Welcome, everyone, to the first article I have ever created! We will be going in depth into the running backs who have managed to separate them from the pack. I will be ranking all of them, doing my best to keep my biases out of my rankings though inevitably some will slip in. So, let us begin.
#1: Ruff Ruff, San Antonio Marshals.
But MATHIAS, you said no biases on this list!!! Unsubscribe, unlike, and unfollow!!1!
Yeah, yeah, cool your horses for a second and let me speak. Ruff has been absolutely killing it in one of the most run prolific offenses in the league. On 164 attempts, he has gained 882 yards, good for 3rd overall yardage and 3rd overall YPC (though frankly the other guys ahead of him have so little volume that I’m willing to call it a fluke.) He has the most TDs in the league with 10, and has the longest run of the season so far with a 59 yard trot, with only Jake Utler coming close to that number. Simply put, he’s been extremely efficient, has gotten into the endzone when his team needed it most and can run with the best of them.
#2: Marcella Toriki, Norfolk Seawolves
Man, Toriki has already logged some miles in this season. With 261 carries, nearly 100 over the next closest running back, Toriki definitely has the advantage in volume. She has already managed to crack 1000 rushing yards and still maintains a respectable 4 YPC despite Norfolk feeding her the ball so often. She is arguably the best true workhorse back in the league so far, being able to keep up her yardage despite receiving so many more carries compared to her contemporaries.
#3: Mathias Hanyadi, San Antonio Marshals
PERSONAL BIAS REEEEEEEEEEE!!!!
Alright, alright! Truth be told, I had myself around fifth on the board before week seven, with Rkansaw NA and Ducky Donut ahead of me. However, due to a massive week 7 performance against the Seawolves, I feel like I’ve earned the right to move up the board. With 887 yards on 177 carries, I rank just behind my canine companion in the San Antonio backfield with 5 YPC. A solid running back, giving San Antonio one of the best backfields to work with in the league.
#4: Michael Vincent, Kansas City Coyotes
A guy who has had a bit quieter of a season compared to the other top backs, but nonetheless his stats speak for themselves. 126 carries with 685 yards puts him up there with Ruff as one of the most efficient backs in the league. Able to always fall forward and fight for more yards, Vincent has been chugging along and carving out a very good season in the background. If KC keeps giving him the ball, expect to see his name rise to the cream of the crop.
#5: Ducky Donut, Tijuana Luchadores
One of the top tier backs in the league, Donut has been carving up defenses all season long with Tijuana. Despite having the second most carries in the league, Donut has still been able to post a respectable yardage amount of 866 on the season, putting him at 4.5 YPC. Sharing duties with his fellow running back, Chase Osborn, Tijuana has a powerful rushing attack overall and is searching for a playoff run with Donut at the helm.
#6 Jake Utler, Palm Beach Solar Bears
Much like Michael Vincent, Utler has been quietly carving out a hell of a running back season. He is just under Ruff and Vincent for best YPC in the league (ignoring the two outliers ahead of them) at 5.3 YPC. 673 yards is good enough for 8th in the league, and he has the second longest run of the season with a 49 yard burn. If Palm Beach hopes to sniff the postseason, they need to get Utler running hard and running fast, because he is one of the top backs in the league.
#7 Rkansaw NA, Portland Pythons
NA has been making a lot of noise this year, despite the crazy name. With 718 yards on 139 carries, that puts him at 5.2 YPC and one of the better backs in the league this year. He hasn’t broken off any big runs like Utler or Ruff, but he has managed to always push forward and get those yards when his team needs them the most. I only expect his numbers to get more impressive as the season goes onwards, and we’ll see what he can do while Portland continues to hunt for a top playoff spot.
I’m ending the list at 7! Why? Cause I can! Lemme know what you guys think below. Did I snub anyone? Who was overrated the most? Just keep it civil and don’t kill each other!
