Another season is in the books. After their 5th playoff berth and 2nd Ultimus Championship Orange County is looking towards the future and an opportunity to add even more talent to their roster. This is in hopes for another push at the championship in what will likely be the most competitive season we have ever seen since the inception of the league.

To that end the Otters are a team that is complete in many areas of the roster with not too many holes to fill. However, they are a team that has proven they are willing to do strange things in order to maximize the effect of their best players. This has done in the past with Dominic Verns who pioneered the use of a safety at linebacker in the NSFL and to this day still holds the record for the most tackles in a single game. It was used to good effect with Jordan Yates who like Eric Kennedy on the Wraiths did extremely well this season spending a lot of time at wide receiver while setting the league record for most touchdowns in a season in his first season with Orange County.

So as we try to plug in some newer and hopefully younger players in either free agency or the draft here are a few things people with orange on the brain should know.

1) Loyalty: The Otters have never traded an active player away. The Otters have never had a player walk away from us in free agency. We are loyal to our players and they are loyal to the team. We prefer to build through the draft whenever possible and retain our draftees as long as they're willing to stay and work.

2) Locker room: We're mostly quiet older guys. Several have kids. Several are married. We usually talk about beer, sports, food, or the NSFL. We've even mailed each other local beers in the OCO beer exchange. Jiggly posts gifs and music videos. Some of the guys have that pokemon channel thing going on, IDK that's not my jam. TL;DR we're laid back and fun and if you like beer we're definitely the team for you.

3) Playing time: If you're on defense, we can find you a spot. We'll have to shuffle some guys around but we can make it happen. Linebacker? Done. Defensive back? Done. Defensive lineman? Yes please! If you're on offense the first season is going to be a little weird if you're a wide receiver. We can definitely get a RB or a TE involved, but some WRs are going to have to play at many different positions because we have this old dudes catching the ball still. You'll be on the field and have a chance to make plays.

4) Championships: We know how to win games. We know how to build winning teams. I can't guarantee we'll get you a ring next season, there's a ton of great competition. But we'll give you one hell of a shot.

5) Money: We don't have a lot this season. So if you're a free agent looking to join the Otters, you'll have to do it on the cheap. We're sorry. But if you are interested feel free to talk to us anyway, we'll arrange whatever we can to get the right people for our team. If you're a rookie we can pay you a competitive rookie salary as we saved for that.

So for all those who are waiting to hear their name called on draft day, or are looking for a change of scenery, we are excited to have an opportunity to add more talented players to our championship roster so we can continue to play good football and have fun. Thank you for your time in reading this and good luck in season six!

It was also kind of established from the beginning that only one of the three QBs would win the battle and the other two would leave. We found Hunt a starting job and Berc had negotiated a NTC and only a one year contract so he could walk in S2 if he didn't get the job in OC.

We made the right choice too!
