When looking at incoming DSFL prospects one of the most intriguing prospects is wide receiver Tanner Hendrix the 2nd. Son of former KC Coyotes CB Tanner Hendrix. Hendrix 2.0 looks to do what his father couldn’t and make in to the NSFL. If you ask Hendrix why he’s the best receiver prospect in this class he’ll tell you it’s because he’s determined to be the best he can be, and he knows that’s one of the best in the league. He’ll tell you he’s prepared to put in more work and time then any other incoming prospect and wants to make his family proud. So where does this kid come from? Well he was born and raised in Kansas City, Kansas and played high school football at a small private school where he had to play both sides of the ball and sometimes even found himself playing QB. Due to the size of the school he garnered very few Division one offers and decided to attend Mizzou just like his Dad, but they recruited him to play QB and he rode the bench his freshmen year. His sophomore year he started 4 games at QB but quickly urged his coach to let him play a few downs in the slot and soon enough he was one of the nations best receivers. The next two years he honed his receiving skills and found a love for playing the position. The biggest challenge he faced at MU came off the field though where his teammates got into drugs and illegal substances and despite the temptations Hendrix stayed on the straight and narrow and dove deeper into his faith. Before games at MU in his senior year you could see Hendrix kneeling saying a prayer and before every drive you could hear the receiver saying the lords player before he took the field. Hendrix looks to God as the reason he is who he is and plans to carry that to the next level. He understands there will be many more challenges ahead but knows through his faith he will continue to succeed at the highest level. If you ask him his goals for his pro career are to win championships and that’s it. He wants to do whatever he can to help his future team or teams win rings. If that means fielding punts he’ll do it. If that means playing in the slot or on the outside he’ll do it. Hendrix just wants to win. Some in college called Hendrix the rockstar due to his last name, Hendrix likes that nickname but doesn’t want to be seen as a type of rockstar who finds himself in a bad situation in life and instead wants to keep that nickname on the field and hopefully stay out of the spotlight when it comes to his personal life. Hendrix 2.0 is ready to stand out and make his impact on the league.
