Well the preseason is here finally and all the new draftees are ready to show what they have. One guy ready to show his skills is Dexter Jackson. Picked number 43 in the DSFL draft Dex, as some call him, was ready to show teams that passed on him that he was a first round talent. Going into the first preseason game he was nervous. Yeah he'd played against some good talent in college but this was another beast. Every guy in the league is a proven talent, unlike college where you had walk ons and some that shouldn't have been on a power five conference team. He is fighting for playing time as well, Myrtle Beach drafted another linebacker ahead of him and roster another one already. He hasn't had to do that since his freshman season at Alabama. He knows he can earn a spot though as long as he shows up ready. Its 5 hours before the game and Dex is eating some baked chicken and vegetables. Hes nervous but ok right now. Some guys walk by and he just looks down and eats. Its 3 hours before the game and we are getting ready in the locker room. Dex sits at his locker with his headphones in listening to some mixture of rap and alternative music. His head bouncing to the beat of Kid Cuddi at the moment. His stomach tensing up but he shows no pain. Be knows its nerves. 1 and half hours until the game starts. The team does its walk through and heads to the locker room to finish getting ready. Once inside Dexter disappears. Coach asks where Dex is and someone says he ran to the John. Coach approaches a stall and hears Dex letting the chicken he ate earlier back out. He opens the stall and Dex is hugging the toilet. You alright?coach asks, yeah coach just nerves. Ill be right out. Few minutes later he appears to guys poking fun at him. During the game he barely did anything registering just 2 tackles. After his first game jitters though he went on to record 18 tackles and 3 pass deflections in next three games showing he has the it factor.
