Just some of the things people have called this team. This team, however, has what it takes to win this league. The team that gave up twelve sacks. The team that has locker room problems. That's right, I'm talking about the Arizona Outlaws .
Going into Week 3, they were 1-1 not a bad record, not the best. Even though they were tied for 2nd place in the league, (with Yeti being number one, Wraiths, Sabercats, Outlaws, and Otters in a three-way tie) In a very recent Power Rankings, the Outlaws were ranked under the last place team, in terms of record, the Baltimore Hawks . They were not the only team to be ranked this low as the favorite to win the trophy at the end of the year, the Orange County Otters , were also ranked under the 0-2 team.
After giving up a league-record 12 sacks, everyone around the league thought "The Arizona Outlaws? The 12 Sacks Allowed? Worst O-Line in the league?." But, the Arizona Outlaws did not let this bother them as they got together, watched some game film, figured out what was wrong, and made adjustments. This proved to be the turning point of this team.
Week 3. Facing off against the Baltimore Hawks, the team that was ranked above them in the Power Rankings. It was a matchup between the 1-1 Outlaws and the 0-2 Hawks . Both teams started off cold until there were signs of life half way through the first quarter. Hawks kicker, Turk Turkleton, kicked a 39 yard FG to go up 3-0. 14 minutes later, into the second quarter, the Hawks scored again, this time a touchdown. At this moment, the Hawks were up 10-0. The Outlaws were in trouble. With four minutes left to go in the 2nd quarter, Vincent Draxel managed to find King Bronko in the end zone for a 7-yard pass touchdown. The score was 10-7 Hawks to end the half and the Outlaws were back in it.
Both teams started off awfully cold in the 3rd quarter as they did in every other quarter. 13 minutes in, Vincent Draxel finishes a well-played drive with a 9 Yard touchdown pass to Wes Washington. Outlaws with the lead 14-10. Fast forward to the fourth quarter, six and half minutes in, the Hawks kick a field goal to bring them back within a field goal to win this game, 14-13 . The Outlaws got the ball back and went on a game-winning drive. With less than a minute left, the Outlaws running back, Michael Newman, put the nail in the coffin with a 2-yard rushing touchdown to end the game. 21-13, . Another big performance Vincent Draxel going 20/37, 260 yards, 2 touchdowns, and 0 interceptions. On the defensive end, Brady Stropko was a huge factor with 8 tackles and 1 sack. Jaylon Lee was also a big player for the Outlaws as he cleaned up the field with 11 tackles.
2-1 record for the Outlaws going into week 4, and they are feeling good. They redeemed themselves from the awful 12 sack game and are looking to do it again in week 4 against the Yellowknife Wraiths . 5 minutes into the game, Bubba Nuck catches a 4-yard pass from Orosz to start the game 7-0 for the . 3 and a half minutes later, the Wraiths score once again with a 26-yard field goal from Archibald Booter. 10-0 . 3 minutes before the first quarter ends, Jack Durden punches it in for a 1 yard rushing touchdown for the . 10-7 . The second quarter was quiet with the only points coming from Archibald Booter's field goal from 23 yards out. 13-7 . The game was back and forth for the remaining 30 minutes of the game... until the final 2-minute warning. go on a game-ending drive to save themselves from another loss by finding Lincoln Jefferson in the endzone for a 3-yard touchdown pass from Vincent Draxel. 14-13 on top. Big performance from Jack Durden getting 18 carries (51% of the Outlaw's total carries) 73 yards, and one touchdown.
And now here we are, going to week 5. The Outlaws are currently leading the ASFC with the Orange County Otters on their back. Were the two wins from the Arizona Outlaws just a fluke? Or was it something we can expect to happen again in the week 4 rematch against the ? The Outlaws are currently 3-1. Wraiths are 1-3. The Outlaws have been and are one of the most underrated teams currently in the league. Only time will tell if the Outlaws could prove everyone in this league wrong.
