for young people who need someone to talk to before they make a decision that cannot be undone. LGBTQ+ young people are more than four times as likely to attempt suicide than their peers. The Trevor Project is a 100% scored charity by Charity Navigator and everyone from the CEO down is required to learn the helpline so everyone is able to help there.

Outright International is an international organization aimed at protecting human rights among those internationally who have their human rights violated. As an international advocacy group Outright International provides resources to other groups and works with government agencies to make sure that those voices of the LGBTQ+ in the community are heard. Outright International has a 99% score from Charity Navigator and does accept donations from overseas.

The drive itself will begin Monday, July 22nd, and will wrap up Monday, August 5th. We will use the time between now and the 22nd to do setup and preparation.

WHAT CAN I DO?

Well, just like previous drives, it will consist mostly of auctions and perks that the community puts up. Below will be exmaples of previous drives sheets, the hub of a charity drive, to show what type of things people auction off or put up for offer. If you have something you want to put up, just DM myself (darknessrising) on discord and I will add it to the sheet. When it comes time for the drive to start on the 22nd, follow the auctions and purchase perks during the two weeks, and make sure to be ready to donate. I will then follow up with all to ensure they have donated, and keep the sheet up to date to see the tally coming in. There will also be milestone goals as we hit certain amounts as a league.

Overall, spreading the word, coming up with ideas and staying on top of any announcements or posts in the soon-to-be-made S49 charity section of the forum will be your best course of action. Can always DM myself, HO or your GM/people around the league to ask questions, as anyone who has seen a charity drive will know how this all works.
