S4 Media Changes - 124715 - 11-15-2017
Hello all,
We're a little into S4, and we have some new changes to make to media grading.
1. Media Payout may not be split among users unless the original author of the piece of media can pinpoint the user's contributions. Said contributions must be substantial enough to warrant that share of the payout. Whether a split is appropriate is at the grader's discretion.
Basically, I can't write one paragraph for a long article and get paid 90%. That's not fair.
Please Note: The details are still being ironed out, for example, how to know when somebody actually split pay.
2. No PTs may be submitted as articles.
Pretty self-explanatory. Also, very easy to check. Also, is illegal in the rulebook.
3. Any plagiarized media will not be paid out.
It is very easy to check against plagiarism, and it is not hard to tell what is and what isn't. Don't do it.
4. New statistical analysis payout scale:
Quote:Statistical Analysis articles will be graded on two criteria: the analysis itself (i.e., taking piles of numbers and making sense out of it), and the discussion of the stats (i.e., applying your analysis to the league and making it easier to understand. It could be comparing different teams, players, positions, etc. based on your data.)
The analysis will be graded on effort and the coolness and relevance of the stat. Don't overthink this - it's just how good the stats are.

- 4 - $2,000,000
- 3 - $1,400,000
- 2 - $1,100,000
- 1 - $600,000
- 0 - $100,000
A grade of 0 will only be prescribed if the author has made no attempt to crunch the numbers in an interesting or meaningful way. Most articles will be 3s or 4s, but several people are easily capable of creating 5s.
The discussion will be graded on effort and how successful the author is at applying the stats, making comparisons, and bringing the numbers down to the level of the reader. Don't overthink this either - it's how well you use the data.

- 3 - $650,000
- 2 - $400,000
- 1 - $250,000
- 0 - $0
A grade of 0 will only be prescribed if the author has not discussed the data at all, for example, posting just a spreadsheet. Most articles fall in the 3-4 range as well.
The total pay will be calculated by summing the discussion and analysis grades. Additional bonuses will be added at the grader's discretion.

Could we add a fine for plagiarized media? Let's say I copy a 1000 word post. If it doesn't get noticed, I earn 1.6 million. If I get caught, I lose nothing. No reason to not try it.

I'm ok with this for Veterans and repeat offenders. But not in the case of a rookie making a mistake.

Don't send him any more chipotle funds. He had to drop like 100 pounds to get down to LB weight and we would like to keep him that way.
