Following the massive upset over the Orange County Otters in the ASFC Championship, the Arizona Outlaws organization has been surprisingly quiet in the wake of the big play-off win. All the expected comments from the team have come forward from players and management eager to congratulate one another with class and dignity. Word going around the league is that GM Victoria Danvers was quick to speak to the Otters’ management and share a few kind words of consolation. However, the league fans demand something more than simple platitudes. The Arizona fans want to know the real dirt. What was the atmosphere like inside the Locker Room after the big win? What was going through the coaches’ heads in preparation for the big game? Did the team have any secret tricks up their sleeve or were they simply in the right place at the right time? As much as the Arizona fans find themselves celebrating, the Orange County fanbase finds itself equally as enraged at the unexpected loss. Fans have reportedly taken to twitter to demand answers with half of the more vocal fans saying that the Outlaws simply got lucky while the others have questioned the Otters organization, calling for answers from management. The world of sports can bring fans to the highest of highs and the lowest of lows. And it is at both of these times that we seek answers even from the least likely of sources.
Fortunately, while both the Otters and the Outlaws have kept outside communication to a minimum over the last few days, we did speak to one employee of the Outlaws organization who was unafraid to speak his mind. Jose Garcia, who works for the Outlaws as a janitor, is a man that himself in places most people don’t have access to. As part of the cleaning crew, he is nearly invisible to the people around him and tends to be one of the first people with access to hard information, sometimes even before the players are aware of it. Now, Mr. Garcia only speaks Spanish, but unfortunately we’re on top of things and have put our top translator on the case, translating Mr. Garcia’s comments.
Editor’s Note: We’re waiting on a response from the translator. He’s out on a family emergency, but will be getting back to us as soon as possible. Do NOT post this article on the website without getting full approval from me. I swear, if more articles continue to be posted online without getting officially approved, some interns are going to get fired. You can’t just post articles without reading the notes attached to them. Articles in pending status can not be published until the status is changed to approved by myself or one of the assistant editors.
“Estoy muy orgulloso de estar involucrado con la organización ilegal”, Mr. Garcia said, starting our conversation. I assumed it to be some kind of greeting. I didn’t have the heart to tell him I did not speak Spanish, but he kept talking, so I kept recording.
As you can imagine, I wasn’t sure what to make of the conversation so far. But it seems impossible for someone to say so much without actually saying anything of substance. And so I kept recording, intrigued as to the real message hidden behind his words.
I remember Mr. Garcia laughing nervously at this point. He seemed to be laser focused at this point and my intrigue continued to grow with each word. Clearly, this man was willing to risk his job in order to bring us the information that the fans were craving.
I continued to record his every Word, knowing that each one must have been of vital importance.
From Mr. Garcia’s tone and demeanor, I took him for a kind soul. It amazed me how I could tell so much about this man without being able to understand anything he was saying. He seemed to be a man who appreciated the position that he held with an unquestionable fondness.
Writer’s note – IMPORTANT: Make sure to forward the article back to me once the translator has had time to decipher it. I need to add my own feedback and ensure that my description of the conversation with Mr. Garcia matches his story. I don’t want to risk letting him say anything that would make me look like an idiot. No matter what you do, if you can’t get the article directly to a translator, do not pass the task off to the interns. I don’t care if they’re the bosses’ kids. They’re terrible interns. Sometimes, I think they publish unfinished articles just to spite us.
