Expansion announced, favorites emerge

The NSFL announced what everyone long suspected yesterday afternoon. The NSFL will be expanding to 12 teams. Home Office feels like the league will be able to sustain 12 teams after the biggest draft class in NSFL history. Ownership groups will have until Friday evening to submit their final proposals.
Early in the process, AdamS, former GM of the Austin Copperheads, announced his intention to be an expansion GM. This came as a surprise to many he had just stepped down from Austin the year prior. The last time the NSFL expanded AdamS was selected as an expansion GM. With his former experience, connection to the home office, and the early start to his campaign AdamS should be a heavy favorite for one of the expansion teams. With one of my sources indicating that AdamS is a lock for one of the spots. Vancouver seems like the likely destination for one of the NSFL expansion teams.
There have been rumblings around the league about how unbiased the application process will be. Some assume that the league office will lean towards their favorites and that any fresh faces will be at an extreme disadvantage. AdamS has everything that league wants in an expansion gm. He is the conventional choice and one I am glad they get to chose from. He has proven he is a great GM. But in my opinion, his time has passed. With this expansion, the NSFL should be looking towards their crop of talented DSFL GMs who have paid their dues and are ready for the next step. This is critical in developing a pipeline of GMs that are capable of leading teams, especially as further expansion is likely.
I hope the home office will take a chance and allow a fresh face to lead the expansion. Hopefully allowing new perspective to be shined onto the league. Time will tell how the home office will handle the flood of applications and proposals. I’m hopeful they are candid in their decisions and process.
