Continuing the series from last week, today we look back at the players who had the best special team performances of all time in the ISFL.
*Disclaimer: These are records as they originally stood; if they have been matched but not surpassed, those new players are not included in this list.
Kicking & Punting
Most Field Goals Made - Micycle McCormick - 7 FG - S10 W7
In their 21-13 victory over the Orange County Otters, the Colorado Yeti scored solely off of McCormick's record 7 field goals. He may not have been the first to attempt 7, but he was certainly the first to make them all. The Yeti would wind up getting eliminated from the playoffs after finishing the season 9-5. Micycle McCormick would famously change positions from kicker to quarterback following this season, and was inducted into the ISFL Hall of Fame in the S18 Class.
Most Field Goals Attempted - Joey Langdon - 7 FG - S2 W5
In their 19-10 win over the Las Vegas Legion, the Orange County Otters set up for a record 7 field goals. This record has obviously been met since, but in 22 seasons no one has managed to beat Joey Langdon's original 7 attempts. Unfortunately he only made 4 of those kicks. That season, the Otters were eliminated from the playoffs by the eventual champions, the Arizona Outlaws. Langdon himself had a quiet career as the Otter's kicker before quietly retiring.
Longest Field Goal - Alfredo Crisco - 65 yd - S20 W6
In the 41-10 blowout against the San Jose Sabercats, the Austin Copperheads only made 2 field goal attempts. However, Alfredo Crisco made both, the first of which was for a record 65 yards. The Copperheads would finish the season 8-5, but still ended up defeating the Yellowknife Wraiths in the Ultimus. Crisco won both Punter and Kicker of the Year that season, and is 8th all-time for career field goals made, 7th all time for career extra points made, and 4th all-time for career punting yards.
Most Punting Yards - Iyah Blewitt - 772 yd - S7 W5
In their huge 10-37 loss against the New Orleans Second Line, the San Jose Sabercats understandably had to punt a lot. In fact, Iyah Blewitt had a record-setting day, punting for a total 772 yards. The Sabercats would not even make the playoffs this season, but Blewitt would win his only title as the kicker/punter for NOLA in S9. Blewitt is a 2 Punter of the Year and 1x Kicker of the Year. He is also 1st and 4th all-time for annual punting yards, 9th all-time for annual field goals made, 1st all-time for annual extra points made, 5th all-time for career punting yards, 7th all-time for career field goals made, and 10th all-time for career extra points made.
Longest Punt - Cristiano Ronaldo - 81 yd - S3 W8
In their 32-22 win over the Yellowknife Wraiths, the Arizona Outlaws had to punt 8 times, but punter Cristiano Ronaldo set an ISFL record with a massive 81 yard punt. The Outlaws would finish that season 13-1, handily winning the Ultimus. Ronaldo was named Punter of the Year that season, and in his career had 3 Ultimus wins with the team.
