As one of the most promising rookies to come on the scene in the DSFL and maybe THE most promising defensive rookie, Kacey Dream knows that he will be a hotly contested pick come the NSFL draft. And while Kacey will be happy to play with whoever might draft him, Kacey also likes to be put in a position to win and there are certainly some teams that would be more favorable to play for than others. After careful thought and deliberation, Kacey has compiled a tier list of his choices from most to least desirable.
Tier 1-Dream Destinations.
1.Orange County Otters
Perhaps the team with the best chance of consistently coming away with the Ultimus championship, Orange County would be a perfect place for Kacey to go. Their General Manager Speculadora is a genius strategist and has been described to Kacey as the Bill Belichick of the NSFL, no insult intended. The only downside to being drafted by the Otters would be that Kacey would probably get sent back down to the DSFL since Orange County has great depth and probably wouldn't need him next season.
2.New Orleans Second Line
This might come as a surprising choice, especially coming before the Wraiths. However, Kacey wants to win in the postseason as well as the regular season and the Second Line has a ton of young talent and should be coming into a championship window in the next couple of years. Again there would be a chance that he would get sent down to the DSFL for a season, but the opportunity to play for what could potentially be the next NSFL dynasty would be desirable indeed.
3.Yellowknife Wraiths
Ah, the Wraiths. Kacey would obviously have no problem playing for what could be the most talented team in the entire league. The only issue, as stated before, is that Kacey wants to win in the postseason. The Wraiths are absolutely dominant in the regular season but just can't seem to pull it together come the playoffs. It would be appealing to help break that stigma and finally bring the postseason success that Yellowknife deserves however. Again this would probably require a stint back in the DSFL once again.
4.Arizona Outlaws
The Outlaws are an interesting option because they are the first team on this list that could potentially have Kacey on the roster from day 1. They are an older team with several players starting to show their age and lose a step, especially on the defensive side. This could open up the possible of Kacey stepping in right away and making a difference. However, it's also unclear whether the Outlaws are going to be able to make enough of a youth movement to replace all of their aging stars, making this a mixed bag of a destination, hence it's placement at the bottom of Tier 1.
Tier 2-Dreaming of More
5.Austin Copperheads
While a little bit older than the Second Line, Austin is another young team who should be highly competitive for seasons to come, another potential dynasty. There is also room on the roster for Kacey to avoid a stint in the DSFL as the nickel back. The division is tough however, with both New Orleans and Orange County to contest with, so postseason success is not guaranteed. But the idea of playing in the best division in football and knocking off the teams at the top is highly desirable as well, easily making this the best choice in tier 2.
6.Baltimore Hawks
The Hawks are another veteran team who should certainly be competitive for a season or two before regression hits them too hard. Again there is potential room for early playing time in the nickel for Dream. Possessing a dynamic offense and room for opportunity on defense, this is another team that Kacey would be very happy to end up with. Plus they always get the chance to upset the Wraiths in the playoffs and get that Ultimus appearance. Again though, the concern about a youth movement in the next few seasons is real, so we'll see if they can maintain their high level of play.
7.Colorado Yeti
While not totally devoid of talent, the Yeti are definitely a team lacking in certain areas. Age and obsolescence have hit them hard in a few areas, and while they have potential the need for an overhaul, is huge. Being a part of a major rebuild and helping to rejuvenate a culture is highly enticing, but if the team remains stagnant and brings in no postseason success than Kacey would not find this a pleasurable place to play. Again there is massive opportunity to play early in this secondary and avoid the DSFL for another season.
8.Chicago Butchers
You might be sensing a theme here toward the bottom of the list: Age and stagnation. Well you wouldn't be wrong and the Chicago Butchers fit right into that category. While they actually have a decent number of players in their secondary, most of them are well past their glory days, once again leaving ample opportunity for Kacey Dream to get immediate playing time. However this team is in need of a major overhaul or else they are doomed to become bottom dwellers for the next few seasons. Again, being a part of a rebuild isn't exactly a horrible outcome, there is just a lot of work to do here.
Tier 3- A Bad Dream
9. Philadelphia Liberty
Speaking of bottom feeders, well, here we are. These are the teams that require the most work, possessing the least amount of immediate talent in the league. Philadelphia is actually not in as bad a position as you might think. It is already in the midst of a rebuild project, and they get the edge over San Jose because they might be able to turn this team around in the next few seasons. While they do have some old timers on this team they also have a decent amount of young talent with a lot of heart in the locker room to match. Whether or not Kacey would get sent to the DSFL is a toss up here as they do have some talent in the secondary, though they could use another body or two.
10.San Jose SaberCats
Well now. This is a team that, scarily enough, Kacey Dream could step in right now and be the number one corner. Yikes. While not totally devoid of talent, there are some MAJOR holes in this roster, cornerback being one of the biggest. There is a mix of young and old talent on this team, with several players who have seemingly stopped trying altogether. It has been posited that Tijuana could beat San Jose on a good day and that doesn't seem totally out of the realm of possibility. While Kacey would still embrace the situation, this is easily the most difficult situation for him to be drafted into.
