Ready For Grading
Good morning, or umm I guess afternoon. After last night I turned off my alarm and slept in for the first time in, well months.
I am holding this presser to address the rumor and speculation of the "Random" Drug Testing the NSFL conducted with me after last night's game against Palm Beach.
Yes, I was tested. NO I have not used any NSFL prohibited substances
because there is no list of banned substances in the NSFL rulebook. I'll be filing a lawsuit against the NSFL .
I will say that the NSFL officials are a bunch of ducks. They had me piss out four different samples, they took my blood twice, and I lost track of how many times they asked me the same exact questions. Good thing I drink so much during games to stay hydrated.
I am willing to answer any questions. Before I do I want to thank Seth Bullock for the support during this ongoing investigation.
@Frick_Nasty
What kind of "Vitamins" do you use? Can you bring me some in the locker room?
I do take a few different supplements. I don't want my opponents to catch on. It is a competitive game, so I want to keep my advantages a secret. For you, I'll bring a few extra samples into the locker room. Let me reiterate that I do NOT use NSFL prohibited substances.
@`steelsound`
Did they take a hair sample? Asking for a friend.
Aww man! Duck, Ram, Shim, Bunt. I totally forgot about that! They took a whole clump! Can you see it? Right here behind my ear, I got a chunk missing. If I had dreads or corn-rows in I'd be suing these guys for assault. While I was distracted with them taking a blood sample, another guy came up behind with scissors and snipped the chunk off.
@timeconsumer
In your opinion what about the Marshals defense is the reason they have generated 13 interceptions, forced 3 fumbles, and had a sack for a safety in only four games?
This game we play is a team sport. I have no doubt that our DL and LBs have forced opposing QBs to make such poor decisions when throwing the ball. At the same time, the coverage we DBs have been providing has allowed those same DL and LB personnel to thrive too.
Having a group of guys that understand the system, and they trust and respect our Coach and GM roster choices, allows each of us to be aggressive against opposing offenses.
Doesn't matter what teams we have played against, we still have to execute.
@killerking
Do you feel like your own achievements so far this season has overshadowed some of the other outstanding members of the Marshall secondary? Like every report, I already am green this and green that you know. JK love you brother.
I love seeing my name everywhere these last few weeks, especially after our second game against Palm Beach. It has been fun having locals recognize me on the street or when I'm shopping.
Are my achievements overshadowing my teammates? Maybe. But I can't control the Media, though I admit I haven't shied away from the attention.
I think everyone is super excited about the new season finally starting that everyone has picked up on one or two soundbites that are really good. If I keep getting a turnover every game it'll cast a huge shadow on my teammates, but you better look back at those games; I've only been named Defense Player of the Game once, in Week 1. Yeah even though I had 3 Ints last game, Mo Berry was named DPotG for his 9 tackles and 2 sacks. Congrats Mo! If we keep playing as we have, everyone on this Defense will be a household name.
@shadyshoelace
Which receiver that you've faced so far has been the toughest to defend? Which QB has been the toughest to play?
You've been playing cornerback in the DSFL after a great college career at safety, and it seems to be paying off. What do you think makes you so versatile, and which position do you see yourself playing long-term?
Those are some hard questions. I'm not sure I can say there has been a receiver or QB that has been tough to play against so far. Havran and Tidwell are certainly the best duo we have faced as a team.
However, despite all my intercepts, I am currently most proud of the forced fumble/recovery I had against Terry Taffy. He was a guy that showed a lot of promise in the Prospect Bowl, so to be able to do that against him is a huge confidence boost for me. Sort of a milestone saying I'm on the right track to being one of the best players in the DSFL.
As for me playing cornerback vs safety, well refer to my answer to timeconsumer. This is a great unit that trusts our coaches and understands the game philosophy we're trying to build. So switching from Safety to Corner was no issue. I trust the staff to position each of us to be successful on the field and we have been. My attitude about playing corner is no different than when I play safety, Let's Win!
@smaxx77
Do you think this investigation is a conspiracy by other teams to try and weaken the Marshal's defense?
If that is true, then those teams are weaker than I thought. Don't blame me for catching the ball when sorry-ass QBs throw it to me.
@Fordhammer
Walt, do you think this problem could be a league-wide issue? Are you concerned about any other players in particular that might be using PEDs?
Can you be more specific about what may be a league-wide issue? Use of prohibited PEDs? The rough treatment of athletes during testing simply based on speculation? Or that teams using PED speculations to conspire against players as an intimidation tactic?
I am not concerned about other players taking PEDs regardless if they are banned or unbanned by the league. It is foolish to think no one is using PEDs. I just don't worry about it. Out on the field, I can't take a break just because I think an opponent is using PEDs. I still gotta make tackles and interceptions or my team won't win, which at the end of the day, to me, is more important than trying to figure out who is breaking league rules.
Thank You everyone for your questions. I can't keep a presser open forever. I noticed my teammate Vander Jones was pulled aside for testing as well. I'm surprised Morgan Marshal hasn't been tested yet.
