Q: So Tylus how's it going buddy. Nice to sit down after getting a good win Friday. Even tho I literally did nothing. How are you feeling on this holiday?
A: Well our team, the San Jose Sabercats, are coming off a nice win, and I feel pretty good about that. It's been really fun mingling with my new teammates so far this season, and everyone on the team seems like awesome guys! Taking home another win was awesome, and we played a great game.(Mostly Jamar, that jerk)
Q: We have had a interesting season in my opinion. We're young, hungry, and just missing a few wins by a few certain plays. How do you feel the season is going for the team?
A: I honestly think the season is going pretty well all things considered! I think most teams wrote us off knowing how young a lot of our core team is, especially offensively, but I think we've managed to exceed expectations and shock a couple of teams at the halfway point. With wins over New Orleans Second Line and the Orange County Otters, we've shown that even with out youth, we are a team that can compete with the best of them. These are awesome signs, and in the coming seasons you can tell that our offense is going to be deadly. With Jamar Lackson and Cardrission crushing the ground game, and myself and Thomas-Fox getting stronger to compliment Monty Jacks throwing, the Sabercat offense should be a force to be reckoned with sooner than later. On the defensive side of the ball, we're shown that we might bend, but we won't break at times. There is a ton of talent over there, so I know they are gonna do what they can to give us back the ball. I can't say we have any weaknesses other than youth on this team!
Q: I'm playing a different position this year to help out our team and feel like it's been a adjustment. Overall how do you feel the jump from DSFL to NSFL has effected you?
A: After my experiences playing in Minnesota in the DSFL last season I feel like the jump has been somewhat harsh, going for 0 catches some games, but I do understand that it's a part of the game, and that in time, I can get back to putting up my DSFL numbers. With myself and Monty being so young, I am not discouraged, I know that our strength can only grow. I've been max earning from day 1 and don't intend for that to change. I might be irrelevant right now, but if I have anything to say about it, this phase of my career won't be lasting too much longer. Teams will have to start showing us respect after we've earned it, but once we do we will be the terror of the league!
Q: I understand that, overall personally how do you see the season at the midway point. Anything you want to improve on for the second half?
A: I'm planning on working on my agility and endurance, so I can hopefully stop getting downed inside the 5 yard line and help bring home a few of these catches. While I might not get the most targets, I'm hoping to make the most of each and every one I do get. I don't have a touchdown yet either, so I'm really excited to finally have one on my resume. While suffice it to say that I won't be winning any awards this season, I feel like I have a lot of room to improve. I hope to be seen as a better player by the end of the season than I was in the beginning, and also show that I was not a reach at 6th overall in the draft.
Q: As long as your improving that's all that matters. What goals did you have for yourself the first half of the season and how did they work out? Any goals for the second half?
A: I have basically no goals for this season at the moment, just to take each game at a time and try to do as much as my ability allows to win those games. I was hoping I might have had a bit of a stronger start, but I can't complain, being a starter in my second season, while I'm honored to be in the big leagues already, there were bound to be some struggles. The goals I have now are to win and improve every day to bring as much to the team as I possibly can muster, anything beyond that is frivolous and selfish.
Q: Lastly, just to know. Can you change a oil filter?
A: So basically you unscrew a thing, then you drain some stuff, then you screw the thing back on and put oil in. Then you take the old oil to walmart for whatever reason. I did it right, right? Of course I did, I'm the league prodigy.
Thank you sir. Enjoy the holiday with your family and I can't wait to see you back at practice.
You too man, it's a blessing to be on a team like this with teammates like yourself, and hope to have an awesome second half of the season with you! Keep up the hard work on the other side of the ball. GO https://i.imgur.com/lZGDADN.png !
