Alright y’all, it’s been a while but it’s that time again. Today I’m out here doing big things with a rising star from the Minnesota Grey Ducks. This is a waiver guy who created after the huge r/NFL draft, who doesn’t plan on letting anything stand in his way. ThunderTitan82 is with me today in studio talking about his stud FS Damian Blackfyre!
Thanks for coming in Thunder! Super excited to have you! We’re gonna chop it up for a little and get your good name out there! Lets dive into it!
First off, with the huge r/NFL recruitment already having passed, how did you end up creating after the draft?
I didnt learn about this league until a few days prior to the draft, I was browsing through reddit and found this endless rabit hole that is the ISFL. I dove in head first and read as much I could, watched a ton of stuff on youtube in preparation, but by the time I figured out what to do and was ready to make my player, I couldn't finish in time to be properly scouted and trusted enough by a GM to be drafted. Luckily the Grey Ducks took a chance and grabbed me on a waiver, I haven't looked back since.
That’s it man! Forward momentum and constant progress, great outlook! How about the league so far; how’s the experience been for you up to this point?
My sim experience so far has been great! Although experience so far has been limited, only actually playing in four preseason games, i've had a great time, and already made some great friends. Everyone is beyond helpful and supportive. I couldn't ask for a better community to come into as a rookie. I can tell this is something i'm going to continue to enjoy and hopefully succeed in long term.
Hell yeah man, that’s what its all bout! You pretty much summed it all up right there. More about the rookie experience, what’s your most and least favorite things about the league so far?
So far I dont have a favorite thing. I have enjoyed every aspect of the whole experience so far. If I had to choose I would say the community. I haven't played enough games to truly count the game play, but I've had so many positive experiences with every other member I've come across, so that has been really enjoyable. As far as least favorite thing, that's an easy one. I am just so excited to get started and really play in some meaningful games and make an impact on the team, so the time between games is really killer for me. Its something that cant be changed because of the population and depth of the sim, but it kills me waiting around to get back on the field.
Absolutely! I can see the hunger in your eyes man! I can hear it in your voice! Utterly contagious, I’m fucking pumped right now!
Being a former captain in Minnesota, I know firsthand what its like up in there. Over the seasons I personally have made so many lasting friendships! I have so many stories to tell and amazing times to look back on. What about you my dude, who have you connected with in the Minnesota LOCKER ROOM?
The Grey Ducks locker room has been great in every aspect. I've connected with a lot of the other players by now, especially on defense. A few names that i've really connected with, and built a strong bond with as teammates are probably going to be Wasrabi Gleel, Cynoblaze Cleg Manclaw, TheCC Tyron Shields, Just some CB, and Jamar Lackson. But it is really hard to pick out names because the whole locker room has helped me with questions and just overall been fun and positive to be around. I've got a few really great mentors, and just really building good friendships all around.
Amazing place, that Minnesota locker room is, indeed. You really couldn’t ask to land in a better place to start your ISFL journey. Speaking of that journey, where is your focus with the league now?
My focus in the league right now is to prove that I can be a top Safety in the DSFL and the ISFL. Being a Waiver pick up and missing the prospect bowl has put me at a disadvantage in terms of recognition, and overall, so i'm really trying to go out every week and make an impact, I want to be the guy on the defense who really puts up that safety net in the back. I don't really think I should get many big plays, if they get back as far as me then the guys up front couldn't make it happen. I would rather have them stopped before they even make it to me. Less yards means less chance to score, which means more wins. I really am just wanting to make plays happen when I can, but ultimately helping the Grey Ducks win, because wins are the only thing that matters. If I had to go a game without any big plays, or without making a huge impact I would. Whatever it takes to win is what i'm going to do.
Man alive, every team needs a guy like you on the roster! Selfless and team oriented attitude and desire to win combined with a desire to fucking win!! Those are qualities to posses, my dude. While we’re on the topic of winning ball games, what are some of you goals in the league?
My goal in the league right now, long term, is to be the best Safety that ever set foot on an ISFL field. That is a hefty goal to have Iknow it, but keeping it in mind when I walk onto the field keeps me trying my best, and makes me always want to improve. We have so many great players at the safety position which definitely makes it tough, but I like the competition. It really keeps me humble, and keeps me moving forward and finding new ways to get better. Short term goals are really just to get better, play well, make some friends along the way, and most importantly WIN.
Way to go man! I love how you have that long term personal goal combined with more accessible short term goals! That’s a healthy and productive perspective to have man, I salute that stuff. Let’s talk about you some more! How about what you bring to the locker room?
What type of LOCKER ROOM presence are you now and how will this translate to the more toned down environment of the ISFL LOCKER ROOM?
I think I am a pretty mellow Locker room presence, especially compared to some other DSFL players, that's not saying I can't get fired up and get rowdy once in awhile! But I really try to balance having fun and trying to make it enjoyable for others, with being serious and focused on the task at hand. I typically try to go and ask questions really often, or just get online and chat, getting involved in some banter and joke around with teammates when I have the time. I really think this will translate well to the ISFL. I am very serious about winning, and put that first, so I wont fool around too much when I could be doing things to improve instead. I will put of goofing around in the Locker Room until I've finished a GFX i'm working on, or a media piece. Making sure I earn all of the TPE I can is very important to me, so that comes first. This is something I think many GMs will find appealing. I work when its time to work and play when it's time to play.
It’s a fine line, especially in the bigs. You wanna have fun but you also wanna be taken seriously! GMs are definitely on the lookout for a guy like you who already understands these concepts. Lets talk a little more about GMs.
What can your future ISFl GMs expect from you?
ISFL GMs will find a player who is very task oriented. I will always do whatever I can to improve, and I'm always trying to find new ways to improve myself. I understand that Compared to some other players who've been in the league longer than I have, I might not be as skilled in certain areas as far as game play goes, but I make up for that with rapid improvement, positive attitude, and willingness to do whatever it takes to win.
Sounds good man! Its really something else to see you be so aware. You understand you’re behind the curve now and determined to make that ground up! You have a very impressive way of looking at things, especially for such an inexperienced user.
I tell you what man, you got my vote! You wont find me betting against Thunder in anything! You’re the real deal my dude. It was really enjoyable to spend this time with you! Honestly, I’d heard great things about you already and you outshined all my expectations. Having been around the block a couple times now and running into some really solid dudes along the way, I’m gonna put you right up there with the best of them in my book.
You just stay focused and persistent and I believe you will be the best FS in league history. You wont find me betting against you.
Thank you Jangers for the kickass interview! I appreciate you taking your time to help a rookie out! You'll definitely be seeing a lot more of me, both on AND off the field.
There you have it y’all! Another in a long line of top shelf dudes in the Minnesota locker room! All you ISFL GMs can consider this some free advanced scouting! Wherever he is on the board, he’ll be a steal. Keep your eyes peeled for ThunderTitan82 going forward. He’s looking to make some big time noise!
