After the joint report that Ethan Hunt wanted out of San Jose, combined with the statement by the San Jose SaberCats Management, Ethan Hunt has released statement following this debacle.
"As many of you know, an ESPN article was released earlier today discussing my future in San Jose with the San Jose SaberCats organization. The article cited an "anonymous source" within the SaberCats organization. While I am not sure at this very moment who the source is, I can publicly confirm that my heart and future is not with the San Jose SaberCats organization. For this, I respect the stance the San Jose SaberCats Front Office has taken on this, issue, as it should have been expected. They gave up a lot to acquire me, and it should not be a surprise that they were less than thrilled to find out that I did not want to play for them.
And since I am still under contract with the San Jose SaberCats for another season, and therefore their property, I will honor my contract with the organization. However, I will state my intentions clear right now, I will not re-sign with the SaberCats next season and therefore will test Free Agency, if anyone has not caught on yet. I don't see my career taking any steps forward with the team. I want to contend and win, and while playing as the undisputed #1 Quarterback is nice, it doesn't mean anything if the team, much like me, struggles and has difficulty adjusting to a fast paced, professional environment. I don't fit in with the team's culture, and the team's culture doesn't fit into my needs.
Once again, I've somewhat enjoyed my time in San Jose and look forward to what the future brings."

San Jose SaberCats beat reporter, Jake Rassalt, quickly spoke his mind on the issue following Hunt's statement:

The tweet has since been deleted, but had received overwhelming support from the San Jose fanbase with its seven minute lifespan.
NSFL Insider Sam Ricardo had pointed out an interesting coincidence however, with San Jose protecting Hunt:
