*ISFL Chronicles: Episode 1 - McGriddy10 - 09-03-2024

Hello and welcome to Episode 1 of the ISFL Chronicles, I’m your host McGriddy and my co-host is a member of the S43 ISFL Draft Class. Please give it up for San Jose’s Robotic Safety, Mega Tron, who faced his first bout of regression this past offseason. Let’s get into it!

In honor of the ISFL Draft being this past Friday, I am doing a draft special in which we recount the S43 ISFL Draft with one of its brightest prospects who also happens to be my co-host.

MG: So, Mega Tron, how did you feel entering the S43 Draft and what teams did you hope drafted you knowing that only one or maybe none of them would draft you?
MT: Well, I was kinda cautiously optimistic about the draft because I missed the first 3 games due to being picked up on waivers by the London Royals whose QB is one of my best friends in the ISFL. I wanted to go to the San Jose Sabercats, the Berlin Fire Salamanders, and the Cape Town Crash, but wasn’t sure what round I would be picked up in.
MG: How did scouting go and did this give you a better idea of what team you’d be drafted by?
MT: Scouting was a blast as I was able to connect with several GMs and I enjoyed the depth of conversations that we had. The one I loved the most was Dewalt27 as he didn’t have an attitude and connected with me on a personal level and knew that whatever team drafted me would have an absolute stud. Scouting really didn’t help me hone in on a team that was going to draft me because it’s just for GMs and War Rooms to see if a prospect is a good fit for their team. However, I wasn’t scouted by the Sabercats until the day of the draft so this was very concerning to me.
MG: What was your draft day experience like and did you get concerned with not going in the first two rounds?
MT: My draft day experience was pretty normal other than the fact that I hung out with several first round draft picks. I wasn’t bothered by not going in the first 2 rounds because I knew that I had low TPE and I was playing in a position that was very saturated at the ISFL level. I was informed by several teams that I would have to switch positions, the wildest being from WR to DE or OL. I was not opposed to it because I am and will always be a team player, but OL is a statless position that means so damn much to their teams.
MG: What team ended up drafting you and do you like your team now that you have been there for a full career with this round of regression?
MT: So the San Jose Sabercats ended up drafting me in the 3rd round and I was overjoyed because I was going to play for a GM that I had wanted to play for since their QB who happens to be my best friend told me that he had put in a good note with the GM. I’ve loved my team since being drafted because RussDrivesTheBus and CKroyal92 are awesome GMs and I was sad when CK stepped down, but Urq660 has carried the torch very well and this team can win an Ultimus in the near future. I do not think I will be here for the Ultimus because I have 3 seasons left in the tank before I retire.
MG: Thank you for your time Mega Tron and thank you for reading this transcript of my interview with the San Jose Sabercats’ Safety.

Stay tuned for part 2 which will be an S43 ISFL Draft rerun with expert advice by yours truly.
