*Cornerbacks : An Ongoing Analysis (4/14) - White Cornerback - 11-25-2017

[div align=\\\"center\\\"]Welcome to the 4th chapter of our cornerbacks analysis series. We move onto week 4 which resulted in some shock performances from cornerbacks.

WEEK 4 (11/10)

PHI @ ARI
COL @ LVL
BAL @ SJS
OCO @ YKW

Tyler Oles established himself as the best cornerback so far this season, topping the rankings. How will he fair when matched up against C.A Chess this week? Kevin Cushing has had a decent season thus far but will things go south when he lines up opposite Dustin Evans?
Franklin Harris Jr. has found himself glued to the bottom of the cornerback rankings this season with a mere 6 yards separating him from last place, can he get it together when facing high quality opposition such as Fox North? Zhang who has established himself to be a top 5 cornerback so far this season will end up shadowing the less effective but still a threat wide receiver Budda Browning.

Alex Hayden and Brice Boggs will attempt to stop the WR combo of Jon Ross and Alexandre LeClair this week when facing the Legion who are at home. Will they come out on top? Will Hayden bounce back and show last weeks sub par performance was only a flash in the pan? On the opposite side of the ball Carter and Shoate should have a comfortable time guarding against the pass this week against the Yeti. After all they've only got a CB turned WR as their main target to watch.

Darnell Turner and Antoine Delacour have had polarizing seasons so far this year. Turner finds himself sat in 2nd place while Delacour has leaked yards and as a result stews in 11th. How will both of these fare when facing the duo of Shane Weston and Mayran Jackson? On the flip side of this, John Canton has had a horrendous season in terms of yards allowed this year, he sits in last place with 367 yards allowed over 3 games, Benson Bayley is in 10th with 222 yards allowed. It's clear San Jose's cornerbacks are under performing this season and I can't foresee an improvement this week when they face up against Trey Willie and Stormblessed who are a threat to handle, even on an off day.

Our final game of the day sees the struggling cornerback duo of Verns and Spector (who sit in 13th and 14th place in the rankings) attempt to stop the receiving threat of Bailey Cook and Gosh Jarden. Can they move up the rankings this week or at they doomed for mediocrity? For the Wraiths, Lavelle has been a top 3 cornerback this year in terms of yards allowed, Floggity has fluctuated in the lower half of the table for some time but had a standout week 3 in which he allowed 0 catches all game. Can he hope to hit that form when facing Robert Phelps? Can Lavelle tame the threat that is Bradley Westfield?

NSFL WEEK 4 YARDS ALLOWED

Just when you think Jogn Floggity couldn't possibly have a performance like last week, he goes out and matches it. An amazing 0 catches allowed, but this week there was more to that stat line.

Benson Bayley had an impressive game and only allowed 14 yards and 2 catches.

Hayden continues his fine form for the winless Yeti , 16 yards and only 2 catches allowed in week 4.

Shoate returns to fine form this week, he only allowed 28 yards and 3 catches for the Legion.

Boggs has a great game and only allows 40 yards all game, 2 catches and 1 touchdown.

Delacour's form improves slowly but surely, he allowed 52 yards, 4 catches and 1 touchdown this week.

Zhang has a rough enough week but still stays clean in the endzone, 61 yards and 5 catches allowed.

Canton begins to cut down on the yards allowed, hopefully a turn of the tide. While not a great game, it shows obvious improvement with 69 yards allowed and 4 catches.

Carter still isn't quite showing the quality that he's supposedly worth, regardless he's played better this week than usual with 74 yards from 5 catches.

Turner's slow descent down the cornerback rankings begins this week with 80 yards and 4 catches allowed.

Franklin Harris Jr. continues his poor form, a consistent theme so far this season. He allowed 83 yards and 7 catches this week.

Verns and the Otters cornerbacks continue to struggle, 91 yards allowed , 5 catches and 2 touchdowns marks a bad day at the office for Dominic Verns.

Spector likewise has a poor day, 93 yards from 6 catches. That's nearly 200 yards allowed from the Otters cornerbacks combined.

Oles has easily his worst week so far this season with 120 yards allowed, 6 catches and 1 touchdown let up this week.

Cushing has a bad week for the Liberty, then again he was faced up against THE Josh Garden. He allowed 124 yards and 6 catches this week, but not the worst performance this week.

Lavelle has an utter meltdown, he lets up the most yards of any player this season has given up in a single week. 186 yards, 10 catches and a record 4 touchdowns allowed. A horrendus performance that means he will plummet down the rankings as a result. To put this in perspective, he's allowed more yards in one week than Yeti #2 CB Alex Hayden has in 4 weeks.

NSFL CORNERBACK RANKINGS

Now we move onto the rankings. Hayden reclaims his top spot at #1 after rising up 3 places. He's only allowed an impressive 170 yards and 14 catches so far this season while giving up 0 touchdowns.

Turner keeps his lock on 2nd place, but for how much longer? He's let up 213 yards, 16 catches and 2 touchdowns and we could easily see him drop down the rankings soon.

Boggs rises up three places this week, he sits in 3rd place currently with 231 yards, 20 catches and 4 touchdowns allowed.

Floggity rises an impressive 8 places after two back to back shutout weeks. He's got a total of 235 yards, 12 catches and 1 touchdown this season allowed.

#5 is Timote Shoate of the Legion who rose 3 places this week. He's let up 236 yards, 18 catches and a worrying 4 touchdowns.

#6 is Benson Bayley who bounced back with an impressive week. His stats are 236 yards allowed, 12 catches and 1 touchdown for week 4's totals.

#7 is the Outlaws cornerback, Samuel Zhang. He's dropped 2 places since last week and has let up 243 yards from 15 catches. Not a single touchdown has been scored on him so far.

#8 is one of the biggest fallers this week, Tyler Oles. He dropped all the way from #1. He has allowed so far this season , 244 yards, 17 catches and 4 touchdowns.

#9 is moneybags Phillipe Carter who dropped 2 spots since this time last week. He has had 276 yards and 21 catches on him so far this season.

#10 is Antoine Delacour who rose 1 place from last week. 284 yards, 22 catches and 1 touchdown are his stats this season.

#11 is Dermot Lavelle who suffered an absolute nightmare this week against Bradley Westfield. Not only did he give up the most yards ever in this series, but he's also dropped the most places ever in a single week. 8 places, he's let up 339 yards (186 from this week alone), 23 catches and the leagues most 5 touchdowns.

#12 is so called lockdown cornerback Kevin Cushing. He falls 3 spots to #12 with 344 yards, 19 catches and 1 touchdown allowed so far in this campaign.

#13 is struggling Dominic Verns who falls 3 spots. 349 yards, 20 catches and 4 touchdowns allowed emphasizes the poor season he's had.

#14 is the other half of the otters cornerback duo, Marc Spector. A second consecutive week at #14, Spector and the otters corners as a whole are under performing. A leaky 380 yards and 21 catches are his stats.

#15 is John Canton who for the first week this season allowed less than 100 yards in a game! All fanfare aside, with the big drops from other cornerbacks, Canton's gap has severely shortened. We expect him to slowly rise up the rankings if he can keep up this weeks form. 436 yards, 23 catches and 1 touchdown, but hopefully room to improve.

Finally Franklin Harris Jr has finally gotten to the bottom spot of the rankings. While this week was his best week (83 yards, 7 catches), it's been a trial by fire for this young player. A total of 64 yards alone separates him from #14 and every week the gap gets bigger, it's going to take a miracle for him not to finish as the leagues worst cornerback.

This concludes the 4th part of this series. Expect part 5 to out soon!

Dang Lavelle got torched...

It’s interesting how the two “high powered passing” offenses of the Otters and Outlaws seemed to attack corners differently

Otters just kept pouring it on Lavelle while Floggity allowed 0 catches, but the Outlaws attacked both Cushing and Oles, putting up 120 on each

Good stuff, love this series

I've played 2 games against Garden, 1 against Phelps/Westfield, and 1 against LeClair and have given up ONE touchdown.

That said, yeah, not a great year.
