As a good ole' southern boy, Dick Cheese had three main loves; Sweet Tea, Cheese, and Football. From a young age, he played all sports, in any environment possible. He would join a church league flag football, Play basketball at the Rec, Play soccer at the YMCA, but most of all play Pop Warner Football. Originally, Dick was a smaller kid, but had speed and some power, so he played Running Back in Pop Warner. He loved hitting people, but it wasn't until his Junior year of High School that he started to play Linebacker. Once he started, no one could stop him from getting to the backfield. Opposing teams would use an extra Offensive Lineman as a blocking full back just to give their Quarterback more time in the pocket. However, Dick played in only a 2A school, so none of the major Florida schools had an eye on him. Cheese had a 3.78 GPA in High School, and went on a football scholarship to Florida Agricultural and Mechanical University, also known as FAMU. He was red shirted his Freshman year, and came back with a bang. After Five MEAC Defensive Player of The Week's, he was awarded MEAC Defensive Player of The Year. However, His Redshirt Sophmore and Junior seasons has a lot of question marks and mystery. His stats plummeted, however MEAC games are not televised to a national audience, so scouts thought he stats could've been false from his red shirt Freshman year. However, because of this so called scandal, the MEAC decided to nationally televise the MEAC Game of The Week, which happened to include FAMU eight out of the thirteen weeks of the college season. Cheese proved he was able to produce on the gridiron, and then was offered chance through the DSFL draft.
