Lucas, since you're from Mexico, Tijuana Luchadores must be your favorite team to be drafted into, right?
I get asked this question a lot. I'm not going to deny that some of my interest in playing football comes from watching the Luchadores; I would be pretty much excited to be part of them. Nonetheless, I'm open to be drafted by any of the DSFL teams, I just want to play hard and make a great career.
Who do you think gets drafted first from your Blackbirds teammates?
Mmm hard to say; my top 3 would be Rock Hardshaft, Max Vaz and Carlomagno Rey.
How hard was for you making the transition into a DB in college?
Overall, it was hard changing soccer for football. That happened in my senior year at high school. Obviously the struggle was real, but I just kept listening to my coach and training hard. I started my career in football as a wide receiver, but I didn't felt comfortable in the position. In my sophomore year I got a chance to test the cornerback position and I loved it. The following years I just kept watching a lot of tape and working on my technique, that really paid off and I feel ready to be a great corner.
In which round do you think your name gets called?
To be honest, I'm not sure. This draft class is pretty deep, my position has a lot of talent. I'm not to worried about when I go off the board, the only things that matter are hearing my name, as well as, my teammates'.
Quote:I was a soccer to football kid too. What position did you play? I was a center back, so learning to read opponent player movement and ball movement at the same time was really help me transition to playing safety.Goalkeeper, I wanted to be as good as my father was. In the end, my love for football was so strong that I couldn't see myself playing any other sport, and here I am. Of course I have good hands thanks to my soccer experience.
Quote:I thought all of us Blackbirds really got along together, that was a solid locker room atmosphere we had. However, are there any fellow propects that you dislike? Any rivalries starting to build between you and another?I had a blast playing for the Blackbirds, definitely the locker room was what made it special and I'll love to be in the same team with many of us. As for rivalries, the QBs are my #1 enemies I surely would like to get my pick sixes from many of them, starting with the #1s (looking at you Leaf Jr, Tebow, Landers)
Quote:Where are you watching the draft?I think I lost my invite to the draft party so part of me wants to go to my local sports bar and grab a couple of beers; but since I don't want to miss my call I'm gonna head home, have a glass of wine and enjoy the show!
