NSFL Draft Preview - Noble - 06-01-2017

Code:
Word Count - 3,067

The NSFL draft is on it's way, and with only a few hours before the big event, GM's and players are looking for any way to get themselves on top. Today we'll be doing a brief coverage of the top players at every position, including some dark horse picks and rookie mentions (seeing as the majority of the top players listed will be people not new to the sim community. Without further ado, so begins the list.

Ethan Hunt - QB @daBenchwarmer

Name: Hunt, Ethan
College: Idaho State
Handedness: Right
Jersey Number: 55
Height (ft.): 6'0"
Weight (lbs.): 215 lbs
Birthplace: Thunder Bay, Canada
Player Archetype: Mobile Quarterback

Benchwarmer has consistently proven themselves as a quality member of the sim community, and his presence in the NSFL is showing this isn't likely to change. Already taking on a role as a Rookie Mentor, Benchwarmer is doing their part to make this new league as warm and welcoming for the massive wave of first generation players as possible. So far he's taken an active role in Rookie Locker Room discussion, teaching new players the tricks of the trade and keeping them interested as while as showing them opportunities to progress. In terms of reputation around sim communities and reliability of a player, Benchwarmer is a very safe pick at QB because of the success and progression of other players in the past.

(MAX: 60) Strength: 35
(MAX: 90) Agility: 55
(MAX: 90) Arm: 70
(MAX: 90) Intelligence: 60
(MAX: 90) Throwing Accuracy: 70
(MAX: 35) Tackling: 15
(MAX: 90) Speed: 67 1/2
(MAX: 35) Hands: 15
(MAX: 25) Pass Blocking: 1
(MAX: 25) Run Blocking: 1
(MAX: 100) Endurance: 40
(MAX: 25) Kick Power: 1
(MAX: 25) Kick Accuracy: 1

Hunt plays a very mobile style of play with the ball, darting around the field and making short passes for quick gains. His speed and accuracy are his two biggest qualities, giving him tons of time to do what he wants with the ball. His intelligence allows him to open up the field and stay away from defenders while still leaving him in a strong position to make the passes he needs to in order to make it down the field. Don't think that just because he focuses on movement he can't throw though, because with an already well developed arm, Hunt can move the ball down the field just as well as any other player can. His bullet passes cut through defenders for huge gains, and will be another one of his many assets that contributes to him being a top contender in this draft class.

Reg Mackworthy - RB @Esa77

Name: Mackworthy, Reg
College: Oregon State University
Handedness: Right
Jersey Number: 30
Height (ft.): 5'8"
Weight (lbs.): 225lbs
Birthplace: Compton, California
Player Archetype: Speed Back

Esa is known around many sim sites, but one of his biggest accomplishments is leading the Calgary Dragons of the SHL to multiple titles in the last few seasons. His reputation as a quality sim community member and general manager are something that really sets him apart from the competition. As well, his players haven't exactly been busts, with Esa Anrikkanen (butchering this name probably jesus christ) being one of the premier players in the SHL for years and a top fantasy player. Any team that gains an asset like Esa is getting a solid player, locker room legend, and a friendly face who will be there to mentor the newer recruits.

(MAX: 75) Strength: 50
(MAX: 90) Agility: 55
(MAX: 25) Arm:15
(MAX: 75) Intelligence: 30
(MAX: 25) Throwing Accuracy: 15
(MAX: 50) Tackling: 20
(MAX: 100) Speed: 80
(MAX: 75) Hands: 40
(MAX: 40) Pass Blocking: 20
(MAX: 40) Run Blocking: 20
(MAX: 100) Endurance: 65
(MAX: 25) Kick Power: 1
(MAX: 25) Kick Accuracy: 1

With a build mostly focused on speed, Mackworthy will be looking to penetrate the defensive line for few, but far runs. His endurance will be something of an issue, but with careful work he can be brought up to the league wide standard of skill in that department. An attribute that won't be seeing a lot of time yet, but should get some in the future is his agility. With careful training already being done, he's looking at being one of the best mobile backs there is in the game.

Josh Garden - WR @Ballerstorm

Name: Garden, Josh
College: Baylor
Handedness: Right
Jersey Number: 12
Height (ft.): 6'3"
Weight (lbs.): 225lbs
Birthplace: Houston, Texas
Player Archetype: Speed Receiver

Ballerstorm is a dead lock to go in the top three picks. As the founder of the league and it's current commissioner, there is no doubt that Baller looks to do everything he can in order to lead his team to victory. Known around almost every sim league there is, Baller's presence in the SHL previously as a general manager and now as a commissioner shows he has the experience and dedication needed to create a truly great player and league. So far, his activity has been top notch, with no real down time in posting or participation. This can be expected to continue far into the future.

(MAX: 65) Strength: 25
(MAX: 95) Agility: 70
(MAX: 25) Arm: 1
(MAX: 85) Intelligence: 40
(MAX: 25) Throwing Accuracy: 1
(MAX: 35) Tackling: 20
(MAX: 100) Speed: 76
(MAX: 90) Hands: 60
(MAX: 35) Pass Blocking: 10
(MAX: 35) Run Blocking: 10
(MAX: 100) Endurance: 60
(MAX: 25) Kick Power: 1
(MAX: 25) Kick Accuracy: 1

Garden is one of the most well rounded players the game has seen. Similar to the running style of Mackworthy, Garden has a large focus on the speed he'll be using to break blockers and sprint down for long gains. Specializing in short catches with long runs, Garden has already put work into his endurance and agility, spending countless hours working the gym as well as running T-Tests. His dedication as a player is something unrivaled by any other member of the community, and he should continue to grow into his role as a dominant offensive player.

Gabriel Tenzini - TE @princekyle

Name: Tenzini, Gabriel
College: Minnesota
Handedness: Right
Jersey Number: 71
Height (ft.): 6'3"
Weight (lbs.): 242lbs
Birthplace: Eden Prairie, Minnesota
Player Archetype: Possession Tight End

As the league's simmer, we can hope that PK will be staying active for seasons to come. There is always the chance you lose someone for some reason, but PK's dedication to sim communities is obvious, and it would seem the NSFL is just the next piece of popcorn in the bowl for him. Working hard to get the community up and running, it takes a lot of dedication and commitment to take on a role as big as simulator for any league, but especially a new creation. Gaining a valuable asset like this will be a win in any GM's books.

(MAX: 80) Strength: 40
(MAX: 80) Agility: 45
(MAX: 25) Arm: 1
(MAX: 80) Intelligence: 60
(MAX: 25) Throwing Accuracy: 1
(MAX: 50) Tackling: 25
(MAX: 75) Speed: 60
(MAX: 90) Hands: 70
(MAX: 60) Pass Blocking: 30
(MAX: 60) Run Blocking: 30
(MAX: 100) Endurance: 65
(MAX: 25) Kick Power: 1
(MAX: 25) Kick Accuracy: 1

Tenzini can be expected to a hybrid tight end role, with short passes and long passes built into his repertoire. As a possession tight end, his main focus will be to catch and hold the ball for short gains, but his speed does give him the tools to either beat past defenders into the open field or dash past them for first downs and the likes. His intelligence is something that really sets him apart from the rest because it opens up a whole field of options, rather than narrowing his vision on one play in particular. This allows him to find the open spots and exploit them as such.

Ben Longshaw - OL @`BenLongshaw`

Name: Longshaw, Ben
College: Northern Illinois
Handedness: Right
Jersey Number: 74
Height (ft.): 6'5"
Weight (lbs.): 310lbs
Birthplace: Chicago, Illinois
Player Archetype: Pass Blocker

Longshaw is a new comer to the sim community, but has come leaps and bounds since the start of his time as a part of it. His knowledge of the way the site works and his networking skills are setting him above many other first generation prospects, and he's already working his way up in post counts and reputation. Should he continue on the path he's set for himself, he will be a high quality member in no time, and one any general manager should feel blessed to own.

(MAX: 95) - Strength: 67
(MAX: 75) - Agility: 45
(MAX: 25) - Arm: 1
(MAX: 85) - Intelligence: 60
(MAX: 25) - Throwing Accuracy: 1
(MAX: 60) - Tackling: 35
(MAX: 65) - Speed: 45
(MAX: 50) - Hands: 20
(MAX: 100) - Pass Blocking: 70
(MAX: 90) - Run Blocking: 63
(MAX: 100) - Endurance: 60
(MAX: 25) - Kick Power: 1
(MAX: 25) - Kick Accuracy: 1

As far as builds go, Longshaw is one of the most well rounded prospects. With an emphasis on pass blocking and his strength, he'll be able to tear down defenders and rush the quarterback time and time again to stop the long bomb passes that QB's are bound to throw in these early seasons. With natural born football senses, Longshaw knows how to follow a play and adjust accordingly, one of his most valuable skills. The continued development of these on and off field senses will allow him to grow into one of the top talents the league has to offer.

Jayce Tuck - DE @ErMurazor

Name: Tuck, Jayce
College: Cal Tech
Handedness: Right
Jersey Number: 91
Height (ft.): 6'5"
Weight (lbs.): 288 lbs
Birthplace: Washington, D.C
Player Archetype: Power Rusher

EM has quickly made a name for himself. He may be known by a different name then he goes by on this league, but his reputation has sky rocketed, making him into a top ranking prospect. His role as a player progression manager will be something that sets him apart from the competition because it shows dedication and financial stability. If EM continues to bolster his reputation, he could eventually become one of the better known sim community players.

(MAX: 90) Strength: 71
(MAX: 75) Agility: 50
(MAX: 25) Arm: 1
(MAX: 70) Intelligence: 40
(MAX: 25) Throwing Accuracy: 1
(MAX: 80) Tackling: 62
(MAX: 80) Speed: 68
(MAX: 55) Hands: 30
(MAX: 25) Pass Blocking: 1
(MAX: 25) Run Blocking: 1
(MAX: 100) Endurance: 60
(MAX: 25) Kick Power: 1
(MAX: 25) Kick Accuracy: 1

To put his build in short, Tuck is all about powering through and destroying the quarterback or running back. His massive strength allows him to explode into opponents, knocking them off balance and sending them falling back, allowing him to make the moves he needs. He's not just about power though, and can dart into open holes in the offensive line for sacks and tackles. His defensive awareness is something that needs work, as he often leaves a man unprotected for short gains.

J.J Reigns - DT @Shaka

Name: Reigns, J.J
College: Wisconsin
Handedness: Right
Jersey Number: 99
Height (ft.): 6'5"
Weight (lbs.): 315lbs
Birthplace: Washington, D.C
Player Archetype: Interior Rusher

Shaka has been, and will continue to be, a legendary member of the sim community. Leading multiple teams to championships and titles as a general manager alongside player, his wholesome commitment to leagues in general is what makes him such an interesting prospect to talk about. While he may not be the most talkative member, he is certainly well known and has relations with multiple GMs. Watch for him to go high in this draft before establishing himself once again as a valuable asset.

(MAX: 90) Strength: 65
(MAX: 75) Agility: 50
(MAX: 25) Arm: 1
(MAX: 70) Intelligence: 40
(MAX: 25) Throwing Accuracy: 1
(MAX: 70) Tackling: 40
(MAX: 80) Speed: 65
(MAX: 60) Hands: 30
(MAX: 25) Pass Blocking: 1
(MAX: 25) Run Blocking: 1
(MAX: 100) Endurance: 60
(MAX: 25) Kick Power: 1
(MAX: 25) Kick Accuracy: 1

Reigns is already well on his way to being a dominant player, but just isn't quite there yet. While some of the players listed so far really have the goods, Reigns is more of an "in development" type of guy. While he may not be the most talented as of now, he certainly has the drive needed to get there. His strength and speed are what make him such a strong interior rusher as he darts pass offensive lineman and pounces the quarterback. Should he learn the game better, he will be an invaluable piece to any team.

Ian Bavitz - LB @Molarpistols

Name: Bavitz, Ian
College: Boston University
Handedness: Right
Jersey Number: 52
Height (ft.): 6'4"
Weight (lbs.): 230lbs
Birthplace: Syosset, New York
Player Archetype: Balanced Lineman

As far as I know, MP is a rookie to sim leagues, but he acts the way a veteran does. His continuous dedication to the league as whole is what makes him such a valuable pick and sets him apart from other linebackers like Alexander Selich or Jonathan Saint. At one of the deepest positions, MP will have to fight hard to have his reputation shine above the rest, but come tonight should be the highest linebacker picked.

(MAX: 85) Strength: 66
(MAX: 85) Agility: 55
(MAX: 25) Arm: 1
(MAX: 85) Intelligence: 50
(MAX: 25) Throwing Accuracy: 1
(MAX: 95) Tackling: 75
(MAX: 85) Speed: 66
(MAX: 55) Hands: 31
(MAX: 25) Pass Blocking: 1
(MAX: 25) Run Blocking: 1
(MAX: 100) Endurance: 65
(MAX: 25) Kick Power: 1
(MAX: 25) Kick Accuracy: 1

Bavitz is the most dominant player this league has seen in a long time. It's not often you hear of a linebacker being put this way, but with his overall massive style of play, Bavitz is already at all-star level. His ability to tackle any defender and his core strength will be his most valuable asset as he throws defenders around all night long. Alongside, his ability to perform for long periods of time will be invaluable and will make him that much more of a high priority target.

Philippe Carter - CB @enigmatic

Name: Carter, Philippe
College: Colorado State
Handedness: Left
Jersey Number: 21
Height (ft.): 6'2"
Weight (lbs.): 200
Birthplace: New Orleans, Louisiana
Player Archetype: Zone Backer

Eni is an absolute legend in sim communities. Although she keeps a relatively low profile, she is known as one of the most valuable pieces on any team. As well, her role as a global moderator should keep her interest levels in the league high (although those of us who know Eni know she wouldn't quite anyways). Taking on a corner back should be a challenge for her, and the excitement to see how she does is running high.

(MAX: 65) Strength: 30
(MAX: 95) Agility: 65
(MAX: 25) Arm: 1
(MAX: 90) Intelligence: 65
(MAX: 25) Throwing Accuracy: 1
(MAX: 70) Tackling: 30
(MAX: 90) Speed: 60
(MAX: 85) Hands: 65
(MAX: 25) Pass Blocking: 1
(MAX: 25) Run Blocking: 1
(MAX: 100) Endurance: 45
(MAX: 25) Kick Power: 1
(MAX: 25) Kick Accuracy: 1

Briefly said, Carter is a pure defensive monster. (I don't fucking know if Philippe is a girl or guy yet so imma go with guy and I'll deal with the shit storm later). His ability to follow defenders around the zone and stay tight at all time is what makes him so dominant. Made up of almost pure muscles, Carter can be expected to drag opponents down to the ground, should she not be the one catching the ball.

Ryan Flock - S @theFlock

Name: Flock, Ryan
College: Navy
Handedness: Right
Jersey Number: 20
Height (ft.): 6'2"
Weight (lbs.): 205lbs
Birthplace: Baltimore, MD
Player Archetype: All-Around Safety

Another new comer to the sim league community, Flock is quickly making a name for himself. Already having posted three articles, made a graphic, and with almost seventy posts, this is a man well on his way to becoming a sim league star. Focusing on positive interactions, Flock is making friends and building bridges that will become valuable should he ever wish to take on a bigger part in this league.

(MAX: 75) Strength: 47
(MAX: 95) Agility: 65
(MAX: 25) Arm: 1
(MAX: 75) Intelligence: 60
(MAX: 25) Throwing Accuracy: 1
(MAX: 80) Tackling: 55
(MAX: 90) Speed: 70
(MAX: 75) Hands: 52
(MAX: 25) Pass Blocking: 1
(MAX: 25) Run Blocking: 1
(MAX: 100) Endurance: 70
(MAX: 25) Kick Power: 1
(MAX: 25) Kick Accuracy: 1

Speed is the name of the game for Ryan Flock. It's almost like he ignores the other aspect of his game, but why wouldn't he when he's catching balls constantly and then sprinting down the field for defensive touchdowns? Alongside his incredible skills with the ball, Flock has the endurance needed to really make it at safety, something that often gets overlooked by general managers and opponent players.

Brandon Walsh - K/P @Copenhagen

Name: Walsh, Brandon
College: Alabama
Handedness: Right
Jersey Number: 3
Height (ft.): 6'4"
Weight (lbs.): 215lbs
Birthplace: Tuscaloosa, Alabama, USA
Player Archetype: Balanced Kicker

Cope is easily the most well known member of this league. As a commissioner in the GOMHL he made huge waves, and while GMing in the SHL he made huge moves. His continuous commitment to simulation is what makes every GM want to have him on their team, not just as a player but as a precious locker room addition. There's not much more to say about this absolute stud.

(MAX: 45) Strength: 20
(MAX: 60) Agility: 35
(MAX: 45) Arm: 20
(MAX: 85) Intelligence: 65
(MAX: 25) Throwing Accuracy: 1
(MAX: 40) Tackling: 15
(MAX: 65) Speed: 40
(MAX: 40) Hands: 15
(MAX: 25) Pass Blocking: 1
(MAX: 25) Run Blocking: 1
(MAX: 100) Endurance: 65
(MAX: 95) Kick Power: 70
(MAX: 95) Kick Accuracy: 72

Kick the ball, long and straight. I don't know what more to say about kickers and punters then they are good at hitting the ball in a straight line or slightly curved. Woop woop I'm done jesus christ.

NSFL Draft Preview - timeconsumer - 06-01-2017

Cool writeup, but I don't think Longshaw is going to be rushing the passer. You might have slipped in part of a DE's writeup accidentally.

My player is indeed a dude.

I'm super excited for the draft tonight, and it's great to see first time players be so invested in the league this early Smile

With the number of active prospects it'll be hard to know because I know for myself I'll be messaging GM's and players right up until the last pick trying to make a draft plan. Should be anywhere from 3-4 hours likely.
