Hello everyone, this is episode number four of the Crossley Chronicles. I just wanted to give you all a look into my thoughts on the draft, and my message to the fans of my new team. Additionally, please follow my new twitter account @crosslypatter1 for daily updates. The next issue of my blog will come shortly after the preseason. Look forward to discussing with you all. – Much Luv, Zach
Well the DSFL draft has come and gone. To be honest, it was a harrowing experience for me as I had to wait for sixty six other names to be called before my own. I sat there waiting by my phone for the call for what felt like hours. After my performance at the prospect bowl my agent was convinced had secured a top fifty pick for myself. Well sometimes life doesn’t work out the way you expected and you just have to deal with it. With that said, I could not be happier that the Myrtle Beach Buccaneers selected me with the sixty seventh overall pick in last night’s DSFL draft. I had some conversations with Myrtle Beach early in the process but it had been silent since then. I was very surprised they were the team to select me. I look forward to integrating into the locker room.
From a practical standpoint, Myrtle Beach is relatively close to my home in Philadelphia and my old college stomping grounds so I know I will have no trouble fitting in. Additionally, I feel even more prepared to be a Buccaneer as I grew up playing some old ass game on my dad’s computer called Sid Meier’s Pirates. While that game has plenty of seafaring action and plundering abound, the real key to progress was romancing women through your footwork on the dance floor. I promise I took note and developed my footwork over the years. While I won’t be using it on the dance floor, I will be using it against opposing secondaries as I dance my way into the hearts of all the Buccaneer fans.
Speaking of the fans, I would just like to say a few words (in my own corny pirate way) to show you what the team and I have planned for you.
Ahoy mateys, this is your newest recruit Zach Crossley reporting for duty. I look forwarding to manning the ship with all my new crewmates here in Myrtle Beach. I promise ye that your Buccaneers made a fantastic choice in bringing me aboard this here vessel. I am not here just for my share of the booty but to become a full fledged member of this here crew and to bring home the treasure for all ye Myrtle Beach fans around the world. I have strong sea legs and am ready to eat any limes needed to stay clear of scurvy. You have found a man who will do anything for his crew, whether it be man the guns or mop the deck I will happily oblige. To our local Buccaneer fans, I hope to see you in attendance this year as we defend our ship from many strong DSFL crews. And for those fans abroad, I hope you can attend one of our ventures into International water and see us plunder the homes of our enemies.
So, everyone please pour a glass of rum, or grog if you prefer, and raise in a cheer to a new season of Myrtle Beach Buccaneers football.
