*What Adam did during the offseason - WildfireMicro - 10-22-2024

It is once again the offseason, and the Sarasota Sailfish have unfortunately lost in the conference championship. We came pretty close to breaking through to the Ultimus this season (congratulations for finally winning one by the way @Baron1898), but just couldn't get to it and lost to the eventual champions in the Baltimore Hawks. So for Adam, it is now a time to try to recover and relax, and that leads me to a good question: what does Adam Journey like to do during the offseason? Well, as his name suggests, he does like going on journeys, so oftentimes he travels, whether it's back to his hometown in Kentucky or on vacation somewhere.

Usually he would go with his wife Andrea Journey, but unfortunately the two of them have agreed on a amicable divorce. Andrea couldn't handle having a husband that was always on the move, and Adam didn't really like being married to someone who didn't really appreciate going places. Thier divorce was surprisingly as relaxed as divorces could be, as they had long since realized it was not going to work. Adam actually kept the whole thing quiet until he dropped what happened to his teammates in the locker room after the conference championship. He just didn't want to bring it up before and cause a distraction.

Now Adam is gonna take a break before he starts dating, and he needs a place to reflect on the season, so he decided to head to a campground cabin his cousin owned in the woods of Kentucky with a couple of family members and a friend he met in Sarasota named Jeff Simone. Jeff loved going places, and had never been to the state of Kentucky before, so he was happy to check the campgrounds out. In the woods, Adam took the time to think about what he could improve on in order to succeed in the next season. Perhaps he could work on press defense and coverages more..

Adam had recently discovered that he had a nice voice for country singing, so while Jeff played a guitar, he sang some folk songs to everyone else while they looked at a fire. This actually reminded Adam of something similar his late grandfather did when he took Adam and other kids in the family camping way back when, so Adam made sure to sing a song in his honor. A few days later, Adam took the time to pay a visit to his old high school to participate in a charity event and pep rally. He was actually glad that they did not name the gym after him like they were hinting at, it being named after an old coach makes it feel more traditional to Adam. He wore his a copy of his college jersey and met the football players while he was there, making sure to watch in order to see if there was any notable players amoung them.

While he and Jeff were eating in his old hometown, he found himself chatting up a waitress there. He didn't exactly mean to do it, they just hit it off rather quickly because they both loved football and traveling. Adam managed to get her number and promised to keep in touch.

"Nice to see you on the rebound so quickly big guy" Jeff chuckled, patting Adams back

"I didn't mean to really get that deep in conversation" Adam shrugged "it just happened. We did seem to hit it off though, so that is good. I'm still nervous about dating, and hell we live like a few states apart from each other." He looks at the phone number and name she gave him "Rebecca Pines huh.. she liked to be called Becky though"

"Well at least give it a shot Adam" Jeff suggested "you never know how well it will go unless you try"

"Ehh you're right, I'll call her at some point" Adam smiled slightly before they both went to go to a local flea market. It was surprisingly still open and rather busy all these years later, and Adam did get a few stares as they went along, not that he really minded. He was used to stares back in Sarasota, and was also used to people taking pictures of him to post on their various social medias. He also took a few pictures with fans while he could, including with a little kid and his mom who were wearing Sarasota jerseys. Adam actually found some retro gaming and computer stuff while he was there, and actually bought a Nintendo 64 and some games including Banjo-Kazooie and Ocarina of Time. He was happy that some things in the town doesn't change, and that he can still definitely tell that it is his old town.

But then a couple of days later it was time to go home. After a nice breakfast at a diner a diner a couple of towns over, Adam did one more visit to the main family house to say his goodbyes, and then headed on the road to get back home to Sarasota Florida. However, as they passed by Lexington Kentucky, he took the moment to visit the Kentucky Wildcats football stadium, taking pictures with both it and a few of the students that were there. Jeff wasn't a big Wildcats fan, but he appreciated Adam showing him around the stadium and campus nonetheless. Afterwards, they took their leave, heading back on the road to the Sunshine State.

Well now that the story is over, I have some things to say, mostly to get to the 1000 word limit to get 2.5 media. First of all, sincere congratulations to the Baltimore Hawks on winning the Ultimus! It does feel appropriate that a franchise that has been here since the beginning of the league won the S50 Ultimus. Also thank you to @abh89 and @Fronk for making this season of Sarasota football memorable. This next season should be a good one as well. Also congrats to @Akoustique for getting DSFL Commissioner, even if it does make you quite stinky. And a big thank you to all of the ISFL for the Charity stuff, not just for donating and helping good causes but also for getting us the beeg 2.5 media! I really need ISFL cash so...

Well I rambled on long enough, so thank you for reading and I hope to see you all on the field!
