Over the past several weeks I've been working on a pretty intense project. I'm happy to say it's reached Alpha! Welcome to Sim Test Advantage! In this article I'll walk through the app a bit and how it works. If you want the TL;DR version, I'm also linking a youtube video that goes through it in just as much depth.
Youtube Walkthrough
Sim Test Advantage is an efficient dashboard for storing, viewing, analyzing, and comparing sim tests. To my knowledge it is the most comprehensive version of these tools and (my hope is) that it's the easiest to use. There are still several crashes and bugs that I'm working out (the app is in version 0.1.4) but it's coming. However it comes with one important caveat:
ONLY THE ISFL TEAM THAT DRAFTS ME WILL GET IT FOR THE DURATION OF MY ROOKIE CONTRACT
Well and the Grey Ducks of course. However, the Grey Ducks will get a DSFL only version and my ISFL team will get an ISFL only version so that the advantages are specifically only for the Grey Ducks and my future ISFL team.
I'll go over each screen in the app below starting with the Inputs tab:
Inputs
The Inputs tab is where you do just that, input information about your sim test. You enter a name for the test you're running, the team you're testing for, and any notes you'd like to add. You also select the folder which holds the exported CSVs from your sim test in Draft Day Sports. There's a button for "Paste Clipboard" which is where you can attach images directly from your clipboard into the app to view later. This is useful for screenshotting strategies or depth charts. Then, when the inputs are all set, click "Run Analysis" and BAM you've got an awesome dashboard on the Teams tab.
Teams
In the Team tab you can find the team level stats for both teams in the sim. At the very top it shows the "scoreboard" which is the average final score during the sim test between the teams with the win rate for the team you're testing below. There are also both teams team-level stats in widgets below. These widgets are actually pretty badass. Anywhere you see them you can double click the widget and it's copied to your clipboard for easy sharing. The output of double clicking the Grey Ducks widget above is this:
Players
The Players tab includes all information for the stats for all players in the simulation sortable by position. Above we see the running backs in the simulation and their stats. The stats are customized per position to only show relevant stats for each position. The app also determines who the returners were and posts their stats as Returners in addition to their positional stats. As before, all of those widgets are "double clickable" and will export the card to your clipboard. An example of double clicking Jameson Vermillions widget is below:
Load
The Load tab is one of the most valuable parts of the entire app. Every time you click "Run Analysis" on the Inputs tab, a new save file is generated and in the Load tab you can go back to those runs and view the results again. It will keep all data and all images so you can sort through all your tests and select the most successful tests. From here you can also delete old tests.
This app was fun as hell to build, and it is being privately distributed to the Grey Ducks on the Windows store. When I'm drafted, my team will also gain access to the app in the store and when my rookie contract is up, a full version 1.0 release will be available to ALL teams in the ISFL/DSFL. Happy drafting ISFL GMs!
