Shortly after the San Antonio Marshals played their fourth game of the season in a home matchup against the Palm Beach Solar Bears in a 42-0 blowout win league officials pulled defensive back Walt Green off the field and whisked him into the locker room alone. It is reported that league officials administered a "random" drug test to Green on the spot at the game while he was still in his pads. Following a breakout performance where Green has currently tallied 6 interceptions in 4 games and is on pace to shatter the DSFL record the league was obviously concerned that things were not all on the up-and-up.
We reached out to the DSFL and to Walt Green for comment but were not able to reach them. However San Antonio Marshals GM Seth Bullock released the following statement:
"The San Antonio Marshals have no doubts that Walt Green will pass his PED screen without issue. We do not fault the DSFL officials for wanting to test someone with the kind of natural gifts that Green has, especially for someone with so little experience in playing professional football performing at that kind of level. The Marshals will fully cooperate with all future inquiries as they expect similar random tests to be administered to several other outstanding DSFL rookies on their team."
Mr. Green's agent has reportedly scheduled a press conference to discuss the drug screening later this evening.
