So far, the only mock DSFL draft that has been released has cornerback Shannon Hobbs going to the 6-8 Portland Pythons. The Pythons already had the best pass defense in their conference and the second best in the entire league only surrendering 182.3 yards per game. Surprisingly, the number one pass defense in the league were the Palm Beach Solar Bears who coincidentally had a 3-11 record.

We caught up with Hobbs to get his thoughts on the possible Portland destination come the draft.
“Portland would be a fine destination for me. I see they could use some help in the return game and with them already having one of the best passing defenses in the league, we could do some exciting things in Portland. I also know, if I went to Portland, I would never be too far from some resale shops, craft coffee shops, or hipster restaurants, all of which sounds like a pretty good deal to me.”

The Pythons had a bit of a down year after winning it all in Season 7. That year, they finished the regular season at 12-2 before moving on to defeat the Kansas City Coyotes in the semi finals and the Tijuana Luchadores in the Ultimini game. That season they also had the best pass defense in the league, something that seems to be a trend for them.
“I would love to be a part of the legacy they have there. It looks like they consistently have one of the top pass defenses in the league. That is something I can get behind; something that definitely interests me.“

Wherever Hobbs ends up, he’ll be eager to earn a starting role no matter where it comes.
“I played everywhere and anywhere in college so it would be nothing new for me. Return game. Defense. Offense. Bring it on. I’m just excited to get my professional career started and make an impact anyway I can.”

Reports are Hobbs has heard from three of the six DSFL teams and all of them have expressed interest in drafting Hobbs day one of the draft. It will be a whirlwind from now until the draft and where he lands is anybody’s guess.
