The last game of the S15 Prospect Bowl regular season is upon us! I wanted to thank everyone for their support, energy, and excitement over these silly animals. I didn’t think we’d get the reaction that we’ve gotten and I’m happy to see it conclude on Saturday as we crown our S15 Prospect Bowl champions!
Unfortunately, there was a bit of a setback yesterday. After week 4 completed and the box score was shown, it had the records for all the teams after week 5 had simmed. It’s not a big secret that I simmed and recorded these all last weekend, but an unfortunate side effect of my non-stop work was a small mistake I made in showing the week 4 boxscore with week 5 records. I’m truly sorry to have spoiled the results and I know that if I was watching as a new player I would not want anything to be spoiled for me.
As a result of my error, I decided to resim week 5 to get fresh results. When life gives you lemons, you make the most of it...so I turned this time into an opportunity to make some new changes for week 5 and the playoffs:
1) Consolation Game: I did not originally have a game for the bottom 2 teams in the Prospect Bowl, but I will now include the Consolation Cup game to give these players another chance to watch themselves play one more time on Saturday.
2) New players: Since Sunday, we’ve had 4 new players approved and I was able to add them to the following rosters as starting players:
Cameron Clutch - K (@TheKicker) will be joining the Central Grizzlies
David Le Kre - CB (@Krelotelli) will be joining the Midwest Wolfpack
AJ Lattimer - DT (@TeyonSchavari) will be joining the East Cobras
Eric Lorentz - LB (@PapaPlatzack) will be joining the Pacific Owls
3) As a result of the new sims, we’ve updated the game schedule for Friday:
Southwest Foxes at Atlantic Blackbirds
Midwest Wolfpack at Pacific Owls
East Cobras at Central Grizzlies
4) Changes were also made to several teams that required some depth chart and strategy changes due to their addition of new players. Some teams had an overall of strategies as well to better suit their players styles. Here’s a summary of each team’s changes:
Southwest Foxes
Coaches felt that Kermit Stronglegs (@TheChroniclesOfFrog) needed to help shoulder the load off Taffy as the team looks forward as the playoff favorites. Their head coach also decided to adjust the ratios a bit to run the ball more after Brock Landers’ epic 4 interception game against the Cobras in week 4.
Atlantic Blackbirds
The QB struggle continues here, but the coaches opted to go into a new direction to best utilize their mobile quarterback in Apollo Lange (@RohnJobert). The team will also be using a mix of the Spread and Balanced playbooks to give both quarterbacks better options for their styles on the field.
Midwest Wolfpack
The team will continue to run a 3-3-5 defense, but with more blitz calls now that they have Le Kre in the nickelback position on defense. Longshaw will also be taking more snaps to help ease the burden for QB1 Tebow. The team will continue to run a heavy pass offense playbook due to their great receiver depth in Mudley, Varga, and Jensen along with Kota at center.
Pacific Owls
After continual harassment of the coaching staff and offensive line, the Owls staff gave into Ryan Leaf Jr.’s (@ValorX77) demands and switched the playbook to a full Spread offense. This should make the mobile QB happy and open up many opportunities for him to have the option to run, pass, or run it himself should he feel nature's call to hoot it into the end zone (we hope he does). Bortboy (@spinarnie) will be taking over running duties as the primary rusher this game and hopes to impress the DSFL scouts against the Midwest Wolfpack at home in week 5.
East Cobras
The addition of Lattimer will be a big help to this 3-4 defense held down by Ricardo Morris (@Roly). Franklin Armstrong had an impressive game against the Southwest Foxes and hopes to continue that strong performance into week 5 and clinch a spot in the playoffs. Coaches decided to add in a bit of variety in the passing attack for the Cobras with some plays out of the West Coast playbook. Maybe this will help Armstrong cut down on the interceptions as they face one of the league’s best pass defenses in week 5.
Central Grizzlies
Simply put, Gimmy Jaroppolo is one of the worst quarterbacks in the Prospect Bowl and has not lived up to expectations. His training has not been consistent which is unfortunate as he has one of the best arms among all quarterbacks in this series. As the campaign for Gump-Jimbo (@ScorpXCracker & @TomHanks) 2020 builds, so does the offense as coaches decided to give their pair of running backs the reins to the offense in a strong, smashmouth, Power playbook. We’ll see how it goes for them in week 5 (can’t be worse than the passing offense now right?). Will Brave Ulysses survive week 5 unscatched as the last offensive lineman in @Beaver’s pool? Survival Pool: The Big Uglies
5) Playoffs: In event of a tie, the team with the best conference record will move on to the playoffs.
Consolation Cup: 5th place team will face the 6th place team
Playoffs:
1st place team vs. 4th place team
2nd place team vs. 3rd place team
Finals: TBD vs TBD
